The Techart adapter has not quite landed yet.... It has however, actually shipped and is somewhere in Europe. Expected delivery date tomorrow Monday 1st July!

HDV 1080 was about 25Mbit/s.
Cameras like the Canon HV20/30 would still be relatively interesting as a really bargain basement option if they included one of the 35mm adapters with them. CCD mojo  
That Fisher Price camera that I posted above above actually records to cassette.
As in audio cassette.
So its less a case of a bit rate and more a case of a bit shit.

For the Pocket4K, I know of a device that uses a wheel to manually control the speed of the pull between two marked points on electronic lenses.
My main takeaway from the video is how insanely priced the ultrasonic "AF" systems for the cinema cameras are.

I was pondering getting one of these to deliberately finish last with and spite the winner !
But I then discovered that, shockingly, the money they change hands for wouldn't actually fit in the budget. 
Must be because they are CCD and not CMOS so ergo must have more mojo .

A couple more from the 7Artisans 28mm f1.4 that I got the other week.

Yeah I need to not cheap out and buy that one.
Minimum focus distance on the 28mm with the one I've got is about 2 nautical miles.

Kipon with Close Focus is always my go-to for MFT. Takes care of the long focus distance inherited by the Leica mount.

They're just jpegs off the SL as I only used the lens for about an hour after I got it before resuming holiday mode so today has been the first chance I've had to look at what I did with it so I was just pushing them to make a LUT with for when I do some video with it.
I want to use it on the Pocket4K (or my newly acquired Micro  ) but I don't know whether its just me but I don't seem to be getting much joy with M mount lenses on MFT.
I picked up a dirt cheap A7Rii a few days previously to use with the TechArt to have a poor man's AF high res Leica M but only got chance to have this quick go with the 7Artisans 50mm f1.1, which I love on the SL, but the jury is out with it on the Sony although, again, I'm just pushing jpegs about so need to have closer look when I get more time.

I'm waiting on a couple more parts to arrive next week but I've picked one of these cheap RC transmitters up as a starting point.
You can connect the receiver to the Micro and assign controls to each channel of it so a full turn of the wheel will take the focus from near to far etc.
This one has 3 channels (the wheel, the trigger and a switch) so probably looking at focus, aperture and record but I'll need to modify it to remove the springs so that the wheel and trigger don't return to the central point when you let go.
Its more or less the same size as those cheap LANC handles so is size appropriate and will be quite neat to have a wireless control handle.

A quick peek at one of the expansion options for the PBC.
This one is a focus controller where the focus range of the lens is mapped to one full turn of the control.
Obviously, ignore the electrical tape thats holding it together.
The production version will be using gaffer tape.

Sounds about right.
Only from the date that the rules have been finally thrashed out though.

Oh dear! It's turning into Formula One! Rulebooks volume 1 and 2 have got longer than War & Peace and although agreement on the budget cap is progressing well, Alonso wants to use his CineLike D profile whereas some other drivers would prefer Magic Lantern!!
I reckon LX100 is a total bargain. However, it's a bit too good given the spirit of the rules aims to make us all shoot with much worse.
So a compact still has to be £200 or under with lens! Or, we could have another competition later where we rise to £300 and the possibilities of what to use changes.
For this contest, I think we really have to aim for total trash cams and somehow, with raw skill, make em look half-way decent.
The scoring should work on two areas:
1. The treasure hunt part
2. The end results
Say you have the luck and shopping skills to swoop on a 4K LX100 for under £200... That's going to net a good score in the Treasure Hunt.
Then if you make something really cinematic with it, that makes it look more like a RED than a small-ish sensor compact, that's a high score in the End Results.
So with just those two things to focus on, we can be free to use whatever camera and lens we like as long as the CAMERA is under £200 and the LENS is a relatively cheap favourite you already own. £500 modern lens not allowed, etc.
I think that's WAAAY too long. The aim is not to go crazy on a multiple-day shoot, I think it takes a lot of cinematography skills to make the ordinary every-day and natural light look great, versus being a full on filmmaker putting all sorts of organisation into a project and a ton of effort over multiple days, that's not really in the spirit of a fun little competition.
Then again I appreciate that a fun competition-experiment isn't exactly going to be a huge priority for people with jobs inflexible schedules, so we should definitely give everyone, even the most busy, enough time to join in.
I'd say, if the main blog post marks the start of the competition this weekend, then 1 week to find a camera and 1 week to shoot something, even if only for 1 day, would be enough.

Good God Man! The last thing we need is for the majority of people in this country to vote even that many times... don’t encourage them!
(Far better employed painting models of buses - although in sunny Spain that reference might be lost?)
