So, you don't know what the limits are? You suggest a shooting scenario that is reasonable, but then you  just assume the worst. and then complain about it, as if it were true!
I shot this 4K 120p video with the Sony ZV E1, which has the same "overheating" issue (no fan, compact body) and the same codecs as the a6700 (different sensor) but like the a6700 in 120p 4K, there is no oversampling.
Shot all clips in 4K 120p, successive clips averaging 10 seconds (obviously trimmed in post) in an hours worth of shooting in 80+ temperature. Just like your scenario. Never got a warning. Camera was always on, no long intervals between shots.
Now, I would not recommend the a6700 or the ZV E1 if you do not want to think about overheating, given you can get the same quality (fx3 or fx30), at greater expense and bulk, without overheating.
But given the above scenarios, the chance of overheating is small. But, why be limited to those scenarios? Why worry? Move on. There are options.
It is too bad you cannot yet have big sensors, high bitrates, high resolution, high frame frame rates from a tiny camera with no fan and not have heat issues.
I am not a Sony fan, apologist, influencer or paid shill.
Right now, I like the Nikon Z8 and RAW video, even for 4K 120p. And, it can overheat too, but has not so far for me with plenty of 8K 60P RAW shooting (not long interviews of course, but who needs a static 8K 60P interview video?). And that camera has an alternative also with the exact same quality that does not overheat; and, again, at greater cost and with increased bulk (Z9). Your choice.

Well there is always 3rd party fan to help extend the time a bit. But definitely won't be as good as proper body build with heat dissipation in mind.

Or add umbrella on top 😆

I ended up ordering a Leofoto BV-30M, which has the distinction of being one of the few flat-base fluid heads with an continuously adjustable counterbalance. The caveat is that there aren't many reviews (I only found one) so I'm going to be a guinea pig on this one. It looks like they have a good return policy and a 10-year warranty, so I'll see if it works for me.

    From John Brawley:
"No. Canon, like Sony won't license their mount. It's an open secret that Red did an IP swap for the ability to use RF mount on some of their cameras and in exchange, Canon can make their own internal raw codec that can be used in-camera.

It's easy to test the theory. Name a single camera (not lens) with E mount that isn't made by Sony? Same for Canon with RF (excluding Red)?"

By the way there is a long thread on BM forums on the subject started in January this year. Last post from John Brawley explains in details why Blackmagic would not go or even cannot go with Sony E mount. Previous posts from him explain what L mount alliance is and how it differs from m43 one, why developing FF camera using EF mount doesn't make sense for BM, etc. He basically makes the same argument in details that L mount is the one that makes sense for BM. Worth reading for those who are interested:
    https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=173840&start=450
John Brawley of course is not BM but he has a good relationship with the company. I doubt he knows something from inside but his argumentation IMHO is solid

According to same John Brawley there is no licensing cost for any camera manufacturer to implement BRAW recording internally, it is not just for post processing. There is a cost however in development, to put all those algorithms in the processor chip. To my knowledge  processor chip development is quite costly. Companies are using one chip for all of their models and for several years in order to be able to pay for this development.

Over the years I have invested so much in taking M43 underwater (GH2 GH3 GH4 GH5) that just the idea that it has reached the end of the line pisses me off like a beast.
I am still convinced that M43 is the best format in existence for underwater shooting. The size of the sensor and lens allows for minimal lens ports, and with modern wet lenses you get a very compact kit (housing and port/wet lens).
Switching to FF while maintaining the same quality means having an underwater kit at least twice the size and a bare expense of at least 20K euros if not more.  Also, given the current availability of underwater accessories, it almost certainly means saying goodbye to Panasonic and jumping into the hands of Sony or Canon.
If I were a professional earning from underwater work it would be an attractive investment. but for an amateur like me the jump is almost impractical unless you are really rich.
    What a shame.

With a medium rig as my GH5 it's a completely different story.
My camera housing has three 1" spheres integrated so I can attach clamps and legs as tripod for macro or details which requires a stable position.

Fow wide angle shoot I just remove the legs, mount a diffrrent lens and port and I change floating arms to get a different bouyancy and trim.

Very mixed. I am not dependant on ads and never have been so that side makes no difference to me, but there is definitely a shift to YouTube and social media. People aren't researching Google or reading long articles as much as before.
YouTube is a grind and I have mixed feelings about that too. I enjoy it when I have some ideas. But the thought of being on a treadmill of content is horrific. Don't post for a week and you may as well be dead.
On the other hand, EOSHD is great, having your own site independent from the algorithms of social media and YouTube is much more relaxed and I can do what I like, post what I want, when I want. And then there is this lovely forum, which is pretty unique.
Never was close to the PR side of the camera industry and rejected a lot of advances.
The site is not in a better position to cuddle up to the manufacturers, they are putting their free loans and exclusive invitations behind social media influencers instead now.
Bloggers with articles are the previous gen of social media influencers.
Now it is clowns and show offs on social media.
They are perfect for one another and I don't want to be involved to be honest.
I am looking to the future now and that is keeping EOSHD updated, at the same time as moving onto two new sites:
Full Frame AI (making most of AI for photographers)
    and
Ultra Camera Review (smartphone cameras and apps)
There is much more future development in these areas than in mirrorless cameras, or filmmaking. Video on stills camera has kind of been "done" hasn't it?

It's really hard not to root for Nikon given how hard they are working to stay relevant and trying to carve out a piece of the video pie. I am not in a position to switch from Lumix and the L-mount, but if I were in a position to do so Nikon would be the favorite.
The thing is though that Lumix will release something within the next year that will make me want to stay, haha.
I do hope though that Nikon is rewarded for the effort they've put in. They've definitely been amongst the most forward thinking companies since the full frame mirrorless transition, which is even more notable given how it feels like some companies are taking steps backwards (:cough: Sony :cough:)

You've clearly never run a site or a business!
If you've never run a site then you'll have no idea how much effort goes into running it and maintaining it in the background.
Sites require constant maintenance as they are constantly under siege from spammers, hackers, new user requests etc.  Even if you disable comments and logins and all the Web 2.0 functionality you still need to update the software regularly or hackers will pWn your site and turn it into an ad for viagra or to support Putin.
That's the site, but to keep paying for it you need to have an active bank account and need to keep putting money in it.  That bank account was probably under a business name, and to keep that active you need to keep the business name active, which means filing tax returns and dealing with whatever other accounting and government tasks are required.
Did your business have anything else associated with it?  Offices, parking, permits?  You'll need to manage those things too.
The list is truly endless.  There's a good reason that social media sites like Medium or Wordpress or Facebook or YouTube are so popular - because maintaining your own platform is literally a full-time job.

Tokina 10-17mm is a very mediocre lens for topside photography yet it's a legendary lens for underwater photography. IIRC went EOL months ago. On video it's a different story: some defects are called character.

Continuing its steady avalanche of camera roll-outs, Sony is expected to release 5 new E-mount cameras this year alone, including some sort of cine/video centric camera later this Spring and an FX10 by this summer with the same 26MP FX30 sensor but with AI processor (expect ZV-E1 features) plus an added mechanical shutter but no IBIS at an entry-level price.
An oversampled 6K sensor should make better sense for the AI and stab cropping stuff.

Found some tasty GH5 footage with the tasty Tokina 11 16 2.8. Finding tasty GH5 footage is always a treat as this camera is still super capable and it was one of the first fantastic cameras which reversed the trend of medium camera- great footage. It started the infamous trend of great camera- mediocore footage. So I am always enjoying a good find regarding great image quality coming from this awesome camera. Love the colours and use of the hybrid beast. The channel has a variety of great stuff to enjoy, browse and watch, for instance using the GHAlex Lut on the natural profile instead of VLog. Anyway, here is the tasty, tasteful wide angle cinematic:) video.

OK, here is one with a less cinematic aspect ratio:
I really do not see why an aspect ratio has to be tied to particular frame rate. I like widescreen aspect ratios and I like realistic motion. I get that low frame rates and widescreen are what some people are used to, but why should that be so limiting? There have not been many cameras that can actually shoot non-crippled 4K 60 fps in widescreen.
And I really do not think that soap opera style is defined by a frame rate. TV soap operas were (are?) shot with flat lighting, little contrast (and stilted dialogue deliveries). There is a TV soap-opera look. It is far from the look of my videos.
Are football games - shot and shown in 60 fps on TV (Fox, ABC, ESPN) - soap operas?
60 fps = realistic motion. And now we have a portable, inconspicuous, camera with IBIS and great AF that can shoot 4K 60 fps, with oversampling and no additional crop, in widescreen. Which is why I use it. I can shoot the videos I like.
And here is a parade in 4K 60p. Lots of motion - why would anyone shoot a a sports event or a parade in 24 fps?

There is a lot more to a camera than 'image quality' and he did say it was a 'Superior video tool'  to which, for video shooters, the FX3 IS superior to the A7SIII.
While it's a shame that Sony doesn't bring some of the new features to the A7 line given that we know the hardware can probably take it, I guess that is now Sony's way of saying "the FX line is for the video shooters" and they don't want to blur the lines. I'd be pissed too if I bought the A7SIII as Sony did market it as their video centric hybrid but it seems they now want to charge direction.
There is a lot that Sony does that makes no sense to the end user.....
