If its the 240 FPS aspect that you are most interested in and don't mind it not having the form factor of a hybrid, have you thought about a used Sony FS5 or even the FS700 with your Shogun Inferno as an alternative?
Both would fit into your budget and the FS700 would actually be a big saving.

Yes, the company responsible for building the GH line of cameras, which is famous for pushing leading edge technology at this price point, couldn't possibly make a camera that has the RAW capabilities of a $1300 camera just released, for only three times the price.  That is completely beyond comprehension!

    https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1185424-REG/sony_pxw_fs5_xdcam_super_35.html
Spotted the news when I was checking up on the HiSpeedCamera website:
    http://www.hispeedcams.com/sony-fs5-240fps-full-hd-camera-gets-750-price-drop/

Didn't realise a new FS5 had dropped to well under four grand.
But I had already noticed the prices of a FS5 on eBay had been steadily trending down this year.

So while the the FS700 had become more and more attractive (around US$1.5K ish is a common price on eBay for a FS700), if the FS5 comes down in price to only be another $1K more (as I'm sure the price drop on a new FS5 will apply pressure to eBay prices!) then it might be a tough ask to buy a FS700 when the FS5 is only a little more. Hmmmm.....

But the Sony PMW-F3 on eBay for as low as possibly US$750ish itself for a whole camera (the FS5 price drop equals a whole F3!) remains attractive, especially as I wouldn't need to buy a new recorder at all for a 2nd F3 camera. (although in the last month or two the  low end floor price of an F3 seems to have trended back up to $1K, I dunno... just a momentary blip I assume in the overall inevitable decline in prices for everything)
Plus of course let's not forget the new BMPCC4K and the many other mirrorless cameras recently released.

Typically, lower megapixel versions are better for video, because fewer pixels means less processing for a full sensor readout. So it's likely the S1 will have an advantage over the S1R for video.

My Japanese cousin who's father in law is president of Panasonic Camcorder division confirms this. He told me that he needs to bribe higher instances to make this happen (even raw internal).
Since this is not exactly legal I can't start a kickstarter but if we can all agree on sending money to one western union account I think we could make this happen. Goal would be 100.000$ US (nothing if you ask me, I mean, full frame raw)
I'm currently based in Egypt, I hope that's not a problem.

They're just another tool set, aren't they?
I've used monopods a lot for event work and other fast moving stuff. They are absolutely great, although I find some of the claims about them on this thread a bit of an exaggeration. Specifically there's almost always a bit of sway going on with them that distinguishes them from tripod shots. Also, the noise of the latches used to adjust height on my manfrotto monopod is sometimes problematic - not so much for ruining a shot, as for distracting the subjects and drawing attention to myself.
On a very small number of occasions (coincidentally, I plan on doing so later today!) - I pull out my little GX80 and go IBIS handheld. It's a really good go-to, which means that I can pack light, be unobtrusive, move around swiftly, and get static shots that are equal in steadiness to a monopod.
I say static shots - for tracking shots I find the movement quite unpredictable with IBIS, so I don't really use it in that way.
So, yeah - a great new tool, that is going to compliment rather than replace the old methods.
I feel similarly about AF. I'm all manual focus and have never had a camera with reliable AF for video. But there are certainly occasions when it would be useful.
It would be ridiculous to say that either tool was suddenly 'necessary' though.

I agree with most of the above, but the thinking is wrong.
Is super slow-motion required in 2018?  Not if you're shooting a doco, but yes if you're shooting a hair or shampoo commercial.
Is IBIS required in 2018? Not if you have the time, space and permission to take a stabiliser of some kind and set it up, yes if you're shooting in situations where a tripod/monopod/shoulder-rig/gimbal/etc isn't allowed or isn't practical.
Is 4K required in 2018? Not if you're shooting for a client that doesn't mandate it, yes if they do (eg, Netflix).
Is RAW required in 2018?  Not if the requirements of your scene will be sufficiently captured in a more compressed coded, yes if you need the flexibility or resolution in post (eg, green screening)
Is AF required in 2018? Not if you have the ability to manually focus sufficiently on set to track the subject in your images, yes if you don't.
Is extreme high ISO performance required in 2018?  Not if you are shooting a bright enough subject, or have the ability to light them sufficiently, yes if neither of these is true.
Anyone can ask the question of ANY parameter within photography and find examples of both yes and no, depending on the project.
ANY DISCUSSION OF REQUIREMENTS BEGINS WITH THE CONTENT TO BE CREATED.  CAMERAS ARE TOOLS FOR A JOB.  EACH JOB IS DIFFERENT.
Anyone who thinks they can generalise is too stupid to understand that other people shoot different projects, using different techniques, in different circumstances.

@Mmmbeats if you've been looking at the Zeiss range you have probably come across the Zeiss survival guide.. if not, it's quite an interesting read ? looking at the zeiss contax lenses myself recently, liking the look they give.. those classics look really nice too.

This page is pretty much all the newer stuff available. But the Classic stuff is mostly for Photography, so not ideal for video. MF, click aperture, and short focus throw. And maybe even a bit Too sharp. Even the old Contax Zeiss stuff converted is a bit too sharp for my liking. But you can tame them down with filters. Hard to make crappy lenses better with filters LoL.

Can you adapt a mirrorless lens to EF? Physics say no.
But to MFT? Without even looking the specs to check if it is possible, I can say this is very very very unlikely to be done with the electronic connections you'd need to fully control the lens.
(although of course these new mounts lack many needed lenses, but what I mean is that there is no new lens which alone could drive me towards them)

For example, "Bob insists that the Pocket 4K’s sensor is not the same manufacturing part as the one in the GH5S", Bob being Bob Caniglia of Blackmagic Design.
Also, on P4K ("Quattro Kappa" for Italians) memory cards and SSD, USB-C variants, audio XLR and 4 mics on the camera, bluetooth remote control, Extended Video, dual ISO, shutter angle vs. speed, window(ed) shooting, etc.

Takes a series of images and moves the sensor using the ibis in-between. Then the camera stitches them together. Available on many cameras from various brands. The subject needs to be still like architecture or a landscape. Great for product photography.

I can really appreciate that post, and identify with the grievances you raise.  I know how a drip drip of small slights can add up to a major frustration.  I also think you are right to strike out at the fraudulent and self-serving nature of the camera release world.  More power to you.
I'm glad also that this post is a bit self-reflective.  Like others I posted that your article was a bit of an own-goal - I was actually genuinely a bit worried for your state of well-being.
I hope you achieve great success in challenging some of these goings on in the industry - and I hope you learn some lessons from this that make you better equipped to do so!!!

We all act small too often. Acting big is what we need more of.
My unsolicited advice: Delete the anti BM article - it doesn't reflect your intellect but, as you say above, it's the result of a perfect emotional storm.
I'd offer JB an olive branch privately - he's a good man and a valuable voice for any creative community.
A lot of your members look up to you and it's a good opportunity to show them the value of thoughtfulness.

I am certainly not bigger than a camera company, or more important than Blackmagic and I think people may have seen the hysterics as a bit silly.
I accept that yes, possibly I have shot myself in the foot.
Having said that, EOSHD is bigger than me as well and is a real community. I was standing up for the community and not just for myself.
This was a perfect storm for me. A combination of several factors which caused me to get upset enough to write that article...
First the Canon EOS R launch and the new levels of invasive of PR offensive we are seeing from the camera companies to quell dissent and turn even Caleb Pike into a "it's not perfect but WOW what a great camera" kind of guy. Rather than the person he should be, a "1.8x crop sucks" kind of reviewer.
Secondly the overwhelming feeling of shithead sycophants climbing above my site, in the VIP lane, completely undeservedly.
Thirdly the geographical positioning of the Blackmagic event, it being on my doorstep.
Next the fact Cinema5D were paid to fly in. I could have walked in.
Finally, the John Brawley factor on here and the lack of support from most of my own readers, honestly all this is enough to give someone a nervous breakdown.
It's hard to really get across how I feel, because it is a weird situation and I think the internet is a bit weird as well. In real life, people don't say the things I say or say the things to me that I have had to put up with. People need to calm down, myself included.
    It's only a camera.
But I do feel the future of camera and tech journalism is at stake. In fact it may already be absolutely dead. And the most depressing thing of all is that the reader is fine, unawares, and on the most part notices no issue.
    No, that wasn't my intention.
Yes I have dug myself into a very silly hole.
I'll be the first to admit that.
Yes Johnnie at Cinema5D is laughing his business head off as we speak.
