Isn't the point of having a FF sensor not having to deal with all the compromises that speedboosters bring to the table? It makes a bit of sense with Canon's crop, but for Nikon? Or are you guys itching to slap some slow medium format glass on it?

Well there is a shit load of pretty awesome and cheap Nikon glass around, if you don't want the cream of the crop. Holy trinity three generations ago, should work you can get them for 500 each ish. Then the latest afs 1.8 series 20, 24, 28, 35can be had for roughly 500 each, not bargaining here for +-100 bucks here. Afs 50 1.8 can be had for under 200,  85 maybe 300. Let's suggest we can pull you over to the dark side here. You would be pretty well setup with a grand worth of used glass ?

For me it is a simple equation..  if you want IBIS for use with MF / vintage / cine primes then this is the camera.
I think that "50 reasons" video is quite compelling..  partly because it wasn't 7 reasons, and because the reasons were "it has feature X and P4K doesn't", not the usual "feature X is 7% better" that these videos are normally full of.
The fact that "It's also a stills camera" was only one of the reasons was quite telling I think!!

John Brawley has a Job, just like a 1000 other shooters that do what he does. Sure he knows his stuff. I would hope so, it's his job. He seems like a damn nice, smart guy. Sareesh is a damn smart guy also, really smart guy. Who is right I don't know. But not everyone on here is some dumb ass like you think they are. But if it is true stay here, you will fit right in. Always room for more dumb asses. Hell you might rise to the head dumb ass. You got my vote already.
I have heard the the XLR adapter is on a slow boat from China. I hope you don't need it tomorrow.

Wow nice stuff. Sony just does so well in dark situations with DR and noise. For the money a no brainer. Yeah still no Canon color science, but a big gain from my A7s! Although I really do like the Grungy look from the original.
Although this is one of my favorite videos using the original A7s. Shot at 60fps, pretty much OOC. I don't see why a person can't make something pretty great with one. They are close now to 700 bucks for a FF camera. Damn good machine for the money.

I would venture to say Sareesh probably has a better Grasp of what video is all about more than Anyone on here, and probably the vast majority of people in the world. Is he always right, nobody is, but I will take his opinions as real truth.
And who has a camera longer than 2 weeks that reviews anything other than their own personal camera? That is 336 hours. Surely a person can figure out a most things in that amount of time. It's not like the first camera that BMD has ever made. It's not like the sensor is new either. It's pretty much a dumbed down GH5s with ProRes and their UI and color science. Not that that is a bad thing. Especially for the money.
I think I would rather have a GH5s and the new Atomos Ninja V. But that is more money obliviously. Add a Gimbal , a Speedbooster and not a lot you Can't do with it.

This camera, the Z7 also cost $3,396.95. More than Twice the price of a Fuji X-T3. More than Half again as much as a Sony A7 mk III. Out of the reach of a heck of a lot of people.
But I do realize it is their top end Mirrorless unlike the Canon EOS R is. Yes the Sony A7r MK III is up there also, as I am sure the new A7s mk III will be also. Then there is the Sony A9, Gulp! But way cheaper than a true Cine camera, and if you are making a living with it, it is peanuts with the write offs you get.

    Haha,
The Nucleus-M certainly has accurate repeatable focus. Can't see why the Nano wouldn't as well.
In any case, for most single operators with a gimbal though, there is no real need for it to be perfectly repeatable as most single operators wouldn't lay down camera or actor marks to hit every take or even mark up the focus wheel disc. It's just a good way of being able to pull focus from one thing to another or just choose what you want in focus. Until Autofocus lenses can read your mind, they will never be as good as a solution like the Tilta ...other brands are available ?

Really other than the new PK4, none of the new FF cameras, and the Fuji have added Anything to talk about over what a GH5 has had 2 years ago. And most of them have a Hell of a lot less features. And now you can buy a used GH5 cheaper than any of the new cameras, even the PF4. Interesting. We really haven't gained crap other than some pretty nice options on the PK4, Raw in particular, the the C port, and the mini XLR is nice also. Oh and the menus are damn nice also on the screen.
Other than the Fuji X-T3 for photos I don't see hardly Any edge for film making on the Canon, or Nikon, Fuji offerings over the GH5, GH5s.

Yes he makes a very lot of good points in that video. We sort of take it for granted.  But the GH5, GH5s are one hell of a good film making tool for the money.

..yet in Jordans video segment, a lot of the footage is labelled "EOS R 1080/24P with electronic stabilization".
imo @Jordan Drake should have used full frame lenses such as the RF 24-105mm or EF 16-35mm L for those FHD shots with EIS.

Just watched the Dpreview video from Chris and Jordan. Its funny to see them squirm and try to find anything positive to say about the R since they're in Hawaii on Canon's dime. Underwhelming doesn't even begin to describe the R, especially since Canon had two years after the 5d4 to improve its sensor and 5 years of watching Sony to figure out FF mirrorless. Even the standout feature - DPAF - looks straight up awful. But the AF is not so bad compared to the video, which is an embarrassment - especially compared to the a73.
    Fail.

I wouldnt be that optimistic about F mount lens via the FTZ adapter because the lens dont have the built in stepper motors needed for cdaf.
    To quote Thom Hogan.
In the continuous autofocus modes the Z7 isn’t a D850. Or even a D7500. This is particularly true with lenses on the FTZ adapter, which forces the camera to always use phase detect. In my initial opinion, the Z7 is substantively behind where the Sony A7Rm3 is for continuous autofocus sequences of objects moving towards you (even at a diagonal).
My guess is that F mount users will have to eventually switch over to S lenses if they want to take advantage of the Z mounts dual cdaf/pdaf focusing system for 'fast' and 'accurate' focusing.

jonpais reacted to Mark Romero 2 in GH5S or X-T3?
I think what @DBounce mentioned about colors can be important. While the GH5S colors look nice to me (I do, after all, shoot with Sony cameras), it might be good to plan around how much time you will have for coloring / grading.
Neither camera has IBIS. Is that going to be an issue? If I had to go by "gut feeling" alone, then MAYBE the tilty screen of the X-T3 would be easier to use than the flip-out screen of the GH5 when using on a gimbal??? If you are using a small "single hand" gimbal (Crane or something similar), will the motors block the flip out screen???
You can hear some of Jordan Drake's thought on the X-T3 here:
    https://youtu.be/6situ5QPf6s?t=579
It seems the AF tracking in video is not on par with the Canon (and I would assume Sony as well... not that canon or sony cameras are in the running in your decision at all, just that maybe that is one slightly less advantage in terms of the X-T3).
Will you be using lighting??? If not, does 10-bit 4:2:2 hold up any better to color correcting mixed lighting than 10-bit 4:2:0 (I think Jordan says the Fuji is 10-bit 4:2:0 when recorded internally).
Do you not want a B cam??? Since you mentioned you own a GH5 already, then having a GH5S as an A cam and your GH5 as a B cam makes a lot of sense.
What is the lens budget looking like? The only people I know who say "Fuji lenses are inexpensive" are people who used to shoot Sony...
