  1. Well..... it is already the 11th here!!! They're LATE But then again I do live in New Zealand ;-) Anybody heard news about the Arri 6K announcement? Apparently last month they showed it at a dealers only event in LA with no media allowed.
  2. Ebrahim Saadawi, remember also for most of us film guys we do not care about the "best" lens, but rather we want the best *SET* of lenses! So we want a cohesive matching collection of lenses from ultra wide to telephoto. So no point getting the greatest ever 85mm if its matching 24mm is a dog, or even worse.... doesn't exist!!
  3. ARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!! Hate how they'll block connect just because I'm in another country on "copyright grounds". What nonsense!!!

  6. Very impressed when I saw you took the F65 onto the subway! As I last night was filming with my Sony F3 downtown Auckland late at night. What chaos! So many drunks leaping in front of the camera and wanting to have their say or be silly.
  7. Why did you go with the Nikon 20-35mm f/2.8 over some other zoom such as Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 (I assume not this one because you're sticking with Nikon F mount, I do the same too), or Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8, or Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8, etc? WOW, are you shooting with 4 cameras simultaneously?? :-o As you mentioned you're doing a lot of night shooting, what made you not go instead with the "conventional logic" of using an A7s mk2 for the night shoots? Also you mentioned comparing the G7 files against RED and Alexa files, was a RED or Arri Alexa camera ever an option for your budget? Or were you just comparing for the sake of seeing how the G7 measures up? Did you consider a Sony F5 (or FS7)? As that is the camera I'd leap for if budget allowed and a lot of low light shooting is required (as I own a Sony F3 and am pleased indeed with how it performs in low light).
  8. SJCAM/Xiaomi/Elephone/EKEN/etc are killing GoPro on the low end, and on the high end BMPCC/BMMCC/X5R/etc are eating their lunch.

I'm pretty sure Panasonic and Sony does have this for their touch screens already. A "Pocket 2" already exists, it is the BMMCC (which sadly I think is *STILL* not shipping yet?? :-/). I don't expect there will be a Pocket v2.0 like other people think for a while yet, certainly not this NAB and neither do I expect it at the NAB afterwards. As the BMMCC is already filling that niche of an improved BMPCC. Touchscreen is very handy for manual focus lenses! You can use the tap to zoom feature, which gives you a zoomed in area for precise focus manually. (rather than zooming into the center, then having to button smash to move around the zoomed in box to be over the area you want to be in focus)

You can still zoom on the Sony by twisting the zoom ring. 24mm is still 24mm on APS-C. Still your Nikon lens on a DX camera and you'll get the same field of view as you would on an A6300. And yes use your Nikon first with a cheap but effective twenty buck adapter on a Sony before rushing out to buy Sony lenses

Get the Sony 18-105mm f4 lens. Quite incredible for what it is, nothing else quite like it in its niche!! If you want faster get the newly announced Sony 24-70mm f/2.8
  13. Get the Nikon D750 for photos (damn fine video too!) and keep the GH4 for filming with. D750 is clearly the current stand out DSLR!! Unless you need ultra high resolution then get D810 / 645Z / A7r mk2. Or ultra fast then D5 or D500. Get alongside it the 28-70mm f/2.8 + 80-200mm f/2.8 plus Nikon 85mm f/1.8D and you'll have a nice starting set up for portraits when it comes to camera body and lenses! (Cost effective too!) These lenses will also serve you well on whatever other new system you might use them on :-) Get a set of Yonguno TTL flashes as well with wireless triggers and diffusers. If you still have cash left in the kitty then make all of us super enviously jealous of you by buying the Nikon 200mm f2!! :-D Or if you can't stretch quite that far, get the Nikon 135mm f2 ;-) Either of them would be a BEAUTIFULLY GORGEOUS portrait lens to own! :-o
  14. Samsung was ahead of its time!! If only all this support structure was already in place then it would've been waaaay more successful

multi aspect sensor would be ideal! The 1.8x crop would be more or less close enough to Canon's 1.6x and same as Red Raven's! lol right you are, it BOGGLES the mind that they removed the touchscreen! ! hope so!! :-D

    Sony a6300 4k

120fps is only at FHD, if Panasonic had 4K 60fps that would be a *HUGE* leap over the competition!!! By far and by far. As Panasonic would be *FIRST* to give us affordable 4K slow motion :-D

Oh heeeeeeyyyy, another kiwi!! :-D :-D Where do you live? I'm in central (CENTRAL!) auckland. Feeling like I've been living in a sauna lately.

4K 60fps and/or 10bit internal, and that alone would "kill" the A6300 in the eyes of many people in favor of the GH5!! (of course there would still be many people who would hold out and prefer the A6300 of course, everything is all very subjective in the end as to which is more important than another factor or not) I somehow doubt the GH5 will however... but could be the GH6 would! A bit like the GH2 => GH3 => GH4 progression. I feel the GH2 to GH3 was more like a half step forward, but GH3 to GH4 was a GIANT LEAP! So GH4 => GH5 might just might be a consolidation and refinement stage, before they make another GIANT LEAP to the GH6? (organic sensor at last for the GH6?)

Full frame snobs and other photographers will still prefer the A7 mk2 over the A6300. You think the D750 will do better?

    Sony a6300 4k

Touch screen on the A5100 with face tracking is mean as! Why not?? I'd rather spend more on lenses than the body, as that is what will last longer.

    Sony a6300 4k

At loooooong last the very long awaited Sony A6300 has been announced (along with 3 sweet sweet lenses, that Sony E mount desperately needs). These specs in particular are juicy: new 24MP BSI sensor (yay, BSI!) 11fps 4D focus 4K 30fps video (no pixel binning 14 stops dynamic range, 100MPS) S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log-3 and S-Gamut3/S-Log3 profiles 1080p120 slow motion Under US$1k (I think this price is quite reasonable compared to what a GH4 or NX1 was when first released. Yes, I'd like it to be less! So I can wait, once a sale arrives or it shows up secondhand/refurbished that should shave off a few hundred dollars fo rme) Weather sealed body 422 over HDMI Switchable NTSC/PAL (phew!! Thank goodness for that) 14bit photos Mic jack input. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1222744-REG/sony_ilce6300_b_alpha_a63000_mirrorless_digital.html I no longer want a Sony A7s mk1 secondhand (which is a similar, or greater, price), I think I'll hold out on seeing this A6300 go on sale instead! :-D
  23. nah don't call it "pulling a Nikon" They simply were not ready to implement it back when they announced it. But longer length recordings will be coming from Nikon in a future firmware update
  24. People often go searching around for a "solution" to all their problems by buying another camera body. Often that isn't wise. Especially when they've already got a very solid camera body that is recent. And they're not doing this professionally. Stick with your NX1!!! Wait another generation or two before upgrading. Then get the NX3 or GH6 or whatever. Until then, if you must, get things which will last longer than a camera body for a few months. Such as a couple of redheads and an LED panel with V mount batteries. Or a Came-TV Mini 2. Or a small set of fast Rokinons in Nikon F mount. Any of these would last you longer, be more useful, won't depreciate as fast, and be cheaper than an A7s mk2!
