Yeh Phil 650gms is on the bulky side but manageable. The latest Nikon and Tokina 24-70mm f2.8 zooms are much worse ,they have bloated out to one kg and you sure notice that with a days filming.

Guys in Japan are saying the D850 sensor has no connection to Sony.It was made by a company called "Towerjazz " to Nikon's required specifications.

I have the 85mm T1.5 so far very pleased with it . Was only Aus $380 brand new the Nikon 85mm f1.4 has autofocus but is $2,300 !! However Lensrentals have found the Samyang/Rokinons have high repair rates https://www.slrlounge.com/rokinon-samyang-bower-lenses-long-term-quality-review/

Anybody using Fujifilm cameras for pro video work?
Aussie Ash replied to Tim Sewell's topic in Cameras
Hi Tim---There is a wedding photographer near Sydney that uses an X-T2 as one of his bodies . His name is James Day http://www.daylight.com.au/blog/fujifilm/ -
Fujifilm have also announced they are releasing Xmount versions of their cine lenses by the end of this year. Perhaps there is more video oriented body in the pipeline ???

Matt Hickey sounds pleased with his "Mamiya conversion" the rendering on his cats at 4.2 is awesome.

Bioskop.Inc "The only other consideration might be to go the Medium Format lens route & I've been really impressed by some of these lenses recently - anyone have experience with MF lenses? (Looking for budget conscious lenses btw)" I have been having a look at the same prospect as Pentacon six to Canon or Nikon adaptors are easy to find Zeiss Jena Pentacon six medium format for video https://frankglencairn.wordpress.com/vintage-zeiss-glass-on-modern-cameras/ Mamiya 67 lenses on a Nikon D810 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djFh2-rwqeg

Well done Liam !!! a finished project ,it sure made me laugh ! I am surprised that you did both the female voices ,they sure sound like ladies but some of their words are sort of slurred and hard to understand. Have you done any work with normal puppets like Seasame st or "Yoda" some of them are very convincing characters

Here is a test from "Vintage Lenses for Video" "LOMO OCT19 75mm T2.2 Russian Cine Lens, which happens to be my first ever 4K video as well and what a great lens to kick off the 4K tests with. The whole video was shot wide open and even in 4K, this lens is super sharp. Flares are out of this world and bokeh is super smooth and painterly. As you stop down this lens it gets even sharper and flares become more controlled, so it can give you both dreamy magic and superb performance in controlled lighting." There is also a Lomo OKC cine Jupiter 9 85mm f2 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LOMO-OKC-Jupiter-9-f2-85mm-USSR-cine-camera-AKS-4m-770062-/272768288645?_trksid=p2385738.m2548.l4275

I am pretty sure Duclos no longer service Lomo lenses (parts difficult to get & quoting on repair time and cost difficult). Here is a quote from Matthew Duclos back in 2009 when they were servicing them "Lomo lenses range quite a bit in age and style. Most of them being acquired were built in the 70's and a few from the 80's. This makes them nice and cheap and many people are taking advantage of that (good for you). But that doesn't change the cost of labor when servicing the lenses. Rob was right, it is costly to service Lomos. This is mostly due to their poor build quality. While servicing, the set screws tend to break off and require even more time to remove. Many of the components inside the Lomo lenses are hand made (not in a good way) and don't always fit correctly. Don't get me wrong, they are great lenses. But they are very costly to maintain. I'll give you an example... I just serviced a Zeiss 35mm MkIII Super Speed and billed the customer for 4 hour. I also recently serviced a Lomo anamorphic that we billed the customer 8 hours. So... my point is, they are cheap to buy, but costly to maintain. And they do produce nice images ;)"

I am still using a Mac tower, had a look at the new imac specs and decided to wait and see what the new mac pros have to offer. The "trash cans" have been poor sellers so hopefully the new mac pros will be much better design.

TrueIndigo "I did lapse recently though, and got the G7 because there was a good deal going on it, presumably because it's now an outgoing model. At £380 for the body, I think it must be the cheapest new camera I've ever bought. After experimenting with various Mods to the Natural picture profile and Daylight white balance, I'm seeing an image not so different from the Nikons which I love. Way back I bought a GH1 when it first came out, so I still had a lot of MFT lens adapters and enjoy using my vintage Nikon AIS prime set. My main reason to buy it though (after a long time shooting video with DSLRs) was not so much about image, but a usability consideration: the opportunity to have a high res EVF for hand-held shooting (using a pistol grip to hold it to my eye). Feels like shooting Super 8 all over again, and I actually enjoy using this little camera. I think you can't underestimate how important the usability and pleasure of actually picking up a camera becomes, now that image quality is so good on almost everything. " Kubrick loved his Arriflex 35-2C because it was so portable.....the jolly thing weighs 7kgs(14lbs) with 200 feet of film !!! We take for granted camera and lens under one and a half kilos and small enough to be inconspicuous in public places

Nice one JCS !! The speaker's skin tones look quite natural on my monitor. Does "Boots" have any interest in sculpture ? only some dogs are creative and artistic.

PannySVHS Nikon color science and Zeiss goodness making the older Nikon D4 shine. Should be even better on the D750 regarding resolution and much better regarding quality of codec."At rainy day cafe Nikon D4" Blue sniff's out of focus backgrounds look pretty effortless with this camera and lenses. "By the way, not much cool video footage out there with the Angi-Tokina 28 70 2.6-2.8. That has to change, I bought one yesterday!" I have just bought one as well -testing it to see how much "Angi" genes it's inherited.

The guy that runs "Nikon Rumors" says this is a fake story.see https://nikonrumors.com/2017/06/06/about-that-fuji-helping-nikon-rumor.aspx/#more-112703 Some of Nikon's director's with old fashioned mind set should be replaced.Good quality third party lenses are also cutting in to their lens sales.Frank Glencairn retired his Nikkor 50mm f1.4 AI and now uses Samyangs ! https://frankglencairn.wordpress.com/2014/09/30/roaring-50s-50mm-samyang-zeiss-and-nikon-comparison/
