    Nothing.
Except if you are a hybrid shooter like me with a prime and flipping between stills and video all day long!
That 28mm…well the framing was great for those stills, but then I flipped to video and it’s more like 42mm and I can’t back up to match as I was already backed up to the wall!
”So just shoot FF or APSC!”
Well I could but I like what I get from my Lumix cameras so I work around it by having cameras and lenses dedicated to certain things at certain times.
It is a workaround but one I can live with if I have to and for most of the video side, I actually use a 28-70mm f2.8 to which I have just added a 16-28 giving me options more like 24-42mm and 42-105mm and I tend to use the wider angle as my indoor lens and switch to the longer zoom as my outdoor.
I then only use the extreme ends (as if they were twin primes) so indoor I shoot 24 and 42 and outdoor 42 and 105 which as with any focal lengths you become used to, gives you a ‘look’ that you just know how to work with.
I have the above set up with the S5 dedicated to indoor (and gimbal outdoor) and the S1H outdoor.
This is possibly where I might just trade both cams for one single S5ii and keep my S1R’s…

Blacked out LUMIX logo a la Leica SL2.
    I like that.
I used a black sharpie on mine just to make them more subtle 😁

Merry Christmas to the whole EOSHD Forum crew!
i shot this little christmas film on the blackmagic pocket 6K pro with the Sigma 16-35 and the laowa probe. As it borrowed all the Lego models, the camera (thanks to Impossiple Filmproduction in Hamburg) the probe it was a whole lot of production time. Also it took quite long to set the whole thing up. Of course i wanted to tell little stories with the lego figures, but time became tooooo tight and it took me several attempts to find a lighting situation that would work. Of course the scene would have also been much greater if i had more of the practical lamps.I looked for small lights around the house and now there is a variety of lamps inside the houses.  You can fiddle around with the lighting for ages! i definitelely had the feeling i had to stop when i was just getting started. This might also be a fun thing to just shoot on an iphone.. Hopefully next year...
And of  course i would be happy if you would show the film to your children, share it and like and comment and follow my channel on youtube...

And to show the improvement i am also putting in the first LIL chilltrain Christmas movie from two years ago.

Well looks like DP Review and Ted Forbes also in Japan and in the end of year predictions for next year, the only major camera body brand not discussed… Panasonic.
NDA in place so you can hardly speculate when you already know what’s coming can you?!
Another sign IMO there is at least one FF camera coming soon.
I could be reading that wrong, but don’t think so.

I learned a lot from this video (probably already posted). Presented by The great Driftwood himself (kudos to Panasonic for hiring him to do this). For you millennial noobs, Driftwood was the Englishman who gave us many important hack settings for the hacked GH2, arguably one of the cameras that really started everything for mirrorless cameras.

Just a guy, reading the same rumour sites as everyone else, but then decides to make a video about it with catchy thumbnail (expressive face, bold colours) and suppressing a healthy dose of scepsis, hoping to gain some traffic. He's not the only one using that technique.

My god it better be good or the internet will explode with rage! Lumix cameras will be burnt in their dozens (according to the latest sales figures), Panasonic reps will receive several hate tweets (now permitted) whilst the remaining doubters will be carried over onto the populist march to total dominance by Sony.

Only the leopard at iso 16'000 has NR applied, mostly chroma noise reduction. All the others have zero NR applied.

RAW is more noisy and rightly so as most camera apply NR to 10bit Log, RAW should have none (I think a bit is there anyway but not sure). Imo this is great as you can fine tune the NR that you need, you can even go fancy and apply NR to only specific area or color range.
If you open a R5 RAW picture in LR you will see that by default it apply color noise reduction, so some NR on RAW is needed even for photos. Although imo a well exposed ISO 800 (base iso) RAW video does not need any NR.

Not knowing the settings and what was done in post out of the RAW of the video that you posted is impossible to judge imo.

In general I find it better to expose to the right with Canon RAW and lower the black in post than raising the shadow.

I was also very surprised how well it managed this tricky situation. Overall AF is quite reliable but is not always perfect. This is example when it lost it in the easiest phase but the condition where really challenging.

R5c 8K RAW 1/50 ISO 16'000 (yes not a typo ISO 16k) 400mm 2.8, AF tracking, on a bean bag, it was basically night and my driver did not believe I could film in that light. The beginning is out of focus until I could select the young leopard face, at 0.19 is when the camera loses him.

Can't get enough job these days, so my skills may be useful here. I can do green screen keying, cleanups/object replacement, tracking, basic 3d modelling and stuff around such topics. Nothing fancy, I am not a world wide acknowledged cg artist but have some skills and experience. Here is my eclectic reel - https://disk.yandex.ru/i/V9USqVPwl0DDOg (it's accessible in Georgia so I assume it's accessible in other countries, too).
    Rules are:
    1. You give me one shot/clip at a time, I do it for free.
    2. I get the right to publish it here, on my youtube channel and use the resulting clip and the creation process as demonstration of skills and self promotion to other people and organizations.
    3. You can use the result of my work as you wish until it contradicts term no.2. Or at least inform me about the change of situation.
Of course there may be clips I won't be able to do, and I'll do my best to point it out right at the start. Also I'm still trying to earn for life, there may be a delay before I can do your clip (and I'll tell you about it). So if you have a complicated case in burning ASAP situation it may be better to contact an established CG facility on commercial basis.
In general I'm trying to build up portfolio and maybe get in touch with new customers but at the moment I just don't want to get rusty. Ask questions if any. Chat on the topic (CG/VFX) is also welcomed in this thread.

    Are they?
    I don’t think they are…
Unless it’s some kind of module in the first instance for at least 4/3rd cameras and maybe existing FF, but being developed to be in camera for the next gen of the S line some time in 2023?
This is currently my best guess…but is nothing but that, a guess…

Another year, I return with my traditional police Christmas video. This year a short film of a thief who climbs the walls dressed as Santa Claus, to camouflage himself as the popular Christmas decoration. Remember that it is a video that we make in which each roll is interpreted by policemen, not actors, and that the technical section this time is made up of some more members of the squad, where only 2 of us have audiovisual knowledge.
I hope it makes you laugh at least a small part of what we have laughed shooting it.

A greeting to all, and especially to Andrew.

I'm much more cautious than John, ha ha, especially regarding the specifics, but I do suspect something significant. I've seen folks post that they've returned from Japan, so I imagine we'll see what's up once the embargo is lifted. I do, however, think if it was something ready for release they'd have done it while everyone was there still, so I am thinking whatever it is probably won't be ready for a while and this is just Panasonic trying to keep people more informed on what they're working on, which is really all most of us Panasonic users have been asking.
I do think an external LIDAR system is better than nothing, but I also am unsure how I feel about having to spend more money to get better auto focus technology. It's probably something I'd pass on as I've made their AF work for most of my uses, but I would kinda also ask myself "what are we doing here?" I mean, external hardware to get better AF? Really?

    I shot 99% underwater and I saw this test/comparison of R5 vs R5C.
Demo reels contains artifacts and are incredibly noisy on blue and black. I would never buy a camera seeing those clips.

I know for sure these camera are better than that. Maybe they were misconfiguration somehow.

Given the size of this gathering, a photo of the GH6 (especially with the hotshoe cover off), and, after doing some research, the complexity of setting up a LiDAR system, I'm going to conclude that Panasonic will be showing off a LiDAR system (made by DJI) with compatibility for at least the GH6 and native Panasonic lenses, using their internal focusing motors. It will be a simple connection via the hotshoe or USB C jack (most likely) where the Venus processor communicates with the DJI LiDAR System to achieve near-perfect tracking of objects and people. The process to connect the camera and LiDAR system will be seamless and simple (unlike the current crazy process IMO). I cannot see what else would get this much attention. To be determined.
