  1. I can think of better words than "enigma" if you want, no need to complicate things.
  2. Kowa 8z had body stripped down for less weight. There's smaller 2x anamorphics out there but they are super rare.
  3. I was saying this would be a good idea not too long ago in a thread and everyone was quick to jump on me and tell me I was a fool because no one would ever do E-mount except Sony... Cool if true, E-mount makes a lot of sense for most low budget shooters.
  4. Yeah because of the price tag. Also maybe those focal lengths. I guess it's possible to find some more vintage/Russian stuff for that price possibly, but it's always hard to get a set together all in nice condition..
  5. You can do a 48fps mode on 7D you don't need to stretch.
  6. I can also do some 28mm 4:3 video mode only on 7D. You could use maybe a 40mm pancake on FF, but I honestly think around 50 is as wide as is good as when you start getting wider you get a lot of imperfections (they might be good for some projects though).
  7. Wrong. You just downgrade firmware and everything is fine.
  8. Won't be anything close to 4K on 700D. This article should be talking about 7D imo, as it's the best value for money with usable sustained write speeds due to CF cards. (You can almost shoot 1080p 14bit RAW on 7D already, it would benefit greatly from this port).
  9. It converts the mount to EF from FD, I don't see how the quality should be any different. Infinity is spot on from my tests. http://edmika.com
  10. I emailed Edmika and got his conversion mounts for them. I really like them, the lenses end up a bit smaller and lighter than they once were and the material he uses is super nice, they mount perfectly with no play or stiffness. Highly recommended.
  11. I can shoot 35mm on 7D with the Kowas (vignette in photo mode). So I'd say something a bit over 50mm (55 maybe) is really the widest you could shoot on 5D for video.
  12. I came to the same conclusion using all the various Kowas I have (baby and otherwise), basically being that I really can't go any wider with a WA adapter than I can with the widest taking lens. To use the WA adapter I have to use a longer taking lens and I end up at the same focal length pretty much. Also I tried some super big WA adapters but didn't like the IQ at all. I like most people thought that this was going to be a cool way to shoot wider, but it didn't really turn out like that haha.
  13. I was doing a similar thing but then converted my best FD's to EOS. I use an Elan 7e most the time now and an OM10 if I'm shooting film and want to keep it small.
  14. Good suggestion, but you need Edmika mount conversion, as adapters don't exist. This is still a very cost effective solution imo, especially if you take into consideration the great price of FD glass.
  15. It's a Vlog for people who also live mundane lives, they see Casey who has a slightly better mundane life than their own and aspire to be like him I think. "Wow, that would be so cool to be Casey, imagine if boxes showed up at your house and you unwrapped them!", "Casey was poor like us once, I can relate to that!", "Look he has family he has to deal with just like me!"... etc. It is a reality TV program for the internet.

I knew this was going to be loaded haha. Personally I actually found the first more entertaining by quite a margin (I almost stopped the second before the end and thought about skipping through it). I chose the first because I could follow some type of story. Although it wasn't super interesting it was at least something. The second vid although having a few good visuals was meaningless to me. I've been to most those places and seen most those things myself, the edit also started to make me feel sick halfway through and I wondered constantly if this was actually supposed to mean something (the weird repetition of similar shots/spots made me think not and that it was just some show-reel). I think it's the same as always, a good story trumps equipment, but the combination of the two can be really powerful if done right. That being said you need to use the right look for the right project, I think the crappy DV quality of the first vid helped bring across the stories aesthetic, if he had shot it with an ARRI mini I don't think it would have had the same vibe. There you go.
  17. I also have one. Picture quality is certainly usable and seems to exceed SLR RF by some margin. Flares seem almost the same with it on or off to my eye. It introduces a little softness towards the edges and highlight blooming at the most wide open aperatures but that's not always super apparent. Focus ring can be tightened or loosened with those hex screws, just be sure not to over tighten or the ring will no longer turn . The ring and lens assembly has a little play which is fairly annoying (along with super short focus throw) but for the price I guess you can't be complaining too much given the alternatives. If I had the money I would still buy the Core DNA over anything else. For the money I'd say this product is well worth it.
  18. Thinking that some Vlogging kids have a better chance of making money or holding down a decent wage than you would be a silly assumption to make imo. 100,000 views on Youtube between a 3 person Vlog channel is nothing. The market is saturated, there's so many people out there all trying to do the same thing, breaking through at this point isn't exactly easy. If you're an early adopter and can get started on something before others (like Casey) you might have some easier path to success, but as soon as it's a known thing being a professional in any given field is just as hard as each other. With Vlogging instead of focusing on great images you may now just have to focus on making a ton of content, which I'd argue is just as hard as focusing on great images and less rewarding.
  19. The amount of people who say something like this is surprising. Have you used MLVFS?
