valery akos reacted to Gerbert Floor in Advice on eBay anamorphic lens listing (No advertising)
Thinking of buying this one:
I was actually on the look out for an iscorama, or bolex moller (I think I like that one the most with the all the footage I saw until now), but this plus a rectilux might be a good option?

Posted a separate thread for it here too
Thanks so much @BTM_Pix for figuring out this little mod / "hack"!

For anyone looking for a cheap 4K travel camera with a 30x zoom (!) that can have cinelike d then I can confirm that it can indeed be done for the Panasonic TZ80
And if you are travelling through Stansted airport then if you go to the Dixons tax free shop then ask to buy the demo one as I've just been there and left it already enabled on C3 for you

Oh my god, this hack has been on my wishlist for a long time. Now my old G6 finally became a NTSC one and I will spend the rest of the day with a bottle of beer on my patio ?

Made me run to my computer to get a couple of stills.
Remember I have the G7 so the cinelike D was always there since the begining.
I use -4 / -5 / 0 / -5 on my cinelike D profile
Left is cinelike D and right is graded to rec 709 and applied a color grade of my own

Cheers for posting this, i learned a lot!
It confirms what I thought... they're just building up around old code. It's a bit like the Kowloon walled city, there's only so long you can keep adding to it until you have to start again for the sake of everyone's sanity...
One of my favorite things in Lumetri in Premiere is to add a LUT and using say 40% blend of it. How would I do this in Resolve? It's one of the few things I've not worked out yet.
valery akos reacted to Oliver Daniel in Time to dump Adobe. First impressions of Resolve 14 and EditReady 2.0
I've been using resolve on and office the last 6 months - I definitely think it's better than Premiere (which I find to feel a bit ancient in terms of it's usability and UI).
I saw in your post you haven't tried FCPX in a few years.... do you know the version available today is much much much better now? Give it a whirl!
I like the way Resolve is evolving and some of the features are unique (grading, audio editing, CDNG), however because I find FCPX so much faster and enjoyable to edit with (like the Magnetic Timeline 2) - when I edit wth Resolve I really miss the modern fluidity you get with FCPX.
Resolve really needs more plugin support from third parties, plus a few cool tricks on timeline editing to challenge FCPX's "scary at first, but really awesome new way of editing".
That said, Blackmagic are probably the most interesting and exciting video/film industry product company in the world right now. Top job.

I got another reason to dump Adobe.
There's a bug in the newest version where it'll delete all of your media files on the drive with the media cache folder. Happened to me on one drive. Assumed the drive was going bad, so I brought a new one. Moved the media cache folder to a different drive, and it happened on that one! Folder structure stays intact but files get deleted. Lots 2+ TB of data in both cases.
Luckily I was able to get it all back with recovery software, but the time it takes to transfer/format etc.... I mean, good god.

I think it's important to learn multiple tools. There will be times when your primary tool has issues (bugs, or performance issues etc.) which another tool won't have, so you have options to move forward and aren't stuck. Resolve 14 plays the 1DX II 4K 8-bit 420 files OK, however still struggles with C300 II 4K 10-bit 422 files (both OpenCL and CUDA on OSX; will try on Win10Pro at some point). Hopefully they'll get performance sorted by the time beta is complete.
I'll purchase the $300 version, however I'd prefer to have online activation vs. a USB dongle as I switch frequently between OSX and Windows (and multiple machines + laptops).
valery akos reacted to Hans Punk in Better then iscorama 36?
When I have some spare time, I'm planning to do a little shoot with my Kowa B&H, Kowa inflight 1.75x (both with Core DNA) and iscorama pre 36 (with 3.5ft close focus mod) on full frame with recent 3-4K magic lantern crop resolutions. I will probably throw in some iscomorphot s8 2x shots in there (because it's ridiculously underrated for portrait/closeup compositions). Think the Bolex 16/32 is the only lens I'd actually be interested in trying out...the recent Bolex+ML footage from @SigurdW looks great.
valery akos reacted to roccoforte in For Sale: Iscorama Pre 36 + Tokina 0.4 + More (Los Angeles Area)
I consider the condition to be very good, though I'm no optical engineer. There are no serious blemishes, haze, marks on the glass - aside from a few tiny specs that you’d expect with a vintage lens (none of which affect the image as far as I can tell).
It's sharp, the focus is smooth and flares a gorgeous orange flare with good light source. Used with the Tokina achromat, it’s WOW.
- Iscorama Pre 36 anamorphic lens
- Iscorama taking lens with Nikon mount
- Tokina 72mm +0.4 achromat with original box and leather case. Ex+ condition
- Variable ND filter 77mm with 72-77 step up ring AND 1.2 ND filter
- Large custom built step up ring 52-55mm for mounting on other lenses, that aren’t the Iscorama taking lens.
- Original lens cap (for collection) 72mm - but it doesn't really stay on
- OPTIONAL: 55mm 1.8 SMC Takuma (the maximum focal distance for full frame).
- New, better lens cap for use 72mm and rear Nikon lens cap for Iscorama taking lens
- A nice sturdy Pelican Case!
Well taken care of by photographer / filmmaker in L.A. Stored in pelican case most of the time.
I’ll put into up on Ebay for 3000 later, but on here for 2800 USD. L.A. pickup would be great. For now US only.
I can also throw in a nice SMC Takumar 55mm (M42) lens which is really nice for full frame cameras, if you like.

Hey, my production company made this! Thanks for posting. The movie will be released this year on VOD.
valery akos reacted to Chrad in Panasonic GH5 starts shipping in 3 days. How's the 180fps slow-mo quality?
The GH5 being used to shoot 'serious movies' isn't so inconceivable to me. The 10 bit 4:2:2 4K make it a good option for very low budget films that are hoping to eventually get picked up by platforms that are seeking out or require 4K content. Yeah, it's no Alexa, but it's $2000.
On that note, if you know what you're doing, pretty much any recent camera can be used to make decent theatrical content these days. This was shot on two GH4s:

This page explains more about activating the vlog on gh5 and also supplies you with the official Panasonic Varicam lut in various formats , including vlt to use with the GH5.
If anyone needs any help converting their existing .cube luts to the required .vlt let me know as I have spent all weekend working out how to do this and convert my own batch of fave .cubes to .vlt
Here is the link to the manual if needed
