On the format topic, all I really wish for is 10-bit 4:2:2. Internal raw is overkill for my needs. If I'm shooting raw I'm going to be on a set and need monitor anyway, far cheaper to record to SSD in that situation than XQD

I would pay $5k for the monitor if it was one of a kind display, but I'm pretty sure Korean and Taiwanese display makers will introduce a comparable or very close to be comparable one with 1/4 of the price in next 6 months.

This market is so much smaller than what it was that it doesn't matter who is number 1 or 2 or 3 in sales anymore. 

We're not watching a documentary. A movie about war in the dark, shouldn't be as dark as a real war in the dark.

If they are OLED, their max brightness is very low (how many of total mobile viewers have Samsung flagships?), and if they are LCD, glowing blacks make the whole thing horribly flat at max brightness. And then we have compression issues. In dragon fighting scene, it was like watching a 9gag clip in its gif days! 

And we're supposed to "see" the damn signature.

I love how he claims it's the iPads and everything else fault. 
So, if you can't watch it on an iPad, with factory calibrated screen, covering DCI P3, working with variable frame rate to match the content, offering over 500 nit brightness and extremely good contrast what should we get? 4000$ HDR Oled Screens? 

In the end it was just too dark and HBO made it even worse with their crappy compression. Get your content delivery sorted and then start blaming customers!

I could never understand trying to rig those small DSLR/Mirrorless into a shoulder rig -type configurations. With new products from Tilta, etc. now things can remain small, and yet have everything included. With different style handheld, that is :).

No, it is not. At least not in my  world. 

Perhaps it is as a "game changer" for a certain market niche of people who are somewhat clueless at audio but are doing it themselves the entire workflow from start to finish. 

But in my line of work I'd be moving backwards from my very excellent Zoom F8n, and what would I get in return? Next to nothing. I'd "gain" a nonstandard file format which "solves" a problem I don't have. (I could easily come up with half a dozen things I'd rather see instead from Zoom first)
 

At 32 bits, then even if you didn't have a limit with a microphone, you'd find life itself would be a limit to what you record with all 32 bits. To record from one extreme to the next at once would destroy you.

It is like if you recorded a gazillion stops of dynamic range of light with your camera, it would be both so hot and so cold that you'd be DEAD. 

Hmm lol. Your turn is coming. First thing is you Have to live that long. Not as easy as it seems. Eh maybe by then they will have a cure for just about everything and they will just have to start beating people to death.

This business is unsustainable because of ridiculously high production costs, it doesn't matter which one of big names is supporting the ecosystem. 

I don't need RAW, but I like to see Nikon in full attack mode. I like to see what they gonna do in second generation of Z.
