sanveer reacted to BTM_Pix in My Prototype Electronic Variable ND Filter
I very much doubt that !
I bet you Einstein hasn't just forced an EOS to F mount adapter on to one of his favourite lenses so badly that he had to spend 2 hours cutting it off !
Would Albert have used an EOS to F adapter though?
Probably more an E to MC kind of a guy.

Holy Mother of God. You're like the Einstein of the Group. If you make this cheap (with an inbuilt battery an bluetooth controller), this could sell in the million. Lemme PM you.

What's interesting is Kinefinity fixed a lot of issues that RED has with their cameras. From the beginning they always designed a shallow sensor so that you can mount many different lens options. On top of that, their sensors can be speedboosted easily.
I'm 100% for a collaboration with Olympus to build a model with IBIS and Autofocus. They are ahead of the game in those areas for micro 4/3.
If blackmagic built a camera with a sony sensor (like mavo 6k, DJI, etc.), shrunk the size down, kept the same color science, and added autofocus, it would be a slam dunk against cameras like the c200 because of no market segmentation and professional features like prores. I mention a sony sensor because it will have higher iso performance and lesser cooling requirements, leading to a smaller camera.
Blackmagic is the only brand building cameras without market segmentation and including every feature they can. If they just add a few things to their cameras and shrink the size a bit, they can cause a huge shift in the industry as a lot of other camera manufacturers will lose sales.

No. The sensors in red cameras are sunk too far into the bodies for certain mounts (e-mount being one of them.) And because of the distance the sensor is from the body opening, it's very hard to build a speedbooster. The currently developed abt speedbooster for the RED cameras is ridiculously expensive because every speedbooster is built by hand from one of red's mounts (which are already expensive.) And on top of that, the ABT speedbooster is not a huge sensor size increase like Metabones is, it's much smaller. Imagine a speedbooster on the Raven, which is basically a micro 4/3 EF mount camera. Not possible.
RED has promised to stick with the DSMC2 body design for another few years so that will also limit what they can do with their cameras.

sanveer reacted to BTM_Pix in Sony A7S Mark 3 - What to expect
Its almost like the terrible menu system has become part of their brand DNA though isn't it?
One of the most elegant menu systems around is from the Leica T and I've grafted it on to this picture of an A7Riii to show how much more simple Sony could make it if they followed that lead.
The cameras prior to the A7xIII series that could be hacked through PlayMemories could have custom Android applications put on to them. I know there are a few kicking around that people created to do time lapse and I think a focus stack one but it would be great if it were possible for someone to do a re-skin of the UI to make it look like the Leica T.
Because I think Sony are just going to keep coming up with the same interface but even clunkier as they ram more features in.

Very unlikely. The whole selling point of the A7S line was video, and having less MP meant larger photo sites and thus better low light performance. If they increased the MP count then they'd either just crop into the sensor (18MP is about 5K for video) or they'd have to downscale, which would add more processor requirement and more heat, which is the LAST thing that camera needs!
If they did do that and implemented a thermal solution then they'd have taken a step to turning it into a cinema camera as no doubt they'd use the processors from their cinema line.
I suppose they could just output 5K video, leaving people to deal with it in post, but that is so far away from the way the industry works I cannot even imagine it (although it would be a selling point for some, it would blow up YT with other people whose tiny little minds had been shattered!)

sanveer got a reaction from JordanWright in Who would pay twice the price if the new BM Pocket 4K had Canon DPAF?
I completely agree with this. Twice the price for great autofocus is a ripoff. $99-199 is the max that one could charge for that feature.
Double the Price should include IBIS, Dual UHS-II cards, Weather-sealing and Double/ Triple the Battery life.

sanveer reacted to no_connection in Geoff Boyle: "F**k The Numbers"
Since when have bayer sensors been a problem? I have taken lots of pictures with my Nikon D80 that I have come back to and went wow, that looks amazing, and back then I didn't shoot raw cause I only had 2GB SD card.
He goes on that numbers don't mean anything and yet he completely dissed anything "modern" with high "pixel count" as being not good enough? a step backward?
I thought he meant to make a point that content was the important part but it was kinda lost when he pretty much went to spec war film vs modern, which on paper had the better spec(k). (pun intended) Oh and you also need to shoot on Cooke. Not cookie or cake.

Thanks @Emanuel
I am actually looking forward to a 3-way review face-off between these drones. They all are within the 1k price bracket, with 4k video and a few othwr tricks up their sleeve. Dynamic Range and video quality, ease of flight, flight time etc will be the governing factors I guess.
Suddenly 25th June seems too far way.

Seems nobody did care... here goes some unofficial though -- promising to say the least (Part II):
Add a glass filter in front of it and here you have -- IQ resolution looks like pretty decent as usual in general for these aerial 4K capture devices of nowadays:
And here's finally a grab from my desktop now -- control the highlights and you'll find your HDR aerials outcome well under $1000, for 2/3rds of the price actually:
Not the best but the only one to offer this without going to post:
What about official footage? Here: https://www.youtube.com/user/parrot/videos

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I too think this footage is premature in a very very unfortunate way. Creating any kind of log profile or decent video codec on a camera cannot possibly be that difficult.
Also, if ZCam wants to start improving the official footage slowly and show the improvements to people ovwr weeks or months, they may have understood the mindset of prospective customers all wrong. If people start seeing great footage from the 20th or 30th video, most perspective buyers would already have migrated to things. I doubt anyone has the patience to see the magic happening. They should not give us Alpha and Beta. Just come final product in terms of video quality.

I couldn't agree more. These are the very first samples from the camera. They seem to have neither log nor any flat profile, and the fact that the CEO is playing with the football in the video (which incidentally nobody else seemed to notice) seems to indicate how casual and informal (non final) the nature of this video is.
I am not completely sure about these figures. What are the flavours of RAW that you are referring to? Blackmagic itself has 3 flavours on the BMPCC4k. So it basically would depend on the kind of flavour of RAW.

Looking back I owe everyone a big thank-you for using the forum and taking an interest in the blog, it is amazing what it has turned into with so little effort on my part I think this place must be the only website on the entire internet without adverts. Long may it continue like that.
Got a GX9 arriving tomorrow... about time I did a review of something cheap with the big shift to high-end stuff. Let me know what you'd like to see in the review of it.

sanveer got a reaction from IronFilm in What we want in the ZCam E2
I read a lot of reviews of the Z Cam E1, and many users were more than satisfied after the various firmware updates and after the price cut. But, considering it was a product by a small little startup, they seemed to have resolved a lot of the issues users had when the product was released.
I too feel the Z Cam Z2 could have included a screen and some (more) ports and a SD Card slot. Also, ProRes and RAW. But it does include H264 and H265, and if Sony and Panasonic's implementation of codecs is any indication, than one won't really be missing ProRes (though we could do with RAW).
It also seems to have wifi, and I am guessing if it has an App that's even close to @BTM_Pix quality of implementation, it could be a runaway success. Or better still, @BTM_Pix makes a controller for the ZCam E2. That would be a great collaboration.

I'm presuming it will be the same protocol as the Z-Cam so it is actually pretty comprehensive in terms of what can be controlled.
Its implemented in much the same way as the Sony so porting to my current controller would be a quick job.
I'd need a donor camera though to test it and it will be behind Sony and BM in the queue for the port but as I say it wouldn't take long to do.

Most of us on these forums and almost all Indie Filmmakers (especially those who buy their own gear) are forever asking for features a camera should have or not have.
The ZCam E2, already seems to have a few very impressive list of features (4k @120fps and 13.5 stops of Dynamic Range).
What features do you feel it really needs to be able to sell in the truckloads?
I didn't really like the live streaming Ethernet port thing, which except the high speed advantage doesn't seem to offer anything. Also, by the time things are uploaded on YouTube, are already down to way less size than they were shot or edited on. Also, IMHO very high bitrate live streaming may not be a great idea.
1. IMHO since they probably cannot fit in another Card Slot (for SDXC or other cards, apart from the CFast one it already has) maybe a dual usb-c may be a better idea instead of one Ethernet and one USB-C.
2. Perhaps either one or 2 mini XLR ports for sound.
3. A few flavours of Cinema DNG RAW.
Finally, I feel the price seems a little off. If it were priced at $1495, it may seem a lot more attractive.
I am creating a new thread for this, because I feel the ZCam guys are open to listening and want feedback on features filmmakers want on their camera.
