I dont think stills shooters will be interested in this camera. It has no mechanical shutter, a fairly slow sensor readout (as evident from a 1/30th flash sync speed) and therefore will be pretty much useless for photos of anything moving and longer focal lengths.

    You're welcome!
Video is tricky and colour and colour science is especially tricky because it's a very very deep subject.
The main levels I see in colour are:
Use camera on full-auto in standard colour profile, don't adjust in post Dial in a profile to get the results you want in-camera, maybe using a grey-card and maybe not Shoot log using a grey-card and grade in post using LUTs and basic adjustments Grade manually without relying on LUTs to do the work Professional colourists I also hang out on liftgammagain.com which is aimed at professional colourists and in many ways the gap in skill level and knowledge between 3 and 5 (or even 4 and 5) is larger than the gap between 1 and 3.  If you're curious to have a tiny taste of what a professional colourist skill level might be like, check out Juan Melara on YT.  It's a fundamentally different kind of skill level. Here's a couple of videos to get you started:
In talking to the professional colourists I've come to understand that the world of Hollywood and the real pros has basically no overlap with the YT world - if all you know is YT then you've never seen a glimpse of how that other world works, with the only exception I know of being Juan Melara.  I'm happy to point you to other resources where pros hang out if you're curious.
In this sense I appreciate that you're torn between people that haven't got a clue how little they know and probably complain about anything resembling work, and those with more knowledge criticising you for not catering to a more informed audience.

I did a double take on this because I thought this thread might be 3 years old.
'Torrenting' as a percentage of total internet usage has been increasing since 2015 - precisely because of the rise of streaming services. 4 years ago Netflix had a virtual monopoly and so you could watch pretty much anything decent on the service. The rise of competitors - Prime, Disney, HBO, Apple etc - means now if you want to watch the best shows you either have to subscribe to half a dozen services, torrent or miss out.....

I am pretty excited about the ipadOD (long time since I have thought that about an Apple announcement. Now that ipad has its own OS, it is no longer shackled to the iphoneOS and can evolve into an OS for content creators as well as content consumers. So the announced features should only be the beginning - and from what I have seen so far they look pretty good.

The A7riii and A7iii have had their updates since the A9 firmware update. Aurofocus is improved but it doesnt include the same object tracking as the A9. (I think there are processor constraints.)

I think a sensible approach is to have one local backup and one cloud backup. The cloud gives you automatic offsite and allows you to go 'back in time' in case you accidentally delete stuff and it is copied to your local backup (like I did a while ago.)
Cloud doesnt need to be expensive. I use Crashplan for small businesses which is US$10 per month. Unlimited storage including connected external drives like my NAS (or a drobo). And restoring is free.

Well they 'say' they are aiming at pro business and 'Hollywood' but I dont think this is really the market. It looks to be a classic Apple case of 'building and image' for a product that is more style than substance. My guess is this product will be very popular with 'CEOs' and 'Chairman' of companies who like a bit of 'bling' in their office and who will say it is a 'beast' as they use it to do their emails and surf the web.
I'll bet they will sell a ton!!

Well it isnt that surprising. Lumafusion is the killer app on an ipad pro. You can pretty much justify buying an ipad pro on the back of this app. Still if Apple genuinely cares about the app, they really need to let us have the ability to transfer to and from the app via a proper working usb-c port. Really it is very little to ask for from a product with 'pro' in its name (and it would also go a long way in terms of justifying the 'pro' v 'standard' ipad price premium.

I think whats very interesting is how hard Apple themselves are pushing LumaFusion in their own ads.
I'm not sure whether it means they are more likely to offer the sort of file handling that is required or that is more likely they are going to buy them out !
The feedback I've been getting regarding my interface bridge for LumaFusion also tells me that it is definitely on the rise as an alternative to a desktop editor for some projects even when people are sat at an actual desktop rather than just out in the field.

I was hoping the integration with the WD Wireless Pro drive was going to be the missing piece of the puzzle as it is integrated straight into LumaFusion for import and export and it is conceptually great but having picked one up a few weeks ago the reality doesn't match unfortunately.
I was given pause for thought by @Robert Collins report about it being slow when I mentioned getting one but the demos I'd seen of it with LumaFusion looked workable and thought it might work better as it was a specific integration job they did for it like they do with Gnarbox.
Unfortunately, the performance of the drive is absolutely shit with its own application let alone with someone else's.
The standalone auto import from SD card is not only incredibly slow but also very, very suspect.
On three different cards from three different camera types it purported to have finished copying but had failed to import all of the files and no way would I trust it again to do it on its own.
The less said about its wireless transfer speed, even on 5.8Ghz band, the better.
So, to return to the original post  anything that can sort out the file handling will be very welcome.
The ProRes thing is getting in the way for me now though and that still might make the new version of Gnarbox worth a look as if it can also be directly attached then that will be the whole import/transcode solution sorted.

Realistically the US economy isnt doing that well. If you plot the US public fiscal deficit against unemployment ,,,,

..you will see that the deficit is 'rising' near 'full employment' - essentially the economy is being 'pump primed' at its limits unlike '2000' and '2006'. Essentially it isnt difficult to show the appearance of 'growth' if you cut taxes and increase spending (or simply borrow more) but you are simply spending at the expense of future generations.

The lag on the stabilisation is pretty drastic. It'll be quite frustrating to film anything where framing is important.
Skip to 6:30ish for the 'very slight' (around 2 seconds) delay on the panning/movements.
while people are talking about the Pocket though, I recently handed one to my wife, who's not really interested in filming anything, and she didn't want to give it back. She said it was too much fun and got all experimental with it, pushing it through gaps in a fence etc. To me, thats exactly how cameras in this market should make someone feel. You can take a quick photo on your phone, but you can really have fun with a tiny accessory. I predict the lag on the Osmo Action will take all the fun out of kind of filming.
    Just my 2c.

I think you are spot on here....

This photo was posted by OsitaLV on twitter (serial DJI leaker.)
He also referred to the OsmoSport as a repackaged Osmo Pocket with wider angle lens. This also looks very small to me. Looks like an interesting product (but, then again, I am something of a DJI fan boy!!)
