Any rumors or ideas on when the next version of the S5 might be released? 

I made a comment on the live chat on YouTube and directly under me is the man who started it all. The wizard behind the hacked GH2. Nick Driftwood! 🙂 

I have solely used GH cameras. GH2, GH3, GH4 and GH5. When I look at the GH6 I say to myself I have the GH5 and it still kicks ass. I only use manual lens and could care less about auto focus. Being that the GH5 holds down MFT for me and some thing like the Z-Cam M4 looks like next level MFT. I'm really thinking of jumping into a S5 or the next version of the SHII. Anyone else feel the same way? The size of the GH6 looks around the same size as full frame cameras. The idea of seeing my vast collection of adapted lens in their native FOV and having the low light capabilities are more appealing than GH6. Anyone else feel this way?

What did you pay for and never get in return? I have bought over a dozen clamps and jackets over the years and had never had any issues. 

I think you are mistaken. First of all his name is not Tony and he is no where near this age from my feeling. I do hope this Tony and others do pull through in this horrific time for all our loved ones. Redstan is the devil, he will never die.

If I was starting from scratch, I would go for a Sankor because they are cheap, all over the place and look really good. That with a ProtoDNA would be a nice combo I think. Bolex 8/19 would be nice to. If you are shooting s35 or Full Frame then unfortunately things get rare and expensive. The Vazen lens might be the best bet after DIY scopes. Or a SIRUI. Good luck!

I'm gonna give it to you straight. If this can't even focus to infinity then you are looking at a big gold CinemaScope paper weight. Even if you could the amount you would pay for the variable diopter would be worth much more then this lens. Also you will have not many choices as far as taking lens and forget going wide. I think a Sankor would be a better way to go and much easier on your back to bring around. If it can't go to infinity forget it. Cheers.

I came up with a solution for a 30mm FOV and love it but it's going to take some time and money for you to get all the pieces. It's MFT only and duel focus but I got it down based off of distances. Unfortunately there is no other way for DIY anamorphic to get this wide. LA700 would be the next best thing but you won't get this wide. 

I use a Voigtländer 40mm f2 instead of the Pen F 38mm and it looks even better then this video. 

Testing Bolex Anamorphot set with various taking lens and the GH5 5k. 8/19/1.5x Ultra Wide Angle setup + Voigtländer 40mm f2 or Olympus 38mm f1.8 (30mm FOV) + Raynox HD-6600PRO-49 Wide Angle Conversion Lens (0.66x) + 16x9 169-HDV75X-82 0.75 Wide Angle Converter Lens Bolex 16/32/1.5 "Unicorn" + Pentax 40mm f2.8 DA (80mm FOV) Bolex 16/32/1.5 + Voigtländer 40mm f2 (80mm FOV) 8/19/1.5x + Jupiter 11a 135mm (270mm FOV)

I mix the 8/19/1.5x and the Bolex 16/32 footage together. Adding to the lexicon of footage out there.

Need some taking lenses that match baby anamorphics better...best I have are FD 50mm 1.8, and olympus 45mm 1.8 (M4/3).

The Olympus 45mm f1.8 sounds nice. The Olympus Pen F 38mm f1.8 is a personal favorite of mine. Cheap, sharp and full of character. Other wise I use machine vision c-mount lens.

Nice lens but I must say that shots have been fired 😉 I own the Baby Hypergonar and did own the Kowa 8 2x before I sold it. I would slow down with the Baby Hypergonar bashing. First of all, my copy and another friend who has the same lens both confirm that we could not reach infinity with the Kowa 8 2x. It is a lovely lens and you have produced some really nice images but nobody puts my Baby Hypergonar in the corner 😉

I have been experimenting for years with aspheric lens and other wide-angle attachments to get a wider FOV for my anamorphic lens and never had very good results. I'm happy to announce that if you are a proud owner of a Bolex 8/19/1.5x, this might be a solution you will like. I shot these yesterday. By my estimate it's a 15mm on MFT or 30mm FOV full frame. The pros are no diopters are needed and you can focus as close as 10 inches. The downside is duel focus which is very easy with this set up for me. I did have chromatic aberrations but that could have been polarizer. I need to check. It's a great solution for wide establishing shots, car shots or getting wide close ups. Only works with Bolex 8/19 an MFT users. 📷🙂

Currently getting the ball rolling on my 16mm camera with the Aivascope which is also one of the best pieces of glass I’ve found, except for the fact that it it is a “baby” type scope so it may limit taking lens choices. It seems to support the same FOV taking lens as a 16-H, possibly even a touch wider. Both can truly cover a standard set of primes on any format, which is rare on the wide end for high squeeze factor adapter anamorphics. 

I’m close I think to having my 16mm camera adapted to take Micro 4/3 glass, and my calculations tell me I should be able to use both the Aivascope and the 16-H on that format with the Voightlander set from 17.5-42.5mm (so excluding the 10.5mm.) The center image on those lenses is excellent, even wide open, so on 16mm they will look fantastic. But the large front elements might not play so well with the baby scope.

I will! I use the 25mm 0.95 Voightlander without the HCDA with Kowa Inflight and the 17.5mm with GH5. I love the look of those as well. The Aivascope and 16-H are both great pieces of glass. This entire video was shot with Kowa Inflight and 25mm f0.95 Voightlander.

I had 3 and sold one recently for 2k. It's an amazing piece of glass. I got the HCDNA machined to fit the Inflight. The one on the top in picture. Redstan makes a great clamp for it.  I shot this with the GH4 a few years back. The Inflight really transforms to the taking lens you use.

Hey Justin, I have a few of those Rapido clamps laying around. I love to try the same thing with Bolex 8/19. How did you hold Yashica in place and have hood cover? What are your rings? Thats a Nikon spacer? 

Baby Hypergonar 1.75x in Redstan jacket + MeVis 35mm + Proto DNA. I also do this combo with the 38mm f1.8 Pen F and it's super tight.

GH5+ Bolex 16/32/1.5x + Voigtländer 40mm f2 + ProtoDNA. Run and gun. Shot 90% wide open at f2 and 10% at f2.8.

Thanks. It seems like the right way to go. The TZ CAM E2G is nice and has a global shutter. I'm really excited about the next version of the ZcamE2 that has a global shutter. I will make the jump! Cheers.

Thanks Chris, I have been rocking the GH2, GH3, GH4 and now the GH5. It is the end of the line for me with the GH line. I really learned allot and I have lots of footage I love. There are a few exciting camera's out and coming out. GH5 with the 10 bit was a big plus over 8 bit. I want something with great color science like the Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 but also with a small form factor. The Z CAM E-2 4K looks nice. For me the dream specs would good color science, 10 bit, 120 fps 4k, small form factor, global shutter, Pro Res Raw or HQ with MFT mount. I have invested and built up a collection of vintage glass in MFT so I'm rocking this formate for a while. With all that said, I still think my best footage came off my hacked GH2

My best footage I filmed in North Carolina from 2015-2019.

I shot on a GH4 and the GH5 in 4k with the scenery setting. I filmed 1.75x in 16:9 and 4:3 and 1.5x in 16:9

Anamorphic Lens used :
1. Baby Hypergonar 1.75x
2. Bolex 8/19 1.5x anamorphot
3. Bolex 16/32 1.5x anamorphot

Taking lens:
Voigtlander 40mm f2, Schneider-Kreuznach 50mm f/1.9 Xenon, Olympus Zuiko Pen 38mm f/1.8, Schneider Xenoplan 28mm f2, and a MeVis 35mm f1.6

Variable diopters used:
1. Rectilux 3FF-S
2. Proto DNA
3. Focuser 8

I also used a Tokina +0.4 Achromatic, Fujinon +0.7 and a Narumi +3 diopter for close up shots.
