  1. Don't start anamorphising... it's like another level, suddenly sphericals get the household items treatment.
  2. Sorry I thought he was saying it was shot on Red, I should have checked the description on YT. My mistake.
  3. They are all just time-lapses though... would it not have been easier to just take a regular camera to those places and shoot pictures?
  4. 17mm and up wouldn't really be that wide, depends what you're after I guess. I have Tokina 11-16, it's pretty average to be honest, I mean it's usable and the image is good enough but nothing about it is all that interesting.
  5. If you look at his posts you will see he's a classic hype man... everything he sells is "the rarest", "most phenomenal", "sharpest" lens.
  6. Good to hear, it's a neat trick, think I read it on here somewhere actually. The Kowa and the Elmoii are pretty much the exact same lens .
  7. Some nice images in there. Quite a lot of veiling going on, is that from Rectilux or Kowa? Have you blackened the edges of the Kowa?
  8. I think it will probably work, because it works with a metabones SB on m4/3.
  9. Is why I brought up MLRaw, which has a much higher bitrate yet still the advantages in 10bit aren't that great. Above poster is right, V-log makes more of a difference, but there's still some drawbacks in certain situations.
  10. If you look to MLraw threads you will see a similar opinion to yours. People were so excited about the new option of recording in 10bit Raw, but in reality they soon discovered that 10bit Raw isn't really as useful as they would have thought. 12bit Raw is kind of the minimum to be bothered shooting with and 14bit Raw really highlights the positives of shooting a file in Raw format. Obviously the GH5 isn't shooting Raw, but I would think a similar theory would apply (afterall 10bit is 10bit). You may get a slight bit of an advantage in colour grading but ultimately a well exposed 8bit h.246 file vs a well exposed 10bit h.246 file is going to be indistinguishable to the end viewer... I wish these companies would give us a proper Raw option. GH5 with 14bit Raw would be an amazing camera.
  11. I use Lexar CF cards and they work great... Maybe you got a fake card, I would send it back for a replacment/ refund.

    Gh5 or 5d mk iv?

Yeah my 7D raw files really please me, I use it over GH4 most the time. Pink cast can be a few different issues, how long ago was this? They have made a lot of progress with stuff like that now. I think on rare occasion it can actually be the sensor also. Raw on a camera with DPAF would be cool.

What was wrong with the WB? if you're shooting Raw video WB basically means nothing.

You totally missed the point... Point being there's no perfect camera, use the right tool for the right job.

Because you also want a full frame camera for stills and 1080p? MJPEG has better motion imo. You could say the same things about lots of cameras... Why buy a GH4 that crops for 4K??? Why buy a GH5 when it's footage wasn't fully supported in NLE's??? BLA BLA BLA... etc.

    Gh5 or 5d mk iv?

Correct. Raw video actually requires less demand from hardware, all cameras with fast enough write speed can achieve it. GH5 certainly could, so don't go bad mouthing Canon for not delivering Raw video when no one else is (except Blackmagic) in that price range... I still think GH5 is the more versatile production tool for most people, but I could see cases where a 5DIV would be the advantage, right tool for the right job .

People need to stop saying MLraw workflow "isn't simple"... it's as simple as any other camera I use and it edits on my computer better than h.264. Only thing I think sucks about MLraw is the fact you don't get previews playing back in real time and with sound in camera. That's the only thing that really sucks for me but it isn't a deal breaker imo. Here's a quick video we just did with GH4, GH5, Gopro, MLraw. (MLraw was normalised to rec709 to better match other footage). Almost wouldn't matter what we shot it on, only Gopro footage stands out to me a bit. Password: 123 Not sure if I would buy a 5DIV right now unless I wanted the crazy autofocus or good stills, but I think it would still be a nice camera to have if I could afford one. GH5 is a more versatile production tool for video though I think.
  18. It does matter in some programs though, because your footage will come out looking totally wacky if you shoot AutoWB as AutoWB doesn't apply the metadata to MLraw in the same way... I mean yeah, you could shoot auto and add possibly another pointless step to every file (at least in Resolve) if you want, anybody is free to do what they want after all. WB is just metadata, but if you set AutoWB some programs (like resolve) will then take the lowest possible setting for whitebalance and apply that to your files... for me this is just annoying and pointless to have to normalise every shot before you can even see what it is properly. If you set to a Kelvin figure (5400 as an example) you can just adjust later and no matter what program you open it in it's going to look somewhat normal. I prefer this approach.
  19. As long as you don't use auto WB and shoot in K WB it shouldn't matter.
  20. Yes I agree, I said the complete opposite to that .
