I saw a videographer shooting a trade show with a C100 yesterday. I didn't get close enough to see if it was a Mark 1 or Mark 2 but I assume it was the latter. It's still a moneymaker.

Forgot about the c100 mkII as well - DPAF, ND's, Clog, XLR audio, 60p and so on. When prices hit $500 or so, I'll give it a look. 1080p is plenty for social and most deliverables. But everything is just so easy with the a7sIII, I haven't given many video cameras a second look in a couple years. I'm always thinking the grass is greener with the BM Micro. So many cool options, I just don't like having a lot of gear sitting around that doesn't get used.

When I used the S5 with audio I swore by the DMW-XLR1; but that was mainly because my highest quality mics were all XLR. In your situation, I would just test out the Sennheiser straight into the mic port. The quality of the audio will mainly be affected by the lav mic more so than what port you use on the S5II. For the cost of the DMW-XLR1 you could get a pretty nice lav mic.
The trick with the mic port is to turn down the gain within the S5II to almost as low as possible, then use the Sennheiser G4 setup to bring the levels within the -6dB range. On the transmitter side set the peaks to -12dB, on the receiver side use the receiver to boost the signal until it just taps on -6dB at its peaks within the camera. That will nearly eliminate the camera's noisy pre-amps and rely on the Sennheiser which is going to be cleaner. If you are worried about clipping then turn the transmitter down to -12dB peaks as well.
Personally, I hate post synching audio so whenever possible I keep things simple. I've also found that Davinci Resolve isn't always that great at syncing audio tracks later which is an even bigger PITA when I need to do it manually.
I am not an audio guy, in fact I hate most things audio, but I do need to record it quite often so when I do I keep it as simple as possible. Shotgun camera mounted mic whenever possible, lav mic to Sennheiser G4 whenever a lav is needed, or straight XLR wired into a MixPre6 with the stereo mix sent to the camera via Sennheiser G4. None of those setups need a post audio sync.
Shotgun camera mounted mics into the mic port of the camera works surprisingly well if you can get close enough to the talent, as long as they face the camera, and there isn't too much background noise. I've been using them more often lately to do quick run and gun interviews for events vs handing them a mic or fiddling with a lav mic.
BTW, an absolute lifesaver for me in Davinci Resolve is the Carity Vx plugin. I actually can use my shotgun mic more often and can make it sound like a lav mic with that plugin because it cleans up the background noise so well. It has literally saved some bad audio more than a few times for me.

You are not getting the RS3 mini? My gimbal FeiyuTech AK2000s is like 1,2kg already + Samsung NX1 with its 16-50mm F2-2.8 makes that gimbal extremely unyielding, it brings back memories of my military days holding a 3kg rifle all day really did a number on you.
Zhiyun Crane M3 seems almost half the size of my AK2000s and much lighter.
Overall in event shoots I found gimbals to be cumbersome and more often than not actually limited shots I could get specially among crowds of people, eventually I just detached the gimbal and shot handheld with the S5, worked way better that way, got better shots, got moments I would have lost otherwise, kept having to power down the gimbal when not in use and then power it on again which took 2 - 3 seconds.
Never again, oh and people do not seem to care much when you are holding the dinky little S5 and a Sigma prime, but a gimbal? Oh man LOL

Yes I will dream, LX15 actually shoots pretty good video with the V-log hack and its a really easy camera to work with, fits on some smartphone gimbals too because of its low weight.

I thank God Panny kept the sensor, amazing organic look from it you cannot take for granted these days.
I hope S1II will have the stacked version of that sensor which is found in the Sony A9m2, giving us 4k120p FF.
I own the MC-21 adapter for a long time now but cannot wait to test my Canon glass with the adapter on the S5II and CAF.
If it can even get 80% close to native performance, that is a true keeper for sure.
Its also perfect for gimbal setup, no need to use complex wireless focus pullers anymore and lots of extra battery to power it all.
I dream that Panny also updates the LX15 with their newer 1 inch sensor which was their test bed for the phase detect system.
And their entire MFT line up.

Sensor size has got nothing to do with it. There is a 1.5x crop on whatever lens you use in 4K60p.
Wether or not that bothers you is up to you but its worth a mention when comparing camera specs imo.

Yes it's a crop for 4k50p but that doesn't bother me as I don't really use it, am sure it's a big deal for some though...
With the Canon R6 I thought full frame 4k50p would be a great thing but I have only used it once when I thought I might want some slow mo but didn't and ended up conforming it to 25p anyway. I have a possibly irrational dislike to unmotivated slow mo - I am obviously in the minority here but it is very rare when I see it used in a way that actually adds to the story. I do mainly documentary stuff and realise it can have its uses but generally it's not for me

    Yes S5ii has a S35 crop in 4K60p and 21ms RS. It's a pretty slow sensor readout like A7IV.
R6II is the only camera in its price range that does a no crop FF 4K60p. 16ms RS.
That's a pretty big advantage for the Canon and with 6K ProRes RAW external, it is still a very worthy alternative to S5ii.

Instead of updating Canon R6 with R6ii I'm going to go for the stonking deal with the S5ii and 20-60 and 50mm lenses and use EF lenses with sigma adaptor.
The colour science with vlog I think is lovely and makes good use of that great DR, similar to clog2 and I think nicer to grade than slog. I find clog3 on the R6 a bit limiting
The only RF lens I have is the 16mm 2.8 which is a great little lens but all kinds of edge wobble with Canon and their not so great IBIS. The 20-60mm on the Panny with its superior IBIS will have none of the weirdness and is plenty wide for me.
The 20-60 and 50mm will be great for most AF needs and my EF lenses will be fine with the Sigma adaptor.
The Sony A7 series has always left me a bit cold, strange eegonomics and not fun to use and colour never wows me. The S5 felt good in the hand and a bit better built than the R6, am excited about getting the S5ii, ticks all the boxes for me

Just catching up with the S5II announcement. This is actually the first Panny mirrorless I'd consider as I'm slaved to DPAF since C100 almost a decade ago. A big kudos to Panasonic for finally getting proper video AF.
The specs and price of the S5ii are also very impressive. FF 6K30p with 3:2 open-gate is simply terrific for the asking price.
Neither Canon or Sony offer these specs at such an entry price point. This alone is very aggressive and makes switching tempting.
I've actually sold my R6 so I'm actively in the market for a new mirrorless right now. And this new entry makes my decision making even tougher.
I was hesitating in between simply upgrading to the R6 II or getting FX30. Or investing in higher up R5/A7S3. Or even R3.
So yeah Canon vs Sony. But the S5II (and upcoming S5IIx) is definitely on my radar now as well.
It would be my number one choice as far as bang for buck but actually the last because of these unknown factors:
    - Lenses. I'm not at all equipped in them and the offering seems a little stale & pricy.
    - Color Science & VLOG. I know nothing about them and kinda afraid the results and learning curve won't be to my satisfaction. This is really important.
    - Size/Weight. I've always found the S series the most heavy/bulky system. Well built though.

Wow that is a fantastic deal with the 20-60mm and 50mm being only £400 more. Am very tempted...
Was looking at Canon R6ii to replace the very frustrating R6 but with the Sigma adapter looking like you can get decent AF with Canon EF lenses, the S5ii looks a much better camera for me. The Panasonics IBIS is way above Canons, and also the much better DR, full size HDMI, touchscreen which stays on when you connect external monitor.
The S5ii is £779 cheaper than the R6ii, even with the 20-60mm and 50mm deal I can also add the Sigma adapter and it still comes out cheaper than the Canon R6ii. I also trust Panasonic more than Canon to give their camera decent firmware support and make it the best camera they can.
Sorry I realise this is Sony v Panny  thread and I've just added Canon to the mix

Panasonic (or at least their partner: Sigma) need to play this same game.
Bring out an absurdly cheap couple of lenses.
Don't care what they are, just make them cheap and preferably more than one.
    Could be a 40mm f4 pancake for $199.
    Could be a 35mm to 105mm variable f-stop zoom for $250
    Could be a 50mm f2 for $199
    Could be a 35mm f2.8 for $299
Whatever, just make a couple of them asap! To draw people into their L Mount ecosystem.
As they have to play the same game the other companies are playing. Nikon/Canon/Sony/Fujifilm/Pentax all do this. (yes, even Pentax!)
    Pentax 50mm f1.8 = $97
    Pentax 35mm f/2.4 = $117
    Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 = $125
    Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens = $129
    Nikon 50mm f/1.8D = $132
    Nikon DX 35mm f/1.8G = $180
    Pentax 40mm f/2.8 (it's an amazing pancake lens!!!) = $230
    Nikon DX Macro Lens 40mm f/2.8G = $280
    Nikon 28mm f/2.8D = $287
    Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 = $149
    Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 = $179
    Fujifilm 35mm f/2 = $199
    Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 = $248
    Sony E 16mm f/2.8 (pancake!) = $248
    Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 = $249
    Nikon Z 40mm f/2 = $277
    Nikon Z 28mm f/2.8 = $277
They need to do the same too for camera bodies, how else can they compete with the gateway drugs of: Nikon Z5, Canon EOS RP, Sony a7C / a7mk3 ?? Let alone the other gateway drugs they all have of APS-C cameras for dirt dirt cheap: Nikon Z30, Canon R10, Sony a6x00
Because as fantastically great as Panasonic MFT cameras are, they're unfortunately not a smooth pathway into the L Mount Ecosystem.
Am glad to hear that Panasonic will keep around the S5mk1, as that's a smart move.
Because as I'll say over and over again, Panasonic (and Sigma & Lecia) **NEED** a gateway drug (camera) into the L Mount system.
Sony does this by keeping around their older a7mk3 (and even a7mk2!!) at cheaper prices.
If Panasonic had the S5mk1 available for US$1.7K , then dropping down in the second half of this year to US$1.5K, then the S5 would do well at serving that critical niche point. (and just keep on dropping it down by another $100 each year, until five years from now it's being sold for US$1.1K brand new)

Well that's it, deal done; S5 and S1H being 'traded' for a pair of S5ii's. MPB collecting tomorrow, new boys on pre-order...
I would have preferred a pair of S5iix's, purely for their look (don't need their spec, - anything over 200mbs not required) but as they are not available until end of May/early June and my next season starts end of March...
I'm going to miss my S1H for sure, but this is going to be a better pairing for my video needs being:
    A. Identical bodies.
    B. Both having a built in fan rather than just the S1H (though the S5 never overheated a single time).
    C. The AF of course for which I have a need, especially with regard to shooting log because shooting that only made the AF worse with previous Lumix cameras.
    D. No 30 minute time limit as with the S5 which was a pain.
Body A will be paired with the Sigma 16-28mm f2.8 and Body B with the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 and that's happy days for the forseeable future. My only wish would have been the tilt screen of the S1H (or even the S1/S1R) but that is the ONLY compromise with this camera for me. For my video needs anyway...
For stills, sticking with my trusty S1R's for the time being. I had already sold off my f2 Sigma primes. Loved them, but going forward, really wanted something a bit faster for the low light stuff so bought 3x f1.4's, the; 20, 35 and 85.
I'm in no rush to replace them and had considered a complete S5ii lineup, but I reckon either Panasonic or Leica will come out with something maybe for next year that will update the S1R significantly enough for me to replace them.
The ideal now would be an S5iiR model, but an S2R or something Leica flavoured would do it.
On the other hand, I might just trade the pair of them for a third S5ii body as a 3 body set up rather than a 4 works better...except during wedding ceremonies and speeches unless I switch to a 3x zoom set up for those times.
We'll see but glad I stuck with Lumix after considering; OM-1, XH2/S and even a wholesale switch to Sony.
Faith restored in Lumix/L Mount. Hadn't really lost it as such but I had a concern that they might just blow it and not go phase detect but realistically, that would have been suicide for them.

I have already investing in RF (3 lenses, 3 adapters and an R7) and I am now split if I have to sell everything and move to Pana..
R6mkII is still 3.200€ here, so is a no go for me for a middling hybrid, pricing of the Pana cameras seem just right and I am really impressed of what I have seen already. If the EF adapter works well, I seriously don't see why not most choose these cameras and slowly built their L lenses collection.
That X camera seems like an amazing deal whatsoever..
    Well done Panny..
GH6 and everything else seems a bit overpriced now.. don't they?

The camera is not out yet and we see just some marginal differences in IBIS and AF, I am positive they will be fixed in no time..

I almost did the same thing !
But I sent back the R5 and kept all my L mount lenses. The S1 (and S5) is great , yes the AF is very bad but IBIS and image quality are very good.
I still have my GH6 but I'm very tempted to sell it before it loses it's value, I agree the it is somewhat overpriced and beside of very nice colours I don't like the image quality so much for some reasons. But it's the only Panasonic camera with 4K 120fps, is it why I maybe not ready to part with it.
I never had the R6 or the R6II but for me the R5 had the advantages of 4K 60 and 120fps without crop compared to the S5II. The R6II has no crop in 4K 60fps but I still prefer what I've seen of the S5 II, even if the R5 and R6 were at the same price. The S5 II could be my favorite camera since my NX1.
But if Panasonic adds 4K60/120fps for the S1II, it will be my perfect camera.
