I was making some Gimbal tuning tutorials and decided to test something a bit different, it turned out to work surprisingly well, or what do you think?

Its just funny that you failed at it after the countless posts about how superior 4K is on any screen, how you always can tell, etc. That's all, no problem, just a good laugh.

Yeah, I was looking at those TV Noktons. This was meant to be a fun question, but as I was going through my gear, I thought... Why do I have all of these lenses? I do plan on making a short, or maybe even a no budget feature one day, but it's really just a hobby for me.
Right now I have a ton of decent vintage lenses, but I usually only use the same 3 and they are all in the normal range in FF terms.
If I thought about this yesterday, I would need 30 of my 50 lenses... Now I'm thinking 5 or 10 should do and I should get one really good lens... So I've been looking at a bunch of videos from the 25mm Voigtlander...
    Damn that's a nice lens.

Same old story. A company releases a product for the people that dont want a DSLR or Cinema Camera. And the people that want DSLRs or Cinema Cameras get uppset.
And as usual lots of us simply wonder why? Is it so hard to understand that others might not need, use or want the same stuff as myself...? Why get upset? Why care?
Im not speaking about this thread but more the turn we all know threads like this takes sometimes.

It always sways when you pick it up, it's just using the light pinch of the fingers around the gimbal keep it where you want it. It'll come in time with practice. It's some zen like control that develops. Then you starting sprinting with it.

Hi, ok I do work for CoreMelt so I am biased but just wanted to say that we really think this is rock solid to load every LUT you might have or find on the internet.  If you find any LUTs that it won't load we'll give you a free license if you send us the LUT so we can fix it.  And feel free to make suggestions for improvements we will be doing regular updates to this.

There is no graph that shows this info for all the color profiles unfortunately. My simpliplic generalisation is Cinema for less saturated colors, Pro for more saturation in low contrast scenes, rec709 for extreme light conditions with different light sources or very very low contrast (low light with cloudy sky for instance).
There are some tests on color accuracy with A7s profiles like this one:
    http://similaar.com/foto/flaat-a7s/technical-tests.html#color
And there are some useful general info on the color information of sony cameras:
    http://www.xdcam-user.com/2014/05/what-is-a-gamut-or-color-space-and-why-do-i-need-to-know-about-it/

Also here is the place to get more info on the Sony color profiles and how to tune them as you wish (very helpful):

For peace of mind, might it be worthwhile getting a couple more Sony batteries for the A6300? They are small and easy to carry and their mere presence will be a comfort once you see the battery bars fading before your eyes. Remember a charger too!

Just got a call from the delivery firm. The LS300 is delayed untill tomorrow. Suspect its because what the a-holes in Brussels did.
If only that had been the worst consequence of such an act.

The rx1004 is ideal as an in-the-pocket do it all for travel - i love mine. And a bmpcc for the more pre-planned moments? Again, I love mine (slr magic 12mm lens albeit quite heavy). Same cards - cheap and widely available. Cheap batteries. Possibly a cheap slider for the pocket (the baby Ratrig is ideal for travel). Who cares if they don't match precisely... It's a "once in a lifetime" holiday film you're making not a business necessity. In situations like this I think the almost negligible differences in image quality between the various option is irrelevant - which will be more fun to use?

If it were a paying client, they'd almost definitely have final cut. And you'd have been fired by now.
Treat this like a paying client, keep the directors' cut on your website/reel and meet them halfway with the changes (or ask to be paid for changes beyond the third revision).
If it's great, great, you'll get high paying clients soon. Don't let a reputation for being difficult from a small local act hurt your potential for commercial success in greater arenas.
    Work this out amicably.

The definitive response needs to come from a lawyer well versed in Canadian law. But that notwithstanding I think the tale you tell is a reminder that things do go wrong with friendly arangements and it is always best to have something written down. I would be tempted to have a lawyer draw up a template contract/agreement for this type of work so that all parties know what is proposed. A little investment and thought in advance could save a lot of needless hassle.

I would probably be the bigger man here and just let them have the footage, with a written contract stating that you are allowed to release an edited version, for use in your portfolio/showreel.
It's a live and learn situation... You may as well come out of it with something to show for your hard work, even if the band release something you do not want your name associated with.

I'm curious, in your opinion, is it more rewarding to make a living creating motion pictures for clients --or creating photo gear content on youtube and social media?  Also, how much traffic do you need to actually generate some sort of practical revenue?

    "Minorities are taken seriously"...
Even those minority groups who try to do civilised society harm?
No one - certainly not me - would object to your eloquently stated desire for a more equal world. But surely you must also chuckle at the irony that here we are in this forum discussing whether we "need 4k" and sort of ignoring the fact that others "need" clean water, healthcare, basic education & human rights (including I would argue in those countries where a lot of the gear we use is made...)
You stance wrt BH and other stores might or might not be legitimate and/or effective. I'm sure we all have our own ways of contributing and making statements so public displays of the armour of the shining knight isn't necessary.
I agree with your basic premise (assuming this to be that we need to reduce the world's inequalities).
I'm not so convinced that this is the time or the place or the vehicle to do it.
