I paid 400 for the optitek or whatever it is. (Since then I have sold the whole setup.) 
That’s kind of a lot if you’re paying 900 for the body. It’s just nice to have image stabilized lenses as an option. Not sure what they go for these days

How common are "lemons"? A serious question.

It'd still be like 2 stops shy of the Alexa if the Alexa is having a bad day. Blackmagic do great stuff, but it's not like it's a Jesus camera. It's a fairly standard sensor in a box with some decent codecs. Everyone selling Pocket to Alexa luts are snake oil salesmen who prey on this kind of wishful thinking.

I’ve used both the Fs700 and the F3 quite a bit. The F3 is in a different class with color and skin tone. The image itself is also quite a bit cleaner. I remember having to over expose by two stops constantly with the FS700.
The high frame rate features on the FS700 are amazing, but if you’re shooting primarily 24 and 60p, the F3 is great.
Keep in the mind, the F3 uses a different mount. They do make an adapter for EF, which can be found for a reasonable price on eBay. Also, to get the most out of it, you’ll want an external recorder. The black magic video assist is cheap and works well.
I do agree, a smaller DSLR is so nice to have for a gimbal, plus the lowlight from an A7S would likely come in handy.

I have only used a BMPCC4K once and it was a nightmare. It turned itself off, out of nowhere stopped recording normal clips and just recorded 1 second clips. Then it started working again. Random stuff. It was a rental but I know the owner and he said that had never happed before. Scarred me off BM. Really nice image though.
If the BMPCC6K Pro has got rid of those reliability problems it could be very interesting as everything else looks good. Can it do dual recording? I mean, I know it has various ways to record but could I record on SD and Cfast at the same time?

It’s statements like this that have made me step away form this forum. It seems every forum post is some over dramatic hyperbole reaction or continuous anti canon pitchforks (I wonder why?). How can we have a serious conversation when people like you are saying the pocket 6k destroys the c70? It is the same camera as the pocket 6k - with a tilt screen and 6 stops of ND. That’s all it takes to “kill the C70”, which was being hailed 24 hours ago?  The pocket 6k has BRAW over the c70. The c70 for the 20th time has a better sensor with more DR. The c70 has a better battery. The c70 has significantly better auto focus. The c70 records to dual SD cards. The c70 has a significantly better mount, with a speed booster that turns it into full frame. Wether any of these points mean anything to you or not, is besides the point. Even if you find the pocket 6k better for you because it has BRAW is besides the point. The point is that saying the pocket 6k “kills” the c70 is ridiculous. We live in a time where none of these cameras kill each other. A7s3, pocket 6k, c70, etc. are all amazing tools and in the right hands you’d be hard pressed to find folks that can even tell difference. I’m out.

Handheld is very doable with a lens that has OIS tho. 

Every time I tell myself to step away, I get sucked back in. Yes you will get more DR out of the C70. Let me tell you straight from the horses mouth. I have owned a C200, pocket 4k, pocket 6k, and ursa mini. I now own a C70 and it has more DR than all of them. The C70 is far superior to my C200, CLOG 2 and color grading 10 bit footage is way better than 8 bit footage or canons heavy raw lite - which is not lite at all. Your statement says C200/C300  users say they dont think the image is better, but that statement itself is confusing. The C300 is the same sensor so of course it isnt any better... The c70 destroys my c200. I am not saying its the best camera for everyone and I am not trying to fanboy all over this thread by saying all other cameras suck. But some of the comments on here are underselling a true workhorse of a camera in the C70 and are kinda downplaying how amazing the DGO sensor is.

What exactly are you shooting such that you're using 5x FS700R?

You should try shooting a roll of 35mm still. The skin tone, color, and look are you get from film are absolutely amazing. It just looks right.
I would imagine the guys on that colorist forum are likely a lot of veteran colorists that most likely value work flow over everything.

35mm motion-picture film doesn't struggle to match 4K. It can resolve up to 8K. 
70mm can resolve up to 18K. It's part of why top Hollywood filmmakers like Nolan & Tarantino still use it.
Even 16mm can resolve 4K fine which is why The Last Dance looks so good even though the footage come from the 90s. Same with pre-digital NFL Films.
While there are certainly a lot of constraints with shooting film, scan resolution is no problem by todays digital standards.

I agree with all of your post, but I have found that film's colours are generally less true to life than contemporary digital video.

I often blur photos, particularly if I add grain. Otherwise it doesn't look right.

The lack of travelling is a problem for me.
I had the choice of shooting Sheep in the UK, or closed shops under a grey steel sky in Berlin and that has just been the last 6 months 🙂

Remember the hype about the first Fullframe digital cameras? In 2004 you could buy a phase one p25 with a respectable 48x36sensor or leaf equivalents with colors that make canon cmos look amateur. The price difference wasn't that high in the beginning until the 5d came along, but if you compare the hype... 
Still today, if I have to choose shooting with a modern CMOS or an old MF I would only use the CMOS if I needed fast AF and/or Iso above 200. That's some value for a digital product.

It's hard to say it's gone wrong. It's so-called creative destruction. There's simply no need for a mass consumer camera market any more. Every home used to have a camera, be it a compact, a SLR, a Polaroid or whatever. No-one needs those any more because everybody (even the children) has a phone that will take better snaps with fewer skills, in a format that allows instant sharing.

I wonder what the used market is looking like. Because someone who was a new photo enthusiast and did little research can get a used DSLR and lenses for fraction of the cost on a camera 5-8 years old and the images really hold up. Not mention people selling off gear they don't use to pay their bills while unemployed. 

A few hundred thousand people throwing $100 into a hat is not wealth to many people. I didn’t say it was life affirming. I simply said people are doing it as a form of protest now. And the reaction of some of these certain hedge fund people just affirms why people have disgust for their behavior and their actions and more people pile on.
And probably a lot of people doing this are victims of these same hedge fund and Wall Street types that wiped out many families wealth in 2008. So I can understand their emotions and cause. So you could say it’s revenge with low risk and good rewards that seem to be paying out.
If you read my post more deeply you would realize that I was advocating for  some self-realization dose applied equally for all.

Hello - 
I'm new to the cinema line of cameras. I have a EOS R and 1DX Mii. 
The colors are very flat for me and I'm sure it's something that I am doing wrong. I have tried the REC709 straight out of camera as well as CLOG2 and then importing into Final Cut Pro X and applying the built in CLOG2 LUT. I downloaded the OWL C70 color profile to see if that would help and same result. 
I'm not very good at color correction but I tried to push up the saturation and just not getting the desired results.
Additionally, I'm getting more noise at 800 ISO than my 1DX Mii. 
I'm using a 24-105 RF L lens. 
Any pointers? Thanks in advance!
