Nice! Looking forward to hearing your experience with the OM-1.
From what I have seen, the video AF on the OM-1 is pretty solid. Honestly, the OM-1 has been made 3x more interesting BECAUSE Panasonic didn't put PDAF in the GH6. It's still a pulsing mess from the leaked video.
I still think OM Systems could capitalize on this by releasing a more video focused camera that has PDAF. I'm sure a lot of GH5 users would take notice.

I bet if they just took the S1H body, swapped the sensor with MFT one, and removed the shutter they would have plenty of room for a ND. Call it the GH6S. It would probably sell like crazy.

It doesn't take up a huge amount of room either, the diameter of the front of the camera is only a bit bigger than your average EF lens.

I wish the camera companies would recognise the importance of this mechanism and put it in.
    Canon C70 manages it.
    FS5 does it.
It's the Japanese obsession with small widgets that stops it from going into mirrorless cameras.
Just make them 10% bigger and be done with it.

Canon has a physical ND in the 20mm RF flange of C70. I think its pretty clear they can put NDs (especially an eND) into typical mirrorless flange distances when the shutter is removed.
    Sony will do it first.

It was Jane Bown's camera too: https://www.anatomyfilms.com/jane-bown-65-years-with-olympus/
I've been a Jane Bown fan forever, and it's worth reading the article to learn about her minimalist approach: she took some of the most memorable portraits of the 20th century, all with natural light (she never carried a flash), never used a light meter, and brought her two cameras (one with a Zuiko 50mm and the other with a Zuiko 85mm) to her shoots in a shopping bag.

Well the DGO method is using hardware and the other method is doing two different exposures at different shutter speeds and then blending them. I think ZCAM tried to do this and this is also what phones are doing with fast shutter speeds and fast readouts (looks bad in my opinion).

Sadly I must agree that MFT is dying. It would probably still exist in some sort of form for much longer beeing an open system I would imagine some manufactureses still produce MFT gear once in a while, but if OM and Pana fail to make any siginificant money out of those cameras they WILL shut down their MFT camera divisions. This is just a reality.

All I can think about is imagining this camera with the OM-1 autofocus and how good it would be even at $2500.
Love the tilt OR flip screen. Can they license that to Sony in exchange for PDAF please? 😂

I believe the ARRI and Canon DGO method is reading two gain circuits at the same time.
Kinda sounds like they are doing frame blending from a super fast readout.

Finally, a camera manufacture willing to slap a IP rating on their "weather sealed" camera and stand behind it!
IP53 is a pretty good guarantee of protection. The rating says it is essential highly resistent to dust ingress (but not dust tight; no ingress) and can handle spraying water—think lightly blowing rain from all angles or a low pressure garden sprinkler.
Definitely not a "wow" camera but decently solid. Like @John Matthews said I will probably pick up this camera and perhaps the 12-100 f/4 and a f1.2 prime for a "ultralight" camera kit now that it has 10-bit internal up to 4K60p.
I'm more interested in the fast and light stills performance. The HiRes handheld without a tripod, handheld or monopod astro abilities, etc...
GH6 still no PDAF...more DfD "fast" AI technology. I guess I will hold my beer awhile longer to see how that turns out.

I agree on the importance of AF.
    Especially in a mirrorless camera.
In terms of the market, Blackmagic seems to have got a free pass though. Shit AF all round from them, and nobody complains and the cameras sell like hot cakes.
    So what's going on?
Sony, Canon and Nikon all AF obsessed and producing very capable systems in both video and stills mode. Fuji is patchy.
I thought maybe it's Sony patents holding Panasonic to ransom, or past mistakes. But then a literal Olympus CORPSE comes out of a graveyard and gives us Quad Pixel phase-detect AF on sensor.
It's absolutely bizarre the whole thing isn't it?
As for GH6, I have one but am under NDA so can't say anything about it until it launches for real.

Nailed it. They can maybe get away with DfD in the GH6 but if their next FF S-series camera does not offer a major upgrade to AF reliability, consistency, and performance then I am of the opinion LUMIX will be on its way out. We now have cheaper cinema level cameras available with less need to buy something like the S1H for cheaper and put up with its limitations. Other video people, driven mostly my YT'ers, will buy something with amazing AF like a Sony or Canon, and maybe even Fuji.
It is literally the only feature that matters for them. They have all the rest. But it will remain a mystery why they don't put PDAF in their cameras.
At this point it would make a good investigative documentary.

I believe they rated the EM1X as IPX1 which is still essentially a really low rating and still gives them an out on the warranty of use.
IP53 on the other hand is a guarantee this thing could handle blowing rain from multiple angles and it won't get damaged and they stand behind that claim and not some vague "weather sealed" (unless you something more than a sprinkle of rain gets on it) kinda of BS.
