You may still get a little vignette with the XL and Nikon 50mm. I think the quality with the speed booster is much better imo. I use canon L series and nFD with the XL on GH5 and the look is noticably different than without (if you're after that shallower DOF especially in wides with less distortion). I love how 24mm f2 looks on the XL. Having the SB means you can stop down a little for sharpness and still have a good amount of light transmission. Obviously this isn't always what you want, but when you do it's pretty helpful.

Sorry yeah, I meant South coast NSW. I live in NSW.
-
Vignette is ok, but if it's moving around like that it looks horrid imo. Better to use a longer taking lens if you want to stabilise. Where are these shots taken? Looks like south coast AUS.

New forum looks horrible imo. Much prefer the old style.

Not sure if I shoot "films" I'd call them more video clips (easier to do alone I guess). I shot and edited this one all by myself. It may not seem like much, but the conditions I worked in for 5 weeks was pretty exhausting. Standing mostly in chest high water with a tripod and a 5/4 wetsuit, having to make sure every clip you film is spot on because it could be the only time the person lands one of these tricks makes for a pretty tense working environment (there's no "oh can you just do that again?" type scenario).

Not a fan of that "First EVA1" video. I'm sure we will see good stuff coming out though.

Just a rumour, not substantiated as far as I've seen.

There's a lot of people in China.

There's a few threads on ML forums where 8-bit Raw is discussed, mostly coming to the conclusion that it isn't a very good idea. -

I think 8-bit Raw would be pretty crappy to be honest. -
Panasonic GH5 Review and exclusive first look at Version 2.0 firmware

You are right. Buy 2x lenses. -
Harder than it sounds I think. But if it's real cheap it's worth trying I guess.

Looking at the flares it seems as though your anamorphic is slightly misaligned.
-
Yes, the EVF is super good, I use it a lot. Vs other Lumix/Sony mirrorless cameras where it's unusable pretty much.
-
XL for sure. If you're interested in anamorphic buy some vintage stuff.

MLRaw is RICH. I'm still shooting MLRaw for sure, but GH5 is another tool in my bag. For most gigs I shoot with the GH5 4K60p and 1080 120fps as it's a better tool, if I'm shooting something that needs the richest look I use MLRaw. It's like the Mayweather Vs McGreggor fight, the GH5 is a MMA fighter, it's never going to beat 14Bit raw in a fight of colour accuracy and richness... however, shooting with an ML hacked camera you can't even shoot 4K 60p or 120fps... there's no comparison to be made in that regard. In summary I'm still pretty impressed by GH5s colours and DR, especially coming from GH4, I don't think anyone could be dissapointed with this camera unless they use AF a lot, something which I basically never use since I shoot mostly vintage glass and anamorphics. (I use GH5 with Metabones XL).

I was pretty sceptic about the GH5 at first, I ended up pulling the trigger on a good deal and I'm glad I did. Easily worth the money to me, the quality/spec is amazing for the price. I came from GH4/gx85. If you're doing paid jobs/ you're serious about video, then the GH5 will not disappoint.

2.4:1 then if you de-squeeze 2x (50%).
-
Depends what res you shot it in... Yes 2x is 50%.
-
No formula, hence why I said "close too". These adapters are usually close to 2x stretch at infinity and then more like 1.8-1.9x closer up.
-
Half the original height (or close too).

Use 7D. Sometimes overlays don't display, it's just random for me, I've got used to framing squished anamorphic without proper guides, you should be able to get used to framing cinemascope. I don't have any other tips, besides using tape maybe, or clear contact with a line drawn on it in black.

Would you sell just the RHCDNA?
