You are a brave man shooting 2x anamorphic hand held.... ;-)
Very nice framing, and I like the choice of color grading. I've only had the experience of one clip hand-held with the SLR Magic 2x adapter but on a GH4. It did show it's possible but not something I'd undertake for a lot of footage. I was surprised at how much distortion (curvature) there was in your footage, since my experience with a 50mm taking lens and other footage I have seen shows very little. Again, I was shooting on a GH4 where there is a crop factor, so perhaps that helped mitigate the distortion if it was there. Shooting with the combination on the GH5 is on the project list.
The one thing I find is of the utmost importance when shooting anamorphic, is keeping the horizontal plane of the camera as steady as possible. As you mention, minor motion on that axis leads to issues. It is a little less critical with 1.33x lenses, but still necessary.
    Thanks for sharing.

The only one I’d recommend outside of lenses is the SmallHD 501/502. If you mount it on the hotshoe with the SmallHD pan/tilt mount it ups your game. Its so light you won’t even feel it.

These are a couple that I've done with it in the 21:9 ratio in both orientations.

Just shot an ad for a bank using the GH5 and SLR 2x anamorphic 50mm prime. This is pretty much my go-to combo right now outside of the Ursa + Sigma Cines.

I love this camera. I even sold my X-T2 to buy it.
And honestly, I much prefer using it for video over the X-T2 (mostly because of no need to switch drive mode).
And that was despite not having a tilt screen or 4K.

Well, soon it will be one less drawback.

    To bad Ive sold it

    PS.
Speaking of Fuji listening to polls on rumor sites,
"..In fact, it was your feedback and negative poll results, that killed the monochrome X-Pro1.."

What a big f...ng shame. I would have soooo bought that.
I loved my Leica M Monochrome but couldn't justify it when I also shoot film.
Something more fuji priced would have been sweet.

If you're in a green screen studio, it's perfectly fine. On green screen shoots whatever isn't the person you're filming is cut out anyway, so as long as you put the footage in a 16x9 sequence not a 9x16 you're golden. Only you will know how it was filmed vertical. I'd say go for it, you'll have more flexibility in post too

I inverted the shutter and aperture dials setting, so that at worst I accidentally change only the aperture (front dial is more unlikely to move unintentionally, at least for me). And since I shoot with a speedboosted sigma 30mm 90% of the time, the back wheel is basically deactivated.

It's getting a ton of coverage this week. That alone is enough traffic to drive sales. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but if we are to believe what they said on RED's forum - that they can't keep up with manufacturing, I just wonder why they'd expand and create longer backorder times. Unless Apple is helping with manufacturing.

Little more to it, go to the Raven page and click 'Shop now', you're taken to the Apple Store listing. First I thought it was for Apple to plug and bundle their own Final Cut Pro X software, but again, seems like there's a little more to it. Maybe it was Apple who knew how to quickly create more production capacity for high demand products and lend 'em a hand, in return letting them be the front for sales.

I'm fairly sure that they're literally the same lens with a different name on. The sample variation due to lens history - bumps etc - is going to drown out any reasonable performance distances. The HFT and T* coating are impossible to tell apart - and often the Rollei branded versions were produced at Zeiss with Zeiss's coating -

Foot zooming doesn't work. Trust me; I'm a stills shooter. If you move forwards to make Mr Stallone occupy as much foreground with your 50mm as  he would have done with a 100mm, he now has a different relationship to the background. Read eg

FLs are a fundamental stylising choice for this reason. Eg Daido Moriyama is a 28mm shooter and Bresson a 50mm; DM is punk rock and HCB is a chamber quartet. If I need to balance a camera out with a heavy lens, then it won't be the first time. But focal length is fundamental.

Any movement on wide anamorphics of the camera, have always been problematic anyway...your results are actually remarkably good, considering you're shooting handheld on a 2x...both the SLRMagic and the GH5 are very impressive in your footage!.. locked off...as is really the most practical way to use a 2x this would be a killer combo!!

Hi Aaron, the 50mm exhibits quite a lot of distortions as well, and it is more noticiable as the main actor is the city and its buildings. The stablilization in camera doesn´t play well with anamorphics together and doesn't help. But I like a lot your skills (all the other related things were the tools), the colour you've done and the shoots in general, the composition, your eye.
