Contrary to popular belief it appears that this is actually possible although I do not know what the maximum fstop acheivable would be. It is called a wide converter and was patented by kodak about two decades ago. We have never seen one since Kodak owns the patent and never produced one themselves.

I'll go against the current grain here and say it's a very nice camera with a ton of cool options.  The 1080p120 and 10-bit are appealing for sure.
However it's still a "quarter size" sensor that only does CDAF in video mode, doesn't have a built-in ND, does not AF that well at all with the Metabones, still not great in low light, much tougher obviously to get wide and fast (7-14 F/4 is like 14-28 F/8 on FF), dynamic range less due to sensor size, 20MP might be a bridge too far.
Don't know - if this was a native S35 sensor with PDAF in video mode I'd be much more excited.  I thought the GH3 / GH4 footage all looked pretty good, and I haven't really seen anything that much better or different IMO on the GH5.
On the stills size even the .64 Speedbooster isn't going to get you that FF aesthetic no matter the FPS, and there's really no way possible to get anything to match what a 300 2.8 on a FF body (like a 1dx) will give you.  They'd need to release a 150mm F/1.4.
I personally thought the size of the GH2 made more sense - after all, this is micro-four thirds, right?

But hey, to each their own.  Just doesn't do much for ME.  Would I take one?  Sure.  Am I going to fork out $2k?  Nah.

It sounds like you and I have completely different ergonomic brains! I used to use the 5D in continuous focus via the shutter half press and could never get it to behave predictably. By contrast with the D750, cross points or no, once I figured out how the AF worked it was really easy to adapt camera movements, triggering the AF, timing of the shutter release etc to get what I was after.
And I love that 3 way selector! It feels natural to me to have single farthest away from me, manual closest and continuous a click in either direction.
Its cool how we both love the thing that drives the other crazy. Moral of the story: rent before you buy.

Hi Vladimir, so the new variable diopter that goes in front is really designed for M4/3 so I'm not sure it will work with APS-C. I have never used speedbooster yet. The good news is it's small and should work with other small 8mm scopes. I'm hearing 2 or 3 F stops sharper with variable diopter attached. F2 or F2.8 would probably be the limit but don't want to make any claims till I see. The last footage I posted looks very promising.

Looks nice, I agree. But how good in practice, don't sure. Yes, I speak Russian
Test from other man with similar method on F:1.4. Quick focus from one object to other. Maded for one taking lens, but more elegant scheme for my opinion.

Such a bulky system with those large NAP glasses in terms of IQ have a point only for using wide open apertures on fast 80+ mm (when front element of taking lens is bigger than regular rear anamorphic attachment entrance). For fast 50-75mm primes there is a great option like Rectilux and for shooting at F4 (as in attached video) there is Rangefinder or FM. Which all can be used without those additional drives and batteries.

Vladimir reacted to joema in New information regarding H.265 on the Panasonic GH5
As I previously described, deployment of H265/HEVC has been slowed for non-technical reasons. There have been major disputes over licensing, royalties and intellectual property. At one point the patent holders were demanding a % of gross revenue from individual end users who encode H265 content. That is one reason Google developed the open source VP9 codec. The patent holders have recently retreated from their more egregious demands, but that negatively tainted H265 and has delayed deployment.
The licensing and royalty issue is why the evaluation version of Premiere Pro does not have H265.
VP9 is replacing H264 on Youtube, and they will transition to VP9's successor AV1 soon. AV1 is also open source, not patent-encumbered, and significantly better than H265/HEVC: http://www.streamingmedia.com/Articles/Editorial/What-Is-.../What-is-AV1-111497.aspx
Skylake's Quick Sync has partial hardware support for VP9 and Kaby Lake has full hardware support, but I don't know about AV1.

Vladimir reacted to Timotheus in My thoughts on the Kipon Medium Format "Speedbooster"
Of course results are what count. My 2 cents: just don't get caught up in a possibly expensive quest for medium format glass assuming there is a super different, unique, mythical look to be achieved. (Not to say that hunting down and using vintage glass is a blast!).
Understanding equivalence can help one understand what results can be expected from any combination of sensor size and lens. Yes, there are unique combo's at the extremes of the range (no m43 equivalent lens for a 50mm f1.0 on full frame). But in general: for the most frequently used focal lengths, you can find equivalent lenses for the current different sensor sizes, thus yielding (close to) identical optical results.

Vladimir got a reaction from Justin Bacle in FS: Lomo NAS4-10 2/75mm OCT18/e-mount adapter
Good Evening. I'm in searching for money needed for 4x anamorphic project of mine. And here i am selling my most valuable lens in collection:  LOMO NAS4-10 2/75mm (2x squeeze factor), with rails mount and OCT18/e-mount adapter - 4500 USD
It covers full-frame (not much of lomo anamorphic does this) and that's where its shining in my opinion. Its a nice universal prime for most cases: in terms of hFOV its like 40mm and still have a nice perspective and properties of 2/75. Which it have) I love to use taking lens by itself for photography (girl portrait in attachment), its great unique lens for FF and i had modified anamorphic attachment so it can be quicker to attach and easier to colibrate. Taking lens have 15 bladed aperture (no hard stops).
I shot a lot of lifestyles reportages/promo videos with a7s, some examples shot in 1080p:
    https://vimeo.com/13376337  https://vimeo.com/132940435  (some backstage: https://pp.vk.me/c625420/v625420382/165a8/rPYJsQDX0VE.jpg )
also here some videos without web compression (see vid_gentlemen_life.mp4 for most actual footage - it was shot in 4K with Shogun): http://dropmefiles.com/jvXQ1
80-90% of these materials was shot with that lomo, as i said its very universal.
Housing have some scratches from screws, one of glasses have mark on it (maybe MC mark, dont know for sure, it doesn't affect the image so i dont touch it). Everything else is in great condition. Will give more photos of gear on request if needed.
Payment through paypal. Dont have an ebay account, the only international deal i had done - buying of rectilux cdna from Louis (he's on this forum to)
And here's some interesting fact about Lomo NAS and BAS: NAS have mechanical sync single focus and BAS - singlefocus based on diopter; that's why NAS have some breathing, but way better sharpness. Thats why f2 BAS even dont have that f2: it have lock on f2.8 to compensate soft from additional glasses.

Basically, I have figured out some rules.
Longer lens has less dioptre than shorter lens.  I got help from a friend in optical shop, where has instrument can check the lens.
These are rear lenses of different 2x anamorphic lenses:
        Sphere/Cyliner
    A. +6.00/-6.00
    B. +5.00/-5.00
    C. +4.75/-4.75
    D. +3.50/-3.50
Front lens should be like this:
    E. 0/-13.75
    F. 0/-10.50
Many front lens are too thick, the instrument was unable to check.  Also some front lenses I did not take apart.
For example, if B+F is original 2x lens, then A+F would get about 1.7X, C+F would get 2.2X, and D+F would get 2.7x.

once i had shooting with a7sii, didnt had time to test it so i just set it 'manually' to focal_length_of_taking_lens divided by 2. Did u do the same? Otherwise IBIS to strong for horizontal plane (in my humble understanding of how it works). In my case there was some shots with whobling but not much and i think u get the same amount without any ana.
