  1. Since your background is (basically) visual storytelling, how about marketing? (or social media marketing or buzzword-du-jour marketing???) The other questions is, what does your heart WANT to do?

  2. Well it took nearly a month to arrive, so I haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet. On first impressions it's very bright and not to noisy. Metal shell, which is good. Surprisingly light weight. I'll be giving it some more extensive testing in around 10 days time so I'll report back, but I'm already considering getting a second, while they're so cheap! I see that they also do a very affordable light mat.

  3. Cool film, only let down by the poor codec and lack of ND. I understand why you'd want to have a sponsor and why you'd want to tell a story with a phone in comparison to not telling it at all, but if you had freedom to choose and you were already getting a bunch of people on set and putting all that time and effort into something and then a phone sure isn't my first choice. Same comments as above, but you can definitely see the stronger codec in this piece compared to the Xaiomi.

  4. And someone sent me a seller offer on EB today for a Jinbei 200W daylight COB for £80. Would have been churlish to refuse. I'm a little intrigued, as I have a feeling they are made by the same outfit. We will see! (Did I mention that I have something of a cheap light fetish?)

  5. I actually just learned that the Sony Tough V90 64mb 300mb/s (read) 299mb/s (write) card works in the OG BMPCC and BMPCC and I happen to have one here so I popped it in and guess what, it works! I haven't tested it at all framerates in the BMMCC, which would take a while as dropped frames often don't happen right away so you need to record at least 10-15 minutes at each framerate in CDNG (and CDNG 3:1 at 60fps) to be sure. But it should work for all framerates on the OG BMPCC. These cards are readily available and not as expensive as the Angelbirds. I have two of the 128 GB Angelbirds and those are fantastic but expensive. The Kingston Canvas Selects that I bought died after a few months so I'd be wary of that solution, although some people are happy with them.

  6. We did collaborate on some films, and submitted a few of them into the festival circuit, which is quite active here in Australia. That was mostly an exercise in frustration as it was all a game of who-do-you-know instead of the merits of the actual film, but it gave her experience in directing and, because of the performances she was able to get, contributed to many actors showreels. It was amazing the trouble we went to considering the camera of the day was the mighty PD150!

  7. Wait! Not listed as one of the Netflix authorized (Approved... no less, insane!) cameras?? Really? No way! Who wants such crap of device? *cough cough* Who will buy to exhibit it anyway? LMAO hehe Sorry guys, couldn't resist! Marty is one of those who will fully understand me! Fortunately, not the only one! ;- )

  8. Exactly! It's just lazy. I guess it's better to have a lens than to not have a lens, but this lens doesn't inspire, regardless the results. The L-mount version of the lens is $1500 and the difference between a high MP L-mount camera and the OM-1 will be insignificant mounted with that lens... probably better with the L-mount anything.

  9. Short film directed and written by Jessica Yu-Li Henwick who has starred in various big budget productions for cinema and tv, such as "Game of Thrones" or "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery". She is also acting in the leading role. The film was shot pretty barebones on a Xiaomi 11 with a gimbal being put to use. Here is a very cool interview, talking about finding the right DP, why she shot on a phone and requirements to film without extra lenses or big accessories. Also about scheduling and preparing the shoot while being on set starring in "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" and where she drew inspiration from for her film. Great interview and insight about the filmmaker, her film and her process. I really enjoyed film, cinematography and image quality as well. The other film above my post looks equally appealing to me btw. So here are the article and interview with Jessica Yu-Li Henwick: https://directorsnotes.com/2023/02/11/jessica-yu-li-henwick-bus-girl/

  10. Just in terms of TC. About other differences I have been writing in this thread pretty extensively myself. 😂 F.i. did you know the S1H has a true S35 mode besides the Apsc one, whereas the S1 has only the latter? 🙂
