Went out to shoot this mornings game, new rig (as posted above) and new monopod (one of ebay's cheapest).
I didn't have time to test the rig out before going to the game, and the verdict is....  The head on the new monopod is an example of you-get-what-you-pay-for and overall it's slightly too long, and moving the mic forwards resolved the conflict with my forehead, but not the conflict with the brim of my hat.  DOH!!
New plan is to move the mic to the side to make it hat-compatible, and to modify the monopod to remove the head.
This is my first attempt at putting the mic to the side:

I've disassembled the monopod, but unfortunately the head didn't mount to the body via a 1/4-20 so I'll have to order a 1/4-20 and install one myself.  I figure I'll be using it with the monopod basically vertical anyway as I'll be panning basically the whole time, so I won't need the head.  Watch this space...

Had two back to back shoots yesterday! Busy busy (had to turn down three other jobs for that day as well).

Meant I needed to put together a 2nd bag for the people who were covering me on the 1st shoot while I went to do my 2nd shoot of the day.

And then today, I felt quite short.... twice! haha
    (I'm actually 6' 3" / 190cm tall)

Used an applebox and a small step ladder.

I finally finished that roll of filament so Black is the new Electric Blue
If you did want to go wireless with your project, Bluetooth might be a bit too short range.
The easiest thing to do would be to use two Arduinos (one with the wiichuck and the other connected to the tripod head) and put one of these HC12 modules on each one.

They are about £4 each and will let you have a wireless serial link between the controller and the head of in excess of 1km as opposed to probably 20-30m of bluetooth.
They are really simple to implement in your code as the library lets you address them exactly as you would a serial port for debugging etc so you should be able to get it up and running in your current sketch really quickly by sending the values from the Arudino with the wiichuck that you would have sent to the controlling pins as data out to the HC12 serial port instead and have the Arduino with the head attached picking them up and actioning them.
Mmmm.....I might even think about making that the 73rd project that I'm simultaneously working on as I've just thought of a way to send camera data to it as well to make a cheap high end PTZ camera.

I have a Bescor Head too and I made a hack to control it with wii remote and arduino!
I think it can also be controlled throw bluetooth in the same way (with some wireless controller in a electric blue 3d printed box...)
They are slow even in its faster speed.
So probably is better a gimbal (like ziyun crane 2) with tripod legs and wireles remote.

If you’re delivering to cinema, it hardly matters. Most festivals still ask for 2K DCPs or even Blu-Ray.
On a good cinema projector, a 2K DCP looks exceptional if you master it properly.
I’ve been shooting 2X for almost a decade, before there were affordable monitors, 4K/high DR DSLRs, or single focus solutions. Composition rules apply even if the image is squashed.
Wether you crop the sides or not, stretch 2X or 1.5X, the vertical lines of resolution remain the same. Perceived resolution is a funny thing.
It’s infinitely more important to get a sharp scope and a taking lens that works well with it... and then to nail your focus.
I prefer a 2X scope for the look, and the potential inconveniences are easily solved. The single most helpful tool with any anamorphic is a good monitor that can desqueeze and crop your image. Do yourself a favor and grab a SmallHD that runs the latest firmware. It’ll desqueeze and crop to any configuration.
Anamorphic is just something you have to jump into and learn for yourself. It’s comparatively easy to do these days. Pick a scope and start experimenting, learn your rig and adjust your setup as you encounter things you want to improve.

So basically the big improvements over the G80/G85 (which I'm assuming this is a successor to) are:
New 20mp sensor (from the GH5?) Better AF 120fps in 1080p VlogL Headphone jack Better weather sealing OLED screen USB Charging Better ergonomics (dedicated buttons for ISO, exposure, white balance) And the downgrades:
1.26x crop in 4k over 1.18x on the G80/G85 More expensive at launch than G80/G85 Seems like a fairly standard incremental update to the product line. Probably not enough to get me to upgrade my G80 though.

Grimor reacted to BTM_Pix in Sennheiser XSW-D Batteries
When this system was announced, there was a discussion over the internal rechargeable battery not only in terms of run times but also over longevity and if it failed would that be game over for the units.
At the time, I speculated that based on the power spec quoted by Sennheiser and the shape of the units then it was likely that it was going to be a standard off the shelf battery (a 3.7V/850mAh  14500) so not only should it be possible to replace a dead battery, it shouldn't be that much of a challenge to make it swappable if you needed really long run times in the field.
    So.....now that I actually have one, I thought I'd have a look.

And, yes indeed, it is a standard 3.7V/850mAh 14500 battery.
You can pick these up for less than £1 each and a charger will set you back about £5-7.
The connector to the board is also just a standard connector so if you really need the longer run times and swap out capability its pretty straightforward to fashion this yourself and have all day run times for both receiver and transmitter for under £20.
Now, where did I put that warranty form....

While I occasionally do some video and photo work, I've given up on it as a profession.

I do drywall work for a living, it pays extremely well, is always in demand, and is a skill that changes very little over time. My stress and happiness is better for it. You don't have to constantly keep up with the latest and greatest tech.

Though I will say a big factor for me is that I realized I don't enjoy editing video, I'm such a perfectionist that I would have constant stress during the edit. Pretty much killed film projects for me unless I'm working as part of a team.

    A few things first:
What does the speedbooster now make your sensor - is it S35/APS or FF?
    - If it's S35/APS, then the 58mm isn't going to cut it. You'll have to use an 85mm. (if it's FF, then that becomes 135mm).
If you take off the Speedbooster & use the native M43, then you'll be able to use the Helios - in fact you could use a 50mm lens or you might get away with something smaller so try a 35 or a 40mm.
That's your problem - you're using the wrong size taking lens.
The larger Kowa will enable you to use a 45mm (maybe a 40mm) on APC size (with your speedbooster) & a 35mm on M43.
Also, another thing to remember is that by using the Sankor 16D you will be getting a wider field of view than 85mm or 50mm, so don't get hung up on that! The Sankor 16D is a nice lens, so just work with it, rather than against it. Also what people tend to forget, or never knew, is that these anamorphic adaptors actually work best with longer focal length taking lenses - the wider the taking lens the more distortion etc. you will get!
