  1. C100mk2: 60fps FHD

C300mk1: SDI, genlock, timecode, better codec, cheaper (? arguably, or at least easier to find secondhand), and more.

    Seems like an easy choice!

But here is an even easier choice:

    C300mk1 vs Sony PMW-F3

    F3 all the way!

    Here is a trickier choice:

    Sony F3 vs Sony FS700

FS700 gains some notable advantages (super slow motion, and 4K external), but also has some disadvantages, plus is significantly more expensive (but still easily cheaper than a C300mk1!).

For the 4K raw obsessed, but who don't care about having a very "quirky" (read: flawed) camera: RED ONE MX or URSA Mini 4K, both similar (or maybe cheaper! If lucky) prices as a C300mk1

And I'll finish off this post with one last candidate, which is an oddball wild card suggestion: the JVC LS300! 4K internal, a tonne of fancy features such as streaming, a very versatile mirrorless mount, extremely affordable, but it is a JVC which no one knows.

Looking at the Amazon sales rankings, its low end DLSR's are still king. The Rebel T6 - not sure what its called in the rest of the world - is #1.

Only non-Canikon in the top 10 is: a Sony P&S (at #2) + a Kodak P&S + a knock off accessories kit for GoPro (ha, not even a camera! Seriously, it doesn't include the GoPro itself)

a6000 and a7Rmk3 are the only mirrorless in the top 20.

Wonder if this is ranked by volume of sales or value of sales? Guessing by volume.

    Hmmm... a5100 is #4! :-o  (& a6000 is #1)

    Impressive for such old cameras.

Darn pity they never updated the a5100! (I just wanted a mic input on mine.... )

Canon has 4 mirrorless in the top 20 (mirrorless + DSLR) while say Sony has 2. And it is very easy to see why. Canon sells an M10 with 2 lenses for as little as 50,000 yen while Sony's entry level offering - a6000 (a 4 year old camera) + 2 lenses is 50% more expensive at 75,000 yen. Hardly surprising then that Canon had a higher market share than Sony in mirrorless in 2017 in Japan. Canon simply offers a much better value offering (and value beats out bells and whistles every time.)

And its not just Sony - all the traditional mirrorless companies Fuji, Panasonic and Olympus - have been moving relentlessly upmarket over the past couple of years and that leaves the door open for Canon and Nikon.

I am something of a Sony fanboy but I find them hard to recommend to people because their kit (especially their lenses) are ridiculously expensive.

A better comparison for the Canon M10 would instead be the cheaper Sony a5100 (which like the a6000 is also a 4 year old camera :-/ ).

Knowing RED, that add on module is probably going to be twice or triple as much.

    Or even quadruple! ha
Knowing RED, the sky is the limit.

It seem this RED phone will be the real BMPCC spiritual successor

    Not on price.

Which was at  the core of the BMPCC's popularity.

nor would I be suprised to see the Panasonic CM2

This I would like to see.

Also I would like to just simply see a stand alone compact point and shoot with a 1" sensor and a prime lens like the CM1 is. Or like a RX100, but without the zoom, so it is even smaller, cheaper, and more robust.

    1. Probably means nothing and we are not getting anything.
    2. A software update that helps with compatibility with newer phones

In between those two you should have put:

1.5 We're getting yet another new smartphone with an "amazing" new teeny sensor in it! Oh wow!

Probably is the mostly likely option after "nothing" as to what Samsung means (if anything).

GH5 is not "marginally" better than the GH4. That is not even close.

    GH4 to GH5 was a bigger leap than the GH1 to GH2 or the GH2 to GH3

It is just too one off for them to plow that much R&D cost and production money into producing it.

Who is to say it is a one off?

The "DVX300" might have it, who knows if another stills camera might use it (such as the GH6S? Not unusual to reuse a sensor across generations), or maybe a MFT camcorder below the EVA1 but above the GH5S.

Lots of way they might be able to use the sensor again!

@IronFilm I’ve seen you kicking this one around for sometime... did you buy one? If not why? I suspect you are just like me... curious, but skeptical.

Not anywhere near as skeptical as you I'd say! ;-) And much more curious.

But with now my focus instead on sound for the last few years, I highly doubt I'll be making a big camera purchase any time soon.

Yeah if B&H doesn't handle something probably not a good thing to buy it.

B&H doesn't seem Zaxcom or Sonosax.... must not be any good?

    (1) Resolve Doesn't seem to have an option for using a 90fps timeline. Since I want the image to be as smooth as possible, and Oculus has a native 90fps frame rate, it seems like a huge oversight.  How can this be?

Maybe another NLE will allow you to use any frame rate at all that you enter

Also, bring this up on their own BMD product forums as they do monitor this. Might get lucky next firmware update

They ship worldwide! Free shipping too. I'm in the US, so I got it even cheaper than the listed price, since that already includes VIT for you European folks.

Oh hey they have a V mount version as well:

Pity the price pushes me just over the GST threshold for importing

Her older one by the other guy basically had only three shots in it:
    1) stairs (which I kinda liked the look of, but waaaay overused! As they did't have much else to do)
    2) outside by the car
    3) the black backdrop (the worst of the three)

Why would someone bother to use a $2,500.00 production camera to shoot women taking selfies with their GM5 in harsh afternoon light? What a farce!

    Because... why not?

Because it needed more cats in it?
