HBO have their first production underway using the Blackmagic URSA 17K
Aussie Ash replied to Aussie Ash's topic in Cameras
In the interview he says they are not shooting in 17K ( at 3.4 mins) its about the sensor size and focal length and resulting look. -
Very refreshing to see a movie made in a way that abandoned established norms.Having learnt the hard way how difficult it is to use a 19mm for landscape stills I couldn't help but notice "many of the ultra wide shots in poor things have no foreground compared to a still shot in landscape photography". The lens seems to be used to help create a surrealist world. Yorgos film "The Favourite" is a damn good film as well.

Nikon vs Viltrox:The Lens War Officially started
Aussie Ash replied to Aussie Ash's topic in Cameras
September 2025- Viltrox joined the L mount consortium, essentially committing to pay Leica royalties. Nikon is absolutely right to expect the same for the Z mount. -
Tamron,Sigma and Voigtlander have licensing agreements with Nikon to sell Auto focus Z mount lenses. As I understand this seems to be a fee of roughly $100 per lens sold.Chinese lens manufacturers have been happy to ignore the legal implications.

Tilta's new auto focus adapter uses follow focus gears to manual lenses
Aussie Ash replied to Aussie Ash's topic in Cameras
Viltrox have started selling their adaptor according to their homepage. So the story goes that Sony gave them permission to have an adaptor use their autofocus connections.present adaptor is Sony to manual PL lenses.$599 for one motor or $899 for dual motors.Other brands of Lens adapters to come ?? -
why don't you just go for the Techart TZM-02 & it should take most of your vintage primes so long as they are under 500gms ??? yep I have looked at that -the focus speed is still relatively slow ,the outlay is Aus $500 and here is two guys the adapter failed within 12 months ! Due to the country it is made the chances of having them repaired is slimmer than a M42 to Z mount adapter.

Why Hollywood is Facing a Very Unhappy Ending -a 12min video by Bloomberg
Aussie Ash replied to Aussie Ash's topic in Cameras
Going to the movies has also had a massive decline ,I went to see F1 about a week after it opened and there was only seven people in the theatre !! Compare that to "Jaws" in 1975 and it was chock a block full and everyone reacted when the head fell out of the hole in the boat ! As i understand it Reading theatres own their Multiplexes so would be sitting on huge real estate gains but must be operating the theatres at a loss -

Aussie Ash replied to John Matthews's topic in Cameras
Their CEO said last year "I feel very ashamed" and that Panasonic plan to cut 10,000 jobs -
here is the link to Richard Haw adapting a Helios 44 to Nikon auto focus. This is the old AF-D screw mount that does not give auto focus on Z bodies the conversion would need to be on a newer AF-S lens or cheap Yongnuo 50mm for Nikon Z. https://richardhaw.com/2017/08/26/autofocus-helios-44-for-nikon-pt2/
