I know this quote from Inazuma was a few weeks ago, but it is very good advice.
I have been extensively testing various profile settings for my GX8 using an x-rite passport and resolve.
In short I have made these findings :
    1) Natural profile gives the best skin tones and overall accuracy of colours, but with too much saturation, particularly in the red channel
    2) Standard just seems to add saturation to the base level natural profile -> Not so good
    3) There is no point in Cinelike D as natural profile has more accurate colours and I could not detect any significantly increased DR
    4) There is no need to de-saturate to -5 unless you want that for artistic reasons. -2 for saturation is optimal to reduce the Panny over saturated reds and give more accurate overall colour rendition.
    5) I agree with Inazuma that Natural 0, -5, -5, -2 gives the best results so far, and that is what I will be using from now on, but testing will continue.....

DevonChris reacted to Cinegain in Is video art or a job? (Share Your Perspective)
Because of my actual day job giving me so many great oppertunities I felt obliged to capture some of those moments. That started out as photography... my first 1080p camera (Canon SX1 IS) just blew me away and I fell in love with video... started to do more with it in my free time. With the bridgecamera I did begin to mind the noise in sub-optimal lighting conditions and lack of manual focus mostly when I figured I needed to step up to either the GH2 or 550D/T2i. I went with the more compact (carrying around friendly) system and have stayed true to the MFT system since (GH2, GH4, G7, GX80, E-M1, BMPCC, Z Camera E1) with the exception of the Nikon D5300. I'm already happy with my current day job, but I'm hoping that in the near future I can cut some hours and do filmmaking on the side commercially, I'm all for getting paid to do what you love (I just happen to like more than one thing). But for the time I'm just having fun with video and experimenting with techniques looking for an own style. I just strive to capture the beauty of something and do it justice. But I probably have too much of a technical approach to achieving this. I see other filmmakers that are more creative. They don't just capture moments, they create them. That's really the thing I've got to nail down now.

DevonChris got a reaction from jonpais in 5 reasons why I will be getting a Panasonic GH5
As a Panasonic owner, and ex Nikon user, I'm intrigued by this oft stated view about "Panasonic Colours".
My experience is that if you take care of white balance and experiment with profiles and really get to know your camera, then it is as easy to get good colours from a Panasonic as it is from a Canon (or in my case, Nikon) camera.
Why not create your own LUT or standard set of controls/profiles and apply them in post, for example?
If you want a thick image to grade, hook up an external recorder. The cost of the Panny GH4/GH5 level cam and external recorder will be less than a C100ii, but the image quality is definitely comparable if not better (1080 of course, not the 4K that is on offer from the Panny's).
Although I am impressed by my GX8 I am no means a Panny fan boy, but there does appear to be some sort of myth circulating that Panasonic colours somehow don't cut it.

That is one of the reasons why this thread should remain on the forum. So that in future his previous advice can be assessed in the light of this thread ie be treated as suspect.
I suggest to @Andrew Reid that he must keep this thread on the forum but lock it when ES has refunded the people he scammed.
However I also suggest that Andrew writes a short summary on the first post that summarises this thread so people don't have to trawl through the endless pages to find the relevent points : ie
Ebrahim Saadawi was accused by the OP of scamming him Two other people came forward to say that they had also been scammed by him After a lot of persuasion Ebrahim admitted to the scams and attempted to verify his identity Ebrahim also admitted to extensive lying about his circumstances and experience in cinematography and consequently all his advice should be treated as inaccurate and possibly misleading Ebrahim eventually refunded the three people he admitted to stealing from (Hopefully) Ebrahim has now been banned from the EOSHD forum (hopefully) If Ebrahim is banned, then I think that will be shown on his status with every one of his previous posts so that will help alert future users to the unreliability of his advice.

Unfortunately, Ebrahim, when you chose to steal from other people, you risked ruining your reputation.
I think this thread should remain on the forum, but locked, onced the matter is resolved. You are only refunding these people (if you actually do) because of the pressure brought upon you by this thread. If the OP had not started it, you might have been tempted to scam more people, given your previous success.
You are a criminal because you have stolen from (at least) three people and you are a liar because you have lied repeatedly and continuously. These are not desirable characteristics for a Dentist starting out on his career and now future employers will be able to see how untrustworthy you are.
You brought this upon yourself and risked a huge amount.

That's too bad. He seemed smart and passionate and had his own aesthetic views. I always liked the t2i, too. I did my best work with that camera.
I hope he translates his enthusiasm into storytelling and making a short and if he's exiled from this site he forgets its fixation on quantitative metrics. He's honest–too honest. And if too much honesty gets you banned while sociophatic dishonesty gives you empathy, well... I suppose it's good the best of us was banned. He won't get scammed by a sociopath.
I hope he forgets it all and makes the next Tiny Furniture. The first step is living a life interesting enough to make a film about. That life isn't lived here. Godspeed, Zach. Wherever you are. I look forward to your opus, but think big. The world is huge. Or think small. Our basest emotions run more in common with other people than we ever dare to admit... Admit it–publicly–and you hit a chord.

In the UK, and I guess other countries too, employers are now checking the online presence and social media profiles of applicants.
Type in "Ebrahim Saadawi" into Google and this thread comes up half way up the first page for me. That is potentially a big problem.

wow.. i could tell this kid had mental issues but that is some next level borderline sociopath character traits.. talk about self analysis lol.. this whole case is definitely odd.. being an active member on a forum for years, then a quick meltdown with scamming, gloating, ridiculous cover up.. and admission of guilt.. definitely not your ordinary scammer.. did this kid really think he'd get away with this.. or is it one big self-destructive path? i mean we've all been young and done dumb things but this really takes the cake.. theft in the middle east is no petty crime either so i'm really stunned by such foolishness .. really this can only be explained by severe mental disorder which really is quite sad, especially since there seems to be an intelligent side to him considering some of his contributions. but i wouldn't take pity on him either. he lied to you guys for years.. scammed people, gloated about it.. and we don't even know yet the exact magnitude of it.. i still think he's just trolling for attention and this thread is like his biggest accomplishment..

Fact 1 : ES is a criminal who went to great lengths to steal from affluent people
Fact 2 : ES lied repeatedly and extensively. He is not to be trusted at all.
Fact 3 : There is severe poverty in Egypt (I have been several times). $200 to someone ln Egypt could represent several months wages. This is a lot of money, well worth the effort to set up elaborate scams
Fact 4 : ES was found out this time, but it is very likely that he will scam rich Westerners again, perhaps with more skill.
Don't trust him at all and try and prevent his criminal activity in the future.
