  1. Here is a comparison between a FX9 and a Red Scarlet by my favorite camera user and tester of the Sony Cinealta F3, who switched to the FS7 and then upgraded to a FX9. He still holds the colour of the F3 in high regard but for client work he needs 4K. He is from Sweden. Not the only cool camera loving Swede doing great presentations on youtube.:) He makes some interesting points, regarding reliability and usuability and gives a sneak peak into image character and besides, I just love the fellow. 😊
  2. If it looks as valid on a GF3 it will certainly kick ass on a GX85. I would prefer to use a camera from GX85 and G7 on due to their solid 4K image and codec and for HD at least a GH3 with its 50mbit Long Gop in HD. GX has some nice bw profiles with adjustment of color hues. G7 I could check but a bit too lazy now.:) S line would be unfair but compelling to try out. All 709 profiles of course.:) Filming in vlog and turn down saturation after 709 conversion and sofore without possible colour manipulation could be a fair handicap for simulating a bw log profile. Of course no colour work permitted before 709 conversion.😊
  3. From what I read on this forum, Clog flavours on their hybrids lag behind their counterparts C300 II and Mark III even moreso. R5 in Raw does perform same latitude as S1H in its h264 codec in test by German test site slashcam, but less in dynamic range according to Cined tests. NRaw has been a bit of a riddle in post to some youtubers due to akward Nlog curve. But an Aces or other adequate workflow should solve that. It has almost the same but even a tiny bit better latitude than a S1H and the same as C70 Raw according to slashcam, bettering also a R5 in that same test. Colour fidelity is supposely astonishing. Nikon has put out convincing 8bit video hybrids with the Z6/7. Even their HD Dslrs D750 and 850 have been 8bit video marvels, such as their Apsc D5300, 5500, 7500. So they are no newbies regarding convincing image quality in video. @ghostwind That is only talking about image quality, not even mentioning full Hdmi, sturdiness, internal Prores besides Nraw. Nikon had a few aces in their sleeve during their law case with Red. You could find all about that in the insightful Eoshd thread about that topic. @Jedi Master

Slashcam have also assigned impressive latitude to the GH6, better than a FX30 and R7. @92FIf only the processing for noise and textures for the GH6 and G9 II would borrow from the GH5 II, than both would be a something like a rigged out 4K60p Bmmcc, perfect nerds and image tinkerers dream.
  5. Z8 would be an exiting choice indeed, also for me as a nerd as it would allow so much to witness as an audience, Raw magic and all of the above thrilling options which BTM_Pix has mentioned. This thread is stuffed with great insights. I still feel free to smile a bit about the amount of options shown here.:)
  6. BW challenge. Let's do it! Cinema veritΓ©. Bring your internal stabs, your gimbals, your Sony A7CII to overcook and move and shake with some camera apparatus style moves or lock it on you 20kilo monster tripod. Do it cool, do it fun. Have fun! Be brave but behave! This could be a filming challenge again, after the last one in 2019! Internal BW. Who is with it?
  7. Whatupp wizzat tumbnail above and video! Gimme some insight why u should click that most terrible of fugly thumbnails above!πŸ˜‚ @Emanuel
  8. I am stunned by the awkwardness of this thread, because arguments and suggestions go in a repetition cycle. But nevertheless amusing and interesting. A bit of a nervewracking reading pleasure though.πŸ˜‚ I find a certain kind of cheekyness and joy for ridicule in our replies in the way how specific and overly well written they become, since og poster only wants to pay thousands of dollars on expensive equipment. In this thread we show an urge to please much more than regarding many other requests before. My suggestion: buy a Red Komodo, because I want to see landscapes and cityscapes filmed with it, because it has dynamic range like a S1H or C70 and because it has internal Redraw, AF and a mirrorless mount, because it's worthwhile to reflect on the results from tech perspective. Or get a C70 and film Raw. Buy it for the same reasons I gave you for the Komodo. Now, go and buy, but don't listen to me, it's your money.πŸ˜‚

It is that what i dislike to accept. I want an honest though still highly resolved image like from the GH5 II. I second that, a GH5 III with the goodies of Mark II, which are 10 bit for 4K 60p and the cinematic resolution with smooth and creamy edges just like an Alexa. Hey, I say it again, textures just like an Alexa Pre 35. The 35 has many texture options, so I won't comment on stuff I have no experience with. I am not sure if even the S1H has that creamy but fully resolved 4K image of the GH5II. They never introduced a -1 setting for sharpness in VLog, did they? It has a -1 setting for noise reduction, so that's a cool thing. Btw GH5s has an Oplf filter iirc. So GH5 III, a GH5 II with GH6 colorscience and Pdaf for 999. I second that! Also, a GX5:) with GH5 insides in a GX7 body. 😊 But both might cannibalize the G9II. Btw, no dynamic range and latitude tests yet on Cine D. They are boosting too many ads instead of their own editorial stuff. It's become more lately.
  10. That seems very off. 20 MBps, eq to 160Mbit per second seems off for 6K "Raw" file. That's smaller than the 6K 200mbit h265 10bit 420 from the S cameras. It's also a third of the lowest of Blackmagics official numbers, which range from 500 to 1300 Mbit. @seanzzxx But all cool with me, wonders of the world.:) Good dynamic range and great color response and grading potential seem a no brainer for lovers of the full frame image. It's a S16, S35 and FF camera in one. Pretty neat.
  11. I cannot say much but give you two dear forum friends a hug in spirit and from my heart. This forum has been a comforting place for me as well. A puny little camera, nobody took serious back then for video, but you image lovers did, was my rock to hold onto in the roughest of my times, a black small GX85, my dearest trusty video mate. I filmed butterflies with it and my parents garden. I will never make fun of anyone filming flowers, except when they do it with a Leica.:)

I don't care about S5II/X on my own behalf as I am not intending to trade it in for any of my stuff I am going to have to sell. I got too much unused equilment, so a complimentary camera instead for my S1H will be cool. At the moment that would still be my S1, which I would sell. A G9 would offer additional features to find out about, especially Dual Gain, Pdaf and punsh-in preview during recording. Wanna test that Towerjazz magic and new colour!:) I have seen lowlight comparisons with the GH5s where it holds onto resolution and colours better than the latter. I just wouldn't buy into mambojambo affected textures. How could they mess up on that. Flagship cameras, at least from Panasonic, should not have unnecessary image nasties like that. If a GH5 (ll) and G9 do better in that regard it is a step back, which is unnatural by the logic of a succeeding model of the product line. So, Panasonic, do your GH6 and G9II a favour and make them the much better cameras they potentially akready are. Turn off the mambojambo.
  13. I remember to have read that about the NX500, which supposely offered also a 2.5K mode.

I just hope that Panasonic allows to turn off the mambo jambo with textures, what @Beritar was describing. Then it would be my S1 replacement and compliment my S1H. I am curious about dual gain colour. I would also love to have more "official" crop modes for S16, 2/3 inch, 16mm and so on, rather than a 2 x digizoom for 2/3" or pixel to pixel , which on the G9II in 4K mode is something around the 16mm format. Btw isn't Beritar a label under which Tokina and Sigma lenses have been sold, just like Vivitar, Soligor, Hanimex, etc? πŸ™‚

Yikes. G9II needs one ingredient from the GH5 II, a zero sharpened organic image.
  16. Something has to change. Duh! πŸ˜‚ Let's simply not buy anymore stuff. Though some of the stuff I want to in. Before getting anything I will need to sell something beforehand. I want to trade my LX10 in for a LX100. Loved the LX10 as a personal camera. But that grip and lack of EVF... LX100 means 4K S16 instead of 2/3 as well'':) I have a second LX15 though.:) Bought both of them last summer from a fitness youtuber for 120 EU!
  17. How was rolling shutter on these babes? Iirc, they are fine up to Iso 800, from there it's mush galore. Would love to test a hacked NX500 some day. But actually I should just use the gear i own instead of buying anything new or old!πŸ˜‚
  18. I was gonna give you a lol emoji, but I want to support your effort with a serious face. Maybe with a friendly but sincere smile. 😊 @QuickHitRecord The last three years have been my worst GAS times by far. But hey, lotta stuff to play with and sell. πŸ™‚
  19. Acually he should give Canon R7 a try. Supposely nice colours and Pdaf. I find S1 series not effortless in Grading. One can achieve any thinkable look but it takes work. Jedi Master wants a heavy expensive camera. He now has to decide which one, if he finds time to do so.:)
  20. Blackmagic states 65 to 162 MB per second, that's around 500 to 1300 Mbit per second. Long Gop of Lumix S series is 150 Mbps, so a third to an eigth of the numbers from BMs website for Q5. Completely different numbers! But would love me some internal braw q5 on the next S camera. And punsh-in focus during recording.😊
  21. S1 and S1H cleanup awesome in post with noise reduction in Davinci Resolve, using their light 10bit LongGop. Great image pipeline. @kye Could be the best h264 camera of all when it comes to pure image quality and the best Long Gop in the biz.
  22. So, is there a way to lock the freaggin shutter button during video recording on the S1H? I accidently stopped recording during handheld filming, fortunately only for a few seconds. @MrSMW Other than that, I again loved the experience using the camera in a semipro context, filming a pretty kewl performance. Only thing I would really want would be punsh-in focus aid during recording. Missed focus a couple times. Btw, I had my S1 on sticks as a second cam for the master shot. Great sturdy two cam setup, super powerful but slim codec, unlimited recording, small for what it can provide. But my S1 has to go or does it?:)
  23. I wish they had added Prores. Braw does not allow playback on usual players such as Vlc.
  24. Apple should rename their phone to Iphone SRV.😊 For me a LG V40 or 60 or a Xiaomi Mi10 with Mcpro24fps would be perfect to replace my old phone. Image quality in this video looks similar to GH5 in good light. Don't know how much beating the codec can take in grading. Will see some time next year when I'll get a "new" used phone. The video below also reminds me that a visually pleasing well shot video of lush sites and vistas can still be boring to me.:)
