I think everyone freaked out about 8k because its Canon. Who would have thought Canon be the one to spearhead into 8k. Even if its not really needed right now.

That is the Ursa Mini 4.6k, completely different sensor from the Pocket 6k.

Its a little hard to take you seriously when you say the Sony Venice looks like its colors are painted on. You aren't just arguing against people online when you say that, you are saying the people who engineered it must have had no idea what they are doing as well as the productions that use it.

You got me there. Have you worked with enough cameras to definitively say Arri handles color best though? I was looking at some comparisons recently and I remember the Monstro and Venice holding up really well but the Arri probably still did best. 

Is Canon really number 2 in terms of keeping color consistent while pushing exposure and ISO though? 

I have no clue. Some say it has to do with rolling shutter but I've heard some say a camera with much higher RS than another has better motion cadence. I've also heard people say a camera has great motion while another person says it looks bad. So who the hell knows imo

Totaly agree S1H Dr crushes even 1dx miii and for some reasons i prefear colours of S1H .

Little short I shot on the XT3. Was bored and also suffering heart break so I came up with this. Was just filming myself and edited it that same day. Nice to get some creativity out in this odd time. 

If you like cine bodies and don't need 4k and don't need 10 bit beyond 30p then its a good option. 

Why the hell won't Panasonic invest in PDAF? With their new lens lineup I really thought the S1 would be the one to make the leap but no...

Pretty much all this, but we'll see of course. 

You can always argue but they haven't done it before. Look at Panasonic though. Their line was pretty basic up until the GH5 where suddenly you get 10 bit internal, 4k 60p. Of course Blackmagic steps up and throws down a $1000 dollar RAW shooting camera with 4k up to 60p not too long after. Fuji puts out the XT3 with S35 4k 60p 10 bit, Panasonic rolls out full frame 10 bit 4k. 

If Canon wants to stay in the game they have to do more and clearly they are. The 1DX MK3 is no joke and neither will this camera be. 8k 10 bit RAW is nothing to joke about regardless of what it is. 

I don't think it makes the S1H irrelevant but it certainly will give Panasonic something to think about and maybe even more so Sony who is way behind at this point. I expect to see Sony come up with some surprises, I think they have been waiting. 
Regardless it will be very interesting to see everything that comes out. I am really happy with my XT3 still. People are complaining about the S1H not having punch in focus while recording, the XT3 has had that from day 1.

Yeah need to see some good dynamic range tests in RAW

RED is probably the worst when it comes to dynamic range claims. They say things like 21 stops of dynamic range lol. The latest RED offerings come pretty close to ARRI though, the Monstro has very clean shadows.

What prompted Canon to do a completely revelatory camera, in terms of the technology and completely u-turn on their previous strategy of holding back on DSLR video.
Was it seeing so many sales go to Sony?
Was it the need to ensure a new mirrorless lens mount succeeds on the market vs Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic & Sony?
Were they waiting for new manufacturing capabilities to be ready, new factories, to be able to produce such fast sensors and processors?
Did they realise cropped 4K on the EOS R was a bad business strategy?
I'd love to be a fly on the wall at Canon.

The S1H and S1(even more so the S1) are just incredible for the price. 

For pro work though yeah the C500 MK2 looks amazing. Too bad Panasonic won't do phase detect AF. That the main reason people are going sony and canon over panasonic IMO. I also wonder why they didn't put a RAW option in the S1H. 

I am still sticking with my Fuji(and Ursa mini 🥰 😉 ) 

I am still waiting on Canon to release something more hmmm cheaper and better. 

The new 1DX is awesome but whats up with the old body with no tilt screen?? Really looking forward to their new mirrorless releases as the EOS R was a bummer imo. Also just saw a comparison between the S1H and 1DX3 and the Panasonic had a fair bit more dynamic range, even though the Canon was shooting RAW.

I think it should give you more room in grading though to decide where those stops are going.

The C500 simply has things the S1H and fuji don't. Same can be said for the Fuji and S1H in comparison to the C500 but its different tools for different jobs.
