  1. They both support timecode via the flash sync port, just like the GH5S and GH6 does.

    24p is outdated

We've been pretty euphemistic in our reaction towards the quality of a lot of 60p posts. Some were insulting a master of cinematography or referring to people in underwear. This thread is a showcase of pampering gone wrong and learning and insights gone lost. @zlfan

Putting taste aside, I just don't understand why you would shoot this way? Unless you are a true run and gun, video shooter, shooting auto because you're trying to get as many shots as possible in a short amount of time or you need to fudge your shutter speed to get a little extra light... exposure. Cinematography is difficult enough, so why muck around with tried and true conventions when you can spend that time with lighting or sound or art/set design? Maybe the OP just wants to "discuss" theory and that's fine, but the argumentative nature suggests otherwise.

You’re making claims that have actually already been tried. Which if you had a clue you would already know. Youre not the first genius to think of this. Peter Jackson made a HFR film with a 270 degree shutter at 48fps for exactly the flawed logic you presented. In his own words… “Changing the shutter angle affects the amount of motion blur captured during movement. Reducing the shutter angle gives you the stroby (or jerky) “Saving Private Ryan” look. However, we’re going the other way, shooting at 48 fps with a 270 degree shutter angle. This gives the 48 fps a lovely silky look, and creates a very pleasing look at 24 fps as well. “ Except it didn’t work and was universally hated in its HFR versions. Oh and because you won’t know how to do the maths, that means a 1/64th of a second shutter speed. Its not about motion blur. It still tanked. Next!

  5. It's easy to tell... When you look in the mirror do you see a long majestic flowing magnificent beard? If so, then you might be Ironfilm, or potentially a member of ZZ Top, but if not then it's ruled out definitively.

  6. Everyone over their 40s will be using Olympus but not in the ways that first they thought. But when using a Olympus colonoscope probably one will think very hard about wide aperture. 😆

  7. I'd prefer more MP, and the tilt screen from the Z8 instead of the flip from the ZF. But I'm probably going to get this anyway. Hopefully they bring open gate and a new log profile too.

  8. Something I’d welcome would be combined battery and SSD grips as in here is your basic body with 1 or 2 card slots and here’s your ‘pro’ version with twice the battery power and an SSD. Or for those that would prefer not to have a ‘larger’ grip, a non-battery, SSD grip that is more slimline.

  9. Expeed 7 can easily handle these specs, the question is the sensor. With smaller market of ILCs, they can't fab a new sensor every couple of years.

    Panasonic Q3 results :)

I've seen a couple videos about turning 2230-size NVME SSD's into CFE-B cards- just takes a simple adapter/casing. Still limited speed-wise by the CFE-B slot I suppose, but certainly cheaper than real cards.

  11. Far from it, - that is just a bonus. Read @PannySVHS post which pretty much sums it up. The S1H is better than the sum of its own parts which are exceptional in their own right and better than any other S camera. So far...

  12. The before and after shots in the video sure are pretty convincing. I had to laugh a couple of times though. What he should have said was: 1) It does a great job of removing moire, but on the other hand it also reduces the sharpness which improves the image more than the removal of the moire, and, 2) It introduces a slight colour shift, but here, I've radically overcompensated in post and made the WB much worse but in the other direction! My vague recollection is that the Rawlite ones seem to be the ones that go bad, but here's how I see it. Either your filter is about to go bad, in which case you have enough problems and the last thing you need is to make your life worse by worrying about it, or your filter will be fine for a long time, in which case worrying will stop you from simply enjoying yourself. 🙂 So, either way....

  13. A full review - this one is PTZ-focused. This one includes a direct test between the P4K and the M4K and the conclusion is it's the same sensor. (linked to timestamp) The side-by-side size comparison really is something!
