Pretty much what I just said.
And the a7 really got a bad rep when it came to moire. It was so easy to avoid. I've had much more trouble with moire in the nx1, bmpcc and a6000 than the A7.
And none so far with the a7ii. Only had for three days though.

BSI may add a little DR, but not that much. Look at the NX1 vs the A6000 - almost identical. See here: http://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/Compare/Side-by-side/Samsung-NX1-versus-Sony-A6000___976_942
Anyone expecting a dramatic jump will be seriously disappointed.

This looks awesome. I'm going to be doing some extended traveling next year - and right now I'm thinking Macbook Air to edit in the evenings or early morning, but I'll need some additional storage. This fits the bill nicely.

Even though the OP went with the G7, I have the A5100 and haven't experienced any overheating. Make sure to move/tilt the LCD off the body. I rolled three consecutive 25-30 minute takes shooting 30p XAVC with no issues in the hot Florida sun. Its far better than the Nex5n/7 days when the camera would get really hot to the touch and shut down after a few minutes. YMMV.

I filed this rumor with the A99II, curved sensor RX2 and the A9 "pro A7" unicorns SAR has been trumpeting for the last year or so. SAR had nothing on any of the upcoming releases - he was way off with the A7RII, had nothing on the RX10II or RX100IV. He also had nothing on the A7II at the end of last year. All the announcements were a complete surprise. It appears all his insider info evaporated after the hack and hes now just making stuff up. Well, he did get the A7RII about 20 minutes before the embargo was lifted.
I'm sure we'll start seeing "SR3 - A7sII to have IBIS, 399pt AF, 4k internal and BSI - will be released later this year or early next year" rumors soon. Followed by "SR3 - A7III getting 399pt AF, 4k internal and BSI - will be released later this year or early next year". You can probably add high resolution sensor shift mode like Olympus has to the rumor mill as well - I would because it will get clicks.
He did great work, but most of that's in the past. I still visit the site daily - its just a great resource for samples and tests of all things E-mount.

I had a chance to cover an amateur fashion show over the July 4th weekend at a local (Anaheim, CA) cultural event. I had only my NX1 and thought I'd share a few of the interesting uses I found for shooting in 4K. My video is at https://youtu.be/PsHTzuANSHo.
4K on 1080p sequence will give you a free (and great quality) zoom. And that lets you go wide (by scaling the 4K at 50%) and then tight (by going to 100%). Which gives you:
A way to fake a two-camera shoot. See the first part where the adults do the walk and you see the wide and tights shots back/forth. Or you get just go tight without a zoom, like I did in the girls (100%) or boys (~60%) sections. You can get just the composition you want after the fact by cropping as needed. You can also fake a zoom in/out and pan to cover the people you want as I was forced to do in a few places. What I'm saying is: even if you don't care for 4K, shooting in 4K can be of real/practical help/use. Let me know your thoughts. And please go easy on the models, they were just attendees and their kids.

I often like to make slow zooms to have some dynamics in my shots, especially if it's static shots just to keep some interest going. That was also my main object going from 1080p to 4k when I got my GH4. I tested out a Nikon 28mm AIS some time ago and put that kind of fake dolly/slider into this little test:

Can't speak for the A6000, but I have the A5100 (because of XAVC and the touchscreen) - I shot a dance performance indoors and it was my static wide shot with the 10-18 lens on a gorillapod. I did three consecutive takes of 25, 28 and 28 minutes and there were no overheating issues. This is so much better than my old 5n or Nex7 which would overheat in less than 10 minutes on the first take and usually about 3-4 minutes with each subsequent take. I live in Florida and frequently shoot outdoors in really hot weather, the A5100 has been great for me. Can't wait for its 4k replacement.

Your lol-filled argument makes no sense whatsoever, APS-c sales completely trounce FF. And it isn't even close. APS-c isn't going anywhere, because its the dominant force in the market - plain and simple. Even Steve Jobs' corpse is smart enough to see that. Don't know why you can't. If that's your imaging division's major source of revenue, rest assured that's a top priority. APS-c/S35 is also where all the innovation lies with the big 3 (excluding m43 since canon, Nikon and Sony don't produce m43 cameras), internal 4k video, high fps stills, dual pixel AF and more are all finding their way into APS-c/S35 sensor cameras before FF. One could counter-argue FF is dying because more of the innovation is going to APS-c.
You're pushing your own uninformed opinion as fact, when Amazon sales are in fact a measure of where the market is going. Even anecdotal stuff - what cameras are available in large retailers such as Best Buy and Walmart - low end APS-c Canon's and Nikons. FF has not seen mass adoption on the level of APS-c and it never will because costs put it out of reach of many casual users - and that's where the sales numbers lie.
Pros make up a very, very small percentage of the market and have specialized needs that are served by small-volume niche products - hence cameras like the 1dx, D4s, FS7 and so on that use bits and pieces of other models to leverage the costs of development across multiple lines. If you have actual facts to back up your argument, and not just your opinion please provide them.
    Cheers

Not me and I currently own two FF and two APS-c cameras, and have owned a few m43 as well. The beauty of APS-c is that it really falls in the middle of M43 and FF -- smaller/cheaper lenses than FF, bigger sensor and higher IQ/DR than M43. APS-c isn't going anywhere, look at the Amazon rankings for ILC's, all of the top sellers are APS-c. There's a small advantage with FF in terms on noise/DR - though not much and in many cases there's no advantage at all (Canon FF vs. Sony/Samsung APS-c). DOF is really the only place FF has a clear advantage, but even then its only one stop. And geez, look at the size/price of the new FE 35.
FF has its advantages from an IQ standpoint, but lenses are more expensive and much larger. Depends on your needs and budget, but APS-c is the biggest part of the ILC market because it offers the best IQ (talking stills) for the money. A better test from your original post would be to put the FE 35/1.4 on the A6000 and the A7, so you're comparing two 24mp images with the same sensor bloodline. Fuji and Sony are so different because of the X-trans rendering. The A7s is the outlier in the discussion because of its crazy ISO's, but you're limited to 12mp and below 3200 it isn't anything special compared to any current FF and some APS-c sensors when you downsample the images to 12mp.
APS-c is the midsize sedan of the ILC market - bland and boring, but sells better than any other segment.

Interesting seeing the results from the LX100. Rumors are flying that Sony has a LX100 competitor coming this week as a RX100 refresh. Panasonic really nailed that one as its without peers. Wish it had a mic jack.

I'm still on CS5, but trying to divorce myself from Adobe and I've been on the fence about FCPX while learning Resolve 11. Pretty much all of my shooting/editing is ENG style. The mulitcam and audio improvements may make it possible for me to dump Adobe for good. Sound is the weak spot for me in 11. I'm not a digital artist so Capture One is replacing LR and PS. The creative cloud can suck it.
Great job Blackmagic. Now build a 4k pocket and take more of my money.
EDIT: just saw this on the R12 press release: The update to DaVinci Resolve 12 will be available in July for download from the Blackmagic Design website free of charge for all current DaVinci Resolve customers.

I would suggest something like the Sony RX10 or Panasonic FZ1000 if you don't want to go with a traditional video camera. Both use the same sensor, have mic inputs, the Sony has the faster lens, the Panny shoots 4k and had a fully articulating screen. If you're dipping your toes into doc work, these are great options.
Bob Krist is a National Geographic photographer and he shoots a lot of his stuff with the RX10. Here's a couple good reads from him.  Check out his Vimeo page, stunning work, lots of it shot on the RX10.

The Chris got a reaction from Geoff CB in nx500 4k crop mode
I was kind of thinking the same thing.  But Samsung is a little vague on its spec sheet, if you read Dpreview people are discovering the 120fps option and Samsung only lists a Slow/Fast mode in the video specs.  Perhaps the crop is an updated option since the processor can do full sensor readout, Samsung seems to be continually discovering more features that are made possible by the considerable processing power in the NX1.  I'm still holding off ordering though.
I've seen the 240fps screenshot too, there has to be another big NX1 update coming.  The more I shoot with it, the more I like it.  My NX1 just replaced the A7s, its so much faster and more responsive, better ergonomics and much easier to set up.  I decided 4k internal was better for me.  If the NX500 is a dud, there's always the LX100.

Crop factor makes the NX500 a no go for me, was considering it as a gimbal cam, not anymore. Though as a new NX1 owner, I hope its added via firmware to my camera so my 16-50 gets a little extra reach.
