  1. I don't see how Nikon could afford to develop 4 new mirrorless cameras and keep up with updating the D5, D500, D7500. They are not a large company with deep pockets. Unless they are just going to throw in the towel on DSLR's? The reality is they can't afford "not to".It also probably means their new FX mirrorless lenses will be useable on DX with a few proper DX primes
  2. Thom Hogan says there are four new mirrorless cameras coming two FX and two DX.Why would they abandon DX when it represents 80% of their body sales . https://www.sansmirror.com/newsviews/and-we-got-both.html
  3. Ibis is one of the question marks,if they don't include it they aren't even matching Sony on a feature for feature basis.
  4. Screen looks huge could easily be 4"
  5. Nikon's first teaser video for FF Mirrorless is on their site https://events.imaging.nikon.com/live/en/ The glowing ring makes the mount look huge but if you look close it is smaller than the glowing ring

    50mm

Focus throw of the AI is 210 degrees compared to only 140 degrees for the 50mm f1.4 AI-S and AF and AF-D. Minolta's vintage F1.4s also have a vg reputation for video
  7. It is really about "mine is longer the yours".
  8. Andy Lee is supposed to be doing a short film using them, unfortunately he is not on these forums much these days. The guy at "Ironglass" could probably put you in contact with him.
  9. I know several retired chaps that have had enough of lugging around bulky Full frame Nikon and lenses and jumped ship to Fujifilm APS-C. Nikon and Canon both have small light DSLRs as well but seem to have treated APS-C as the ugly step sister undeserving of a proper lens lineup. Fujifilm have a huge headstart too-the fullest range of proper APS-C lenses -14 primes,10 zooms and two cine zooms. The X-T3 is supposed to be announced at photokina with new sensor and processor, Nikon will loose more of their existing customers if they continue to allocate minimal development to their DX systems .
  10. A very good article by Frank Glencairn on the new camera https://frankglencairn.wordpress.com/2018/04/19/why-the-new-pocket-cinema-camera-2-0-isnt-actually-a-successor-of-the-original-pocket-and-why-it-doesnt-mater/

Try this 139 year old lens up against your modern junk.
  13. Nikon need to get "new products"(whatever they may be)available before XMas to boost the current financial year. They have only released one body in the last twelve months the D850 is just too expensive for a lot of photographers. Based on figures from two or three years ago aprox 80% of their camera sales were APS-C,something that Canon doesn't over look with a full range of APS-C bodies down to the very cheap !.
  14. Thom Hogan has been saying two entry level mirrorless APS-C bodies in the US $500-$1000 bracket to be announced in the next few months followed by a full frame around US $2,000 four or five months later.D5600 is already due for update perhaps it is the last of the D5000 series ??
  15. There is also the complication of AF lenses (1986-98) have a screw drive which connects to the focus motor in the camera. Will they keep this system going for mirror less ???? The low end Nikon bodies D3000 and D5000 series have never had this screw drive thereby limiting autofocus to modern lenses with their own built in focus motor.
  16. The bearded Kiwi may find this one interesting for the soundtrack
  17. Ten new Nikon ambassadors for USA,six are women (a little different from Nikon Japan's effort a while back !!) Unfortunately only two filmmakers : Keith Ladzinski -"Strings Productions" have produced more than twenty films. Chris Hershmam filmmaker ,photographer and musician.
  18. Canon FD was introduced in March 1971 so FD lenses from the 1960s would be collectors items !!!
  19. Guys on the Pentax forums claim that Pentax used to use Samsung sensors https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/137-photographic-industry-professionals/270634-pentax-samsung-collaboration-what-happened.html

Richard is updating his lenses from the "Apogee " series.(Dog Schidt Optiks) We're currently working on our new CLAVIUS lenses (available March 2018) which is a significant upgrade to our previous APOGEE series. An outline of the changes is as follows:- Extra rugged construction Internal focus Reduced breathing, no extension during focusing, improved dust sealing, smoother focus action Geared aperture ring Relocated focus ring for extra camera body clearance Larger witness marks for easier focus pulling Same vintage optics http://www.richardgaleoptics.uk/clavius-lenses/apogee-lens-set-28mm-38mm-58mm-88mm

  22. "URSA super mini 4.6K" super 35 . A camera smaller , lighter and more affordable than their UM4.6k.
  23. Many you"tubers" have this problem, ten minutes of "talking head"to say something that could have been summirized in 60 seconds.
  24. Under 2 kgs is enough for me !! Even the camera Kubrick loved because it was so portable weighs around 7.7 kgs -17 pounds with 200 feet of film,an Arriflex 35 IIC.
