  1. Some pretty cool footage in there wolf33d ,looks like you haven't wasted 18 months. I hope your Phantom copter doesn't land on some dear old lady's head.
  2. Any chance you could try a AX 100 in your local camera shop ?? How much of your shooting is indoors.?? If you need wide angle, normal light indoors (no extra lighting),I think you will find the AX 100 inadequate. You could fit a 62mm x 0.65 Wide angle converter lens on it ,I used one on a Mini DV camera about 10 years ago and found they are not the real answer, reduced image quality, reduced light and distortion. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/473184-REG/Impact_DVP_WA65_62_DVP_WA65_62_62mm_Wide_Angle.html Have you considered the new Sony Alpha7S.?
  3. Cinematographer Daniel Landin described the One-Cam, saying that it is about the size of your every day matchbox, and able to fit 16mm lenses. They must have huge Matchboxes in Scotland ! normal size is only 50x35x15mm perhaps Daniel meant fag packet. Lucian "but the edit was like a bloated rough cut". Isn't it a wonder that the test screenings didn't highlight that things were sadly wonky.?? .It was at least 30 minutes too long. It really dipped into the realm of creative masturbating way too often and this is coming from a Tarkovski fan."Another reviewers comments

Gordan Laing did a comparison between the Samyang 85mm f1.4 and the Nikkor 85mm f1.4G on a full frame body.(Rokinon/Samyang Cine version has same optics) http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Samyang_Rokinon_85mm_f1-4_AE/ Considering the Nikon lens is $1500 and Samyang is only $280 it comes up pretty well.
  5. entirely shot with a Nikon D5300 + NIKKOR 35mm 1.8 most of the shots were handheld post: FCPX
  6. becam-Difficult having to film on such a bright sunny day,but your efforts have come off quite well.
  7. I had a look a your film making site today Matt www.creativcrit.com ,it's coming along well.
  8. This is not a camcorder forum but Canon to release new XF 205 which can record full HD uncompressed 10 bit/4:2:2 via SDI and an external recorder.Internal recording is 4:2:2 50Mbps MPEG-2. It has a 20X 26.8-576mm f1.8-2.8 lens with has optical stabilization. 4-channel audio recording; 2 XLR inputs http://www.hdwarrior.co.uk/2014/04/03/new-canon-xf205/ Your DSLRs are looking rather dated Canon.
  9. Looks like the Studio camera HD is using the pocket camera sensor both are 12.48x 7.02mm They seem to be using a New sensor for the Studio camera 4K 13.056x7.344mm Production camera 4K is 21.12mmx11.88mm Cinema camera 13 stops DR is 15.8mmx8.81mm In some ways these cameras are the Mk II version of the first generation better audio ,larger batteries more user friendly.I wouldn't be surprised if new form factor versions of their first three cameras aren't far away. Perhaps a 10" screen that can be put where ever you like and plugged in to the camera. Some of the rigs for Black magic cameras look like sprawling Meccano constructions anyway.
  10. There is also the Tokina 80-200 f2.8 can be found at low prices http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=tokina+80-200+nikon&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xtokina+80-200+f+2.8+nikon&_nkw=tokina+80-200+f+2.8+nikon&_sacat=0
  11. Footage does look rather promising Musty.Looks like the color saturation has been bumped up . Taxis through the tunnel are hooting.Rather puzzled what the three characters under the "Sex shop " sign at 4.00 mean. The right one looks like a wheel chair being rocket launched.
  12. The World According to Garp. I remember this as being a strange and wacky film but quite enjoyable all the same. Garp's Grandfather would not allow the use of the word "Sperm" in their home ! Matt-I've looked for it on DVD a few times over the years, but you can't get it on Region 2 afaik. Here in Ausi our Blu-Ray player is a Sony BDP-S370 it plays DVDs from any region,I feel your pain as many DVDs are only available as region 1 USA/Canada.
  13. bluefonia -"Many great films mentioned in this thread. What surprises me though is that nobody yet has mentioned Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon". A masterpiece in many ways, but may be most of all because it is shot exclusively by natural light. It¨s a long time since I saw that film, but I still clearly remember the scenes shot indoors at the castle, which is lit by only candlelights, - amazing." Barry Lyndon is my favourite Kubrick film, I found myself thinking a lot about the film the day after I saw it as it explores deeper themes. Most of the film is quite "painterly" even the out door scenes seem to have been meticulously planned. Here is a link to some of the films images - www.google.com.au/search?q=barry+lyndon+images&hl=en&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=nkMRU6juGI6LlAXWzoHwCw&ved=0CCYQsAQ&biw=2395&bih=1531

  15. I like the way the dust contributes to the mood of the clip. Is this likely to be manual focus ??? there are several parts were it drifts in and out of focus.
  16. Red Epic (M642) w/ Ti Canon Mount 16-35mm & 50mm L-Series Lens
  17. Some cool work with a D5300 here
  18. BobbyMurcerFan "If the 5300 actually removes FPN, it is a total winner and definitely worth the hassle and dealing with stupid UI elements like Baby Mode." The new Expeed 4 image/video processor arguably has more improvements for video than still images new 50p/60p video capture faster maximum video data rates removal of FPN Here is one of the first tests re FPN of 5200 vrs 5300 posted by Matt Posted 08 December 2013 - 10:36 PM StuS, on 08 Dec 2013 - 2:04 PM, said: Thanks. This guy knows what he's doing. I was already convinced but this confirms conclusively that the D5300 doesn't suffer the same FPN problems of the D5200. For me this is a clear reason to choose the 5300 over the 5200." I have seen NO sign of FPN on video taken with my D5300,the camera does take some getting used to for video but does take great footage. The reviewer seems to lack a grasp on how Nikon are rolling out Expeed 4 .
  19. Video Review: Blackmagic Production Camera 4K vs. $12,000 Canon 1DC First tests on vimeo.Low light performance rather dissappointing
  20. I had to laugh at the Cinema 5d review Danyyyel.A guy like Brandon Li accepts the quirks of using a 5200/5300 and is happy to shoot interviews with it.!! Brandon Li used it for the last several months to shoot interviews for the Yahoo! original web series “The Girl’s Gameâ€. He has also been testing it a bit for run-and-gun documentary-style shooting. Audio is Sony ICD-SX712u portable recorders and Azden lavalier mics. http://rungunshoot.com/nikon-d5200-studio-and-documentary-footage/

  22. Even Kubrick used slow zooms ,I remember "Barry Lyndon" has quite a few.The Pistol dual scene has one.
  23. Appleidiot the D5300 has a larger and higher quality screen than the 5200 ,here is Andrew's comments from 19 November 2013 - 02:20 AM "Just tried one, first impressions... Screen is very nice. Biggest on any camera and very good quality. There's a new manual focus assist - ultra detailed but slow frame rate." The D7100 is likely to be replaced by a new model with Expeed 4 so it's probably worth waiting to see what the new model is capable of shooting .
