Got myself some new glass for Christmas. I do prefer native lenses but the Sigma Speedbooster combo works really well! Screengrabs from GH5 + Speedbooxter XL + Sigma 35/1.4 + Black Pro Mist 1/4.

Just got a Voigtlander 40mm 1.2. Haven't had a chance to test in video yet. But DAMN

A few stills from a shoot last night all on the Pocket 4K XL and CZ 35mm 2.8.

Ive never used the Pentax 30mm f2.8 , it does have a good reputation

the Canon fd 28mm f2 is very good the fd 28mm f2.8 is also very good and cheap on ebay

I do use the Sigma 30mm f1.4 all the time its a superb lens one of my favourites! especially on a speedbooster

the Zeiss Distagon 28mm f2.8 in c/y is a killer lens very good too

if you are shooting micro4/3 check out the NEW Sigma 30mm f2.8 - it has amazing reviews its very very sharp and great value

What's your experience with the following lenses:

- Nikon AF 35-70 f/2.8

- Nikon AF D 80-200 f/2.8

I currently shoot with a Canon (APS-C) and a Panasonic (mft) camera but would like to invest in future-proof lenses. I'll either get a Speedbooster or make the switch to a full-frame Nikon camera.

If I decide to get a Canon to MFT speedbooster, can I use a dummy Nikon to Canon-adapter and use these lenses with the Canon speedbooster?

Nikon AF 35-70 f/2.8

same great glass as the superb 28-70mm f2.8 nikon I use alot ...BUT its A PUSH PULL ZOOM .

now of you can live with a push pull zoom then its agreat way of getting super Nikon glass alot cheaper

Nikon AF D 80-200 f/2.8 - the other 'Bourne' Lens also used on Casino Royale and Quantum of Solice

I cannot say enough good things about this lens - its VERY VERY GOOD everyone should have one,

I use dumb Nikon to Canon EF adapters on my Nikon lenses then I put them on Canon EF - Micro 4/3 speedboosters/Lens Turbos.

so yes you can do that with no issues

hope this helps !! This Nikon Glass is amazing!!

PS

if you are looking for a very very good 35-70mm lens that is optically excellent very very little distortion at all focal lengths

then get the superb Canon FD 35-70mm f4 ......yes f4 but the trick is put it on a RJ FD to micro 4/3 speedbooster and it becomes a f2.8 25-50mm constant apperture zoom

this lens is very cheap and optically amazing - read Ken Rockwells review of it

its small light and great for an everyday run and gun film zoom - as good optically as the Nikons just alot lighter does not need a rig

As usual, thanks Andy for your fantastic input!

The Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 is sold by a local shop. I haven't been able to inspect the lens but usually their stuff is in very good condition and they also offer some sort of warranty. They sell it for 599€ - would you say that's a good deal? I have no experience whatsoever shopping for used lenses.

I'm afraid the Canon 35-70 doesn't really cut it for me because of the aperture. Using lights is not an option for the stuff I shoot (outdoors stuff in the woods) and most of the time I have to shoot between f/1.4 and f/2.0.

HI Andy, I picked up a few Topcon RE lenses today, 35, 58, 100 and 300 (which appears to have a broken iris).  Just ordered the Topcon to nex adapter.  I figured the 100 is worth the $95 I paid for all of them.  Anyway, should I do some sample video or do you already know what these lenses do?

you got a right bargin there! nice one!! these are very collectable lens and expensive too

I have never seen any here in the UK - the optics are hi end on a par with Nikon Nikkor glass

so if you want to test them I would very much like to see the results !!

thanks

A

Anyone used the Canon 28 -70mm 2.8f L USM Lens for Video? I just scored one off ebay for $485. The reviews say its sharper than the newer 24 -70mm 2.8. Anyone used one, they stopped making them 2002 I believe?

they are good , .....28-70mm is my favourite range for a zoom .........faster than the 24-105mm f4 L series and a tad sharper too

if you are shooting Micro 4/3 stick it on a speedbooster it becomes an f2 20-50mm

ps : this lens is fully fly by wire apperture so if anyone is getting one to use on a non Canon camera I would

get the equally as good Nikon 28-70mm f2.8 IF ED 'Bourne Lens' as it has a fully manual apperture for filming

and just stick a nikon-canon adapter on it if you want to use it on a canon 5d etc

Both lenses are optically very similar not much in it

pps: the Canon extends about 2 inches when zooming - so no matte box can work on it on rails

the Nikon extends about 2cm and works on my Arri Matte box as it extends into the filter tray and doesnt push the matte box forwards at all. you need a lens support under these lenses if you are on 15mm rods they are big and heavy
