I think that people rag on these cameras because they'd never be comfortable not seeing every detail in the shadows. "Crushed blacks. I see CRUSHED BLACKS" is all they'd say.
Noam Kroll has an interesting article "How dynamic range is killing your images" or something like that. People get obsessed with preserving highlights and shadows at the expense of a creative image.

I often see this "low light" thing coming up with regards to Ursa 4.6K....
Some of my favourite frames from the Ursa 4.6K, including some low light shots.  Most of the car interiors are lit available light with a single matchstick and some cyan outside on the windscreen.  These are frames I've take from dallies on a series called Queen Of The South. There are graded in CDL (no kets or secondaries) and no noise reduction.  I've also included some before and after frames of a scene in the first episode in the series where we ended up shooting well after sunset with no lighting.  Again, no NR.

I would add, I own a 7q and a 7q+.
I couldn’t think of anything worse as an operator than having to rely on an external recorder that you have to power and cable reliably. It will get in the way, especially for hand held.

I was director and DP for a small budget commercial shoot yesterday and I chose the Digital Bolex as my camera of choice over the 1DC sitting in my bag. 
I put it on the MoVI M5 for the first time and it was a ton of fun having a sexy global shutter while getting gimbal shots! 
I honestly believe that if you light for it, the D16 creates some of the most stunning, rich colored footage I’ve ever seen. 
I had the option to rent a full RED Dragon kit, but I CHOSE Bolex with MFT mount. Shot using the rokinon 12mm MFT lens on the gimbal to keep the weight down, and the rest shot on old Super 16 Zeiss Super Speeds PL’s. The 9mm and 25mm were my favorites. 
I’m excited to put the edit together and show you what I got. All I can say after shooting with it all day yesterday is, it’s still a relevant camera for 2017 and creates stunning images that are truly unique.

I'm not really following this....are you suggesting that regardless of which camera you buy from Panasonic, or what you pay for it, all their cameras should be capable of the same features and IQ?

Ad hominen attacks are highly frowned upon in most forums.
Granted, this is a forum about using mostly still cameras for video.  But still, if things do go and get heated, things do need some moderation, and someone with enough of a temperament to not put themselves into the equation.
I really am not the type to be a moderator, especially on this forum, when several users have it out for me.  
I understand completely why they would - based on how I word my posts.
In the future I will not post from my cell phone in a hurry.
Words really can hurt people, and I am trying, day by day to be more empathic, and less seamingly preachy.
I am in no ways in any position to preach to anyone, and to explain my original post that was deleted.  I  see B&H as not an ethical company, and yet, I still buy from them.
That was the point I was trying to make - at what point do we  actually stand behind our own ethics, and when do we cave because B&H has the best deals and fastest shipping?
That's all I was trying to say.

I went over there earlier to see what it was all about regarding RED selling the cameras through the Apple store and pretty much did this.

Hey no worries am not offended just putting over another viewpoint - to me the price of the 2 cameras in question is fs7 territory which has been gobbling up the mid tier market for a while now and so their 4k 10 bit XAVC codec has become well established and often asked for - mainly production companies with in house editors in my experience - and going forward it would be foolish of me not to buy a camera that offers this. If you've ever played around and pushed log footage in 8 bit and then 10 bit the difference becomes fairly obvious. Admittedly Canon clog in 8 bit plays nicer than Sony's 8 bit slog2 and especially slog3 - but times have moved on and we are now talking about clog3 with the c200, and hopefully more than 12 stops of dr. 10 bit would make this so much easier to work with

Your obsession with RAW has very little basis in how 95% of people are going to use this camera... no production companies I know will touch RAW, but the mid tier ones do want a decent 4k 10 bit file (If the Canon c200 had 4k 10 bit I would be seriously considering that too). They are both great sounding cameras but are aiming at different folk with different needs - no need to keep trying to think of ways it's not as good as your beloved Canon...
And until they actually announce the actual price we don't know for definite how much the EVA is. It was mentioned in another thread that  Panasonic said the hvx200 was going to be under $10k when 1st announced and it came in at $6k...granted that is an extreme example but let's just wait and see. Am excited for both cameras, they both have their strengths and weaknesses

the a6300 4k exported as 1080 to me looks nicer than the a7s but then I really didn't like the colour science of the a7s and sold it pretty quickly. The colour is much improved I think with the a6300 and it is great in low light up until about iso 6400 - then the a7s pulls ahead.
