Ivanhurba got a reaction from Geoff CB in Sony A6500 or Panasonic GH5...?
dual SD cards with backup; you can't risk a card failure in a wedding. That alone is enough for me but... No risk of overheating, no 30 mins limit, an everlasting battery and the simple reality of having a proper Panasonic battery grip that Sony has never produced for their apsc line. 3600 ISO with a 1.4 lens is more than enough low light for me, if 6400 is mostly clean I won't need anything else. I'm just waiting for the AF-C performance when the need rises, as tracking in a gimbal or a one man band interview that can't always check the focus is the biggest win Sony has over Pana.

Ivanhurba reacted to mercer in Sony A6500 or Panasonic GH5...?
I can guarantee that most of the replies will favor the GH5, but honestly I think the right answer depends on how important cost, sensor size, low light and AF is to your work?
With a $600 price difference the extra money saved with the a6500 can be used to put toward lenses. With the larger sensor, you will have a built in Super 35mm aesthetic and all the bonuses that entails. Between the sensor size and cleaner high ISOs, the a6500 will be better in low light. With the touch screen and PDAF, the a6500 will have better AF.
With all that being said, the GH5 will probably offer a more stable production with less chance of overheating and better rolling shutter. If 4K 60p is important to you, the GH5 will offer that. If you're interested only in 1080p, the future firmware updates will give you lots of great high bitrate, high framerate, All-I options. But if 1080p is all you need, the overheating issues of the a6500 won't be an issue... of course I haven't had an issue with overheating in 4K with my a6500, but I never shoot a clip that is longer than 2-3 minutes at a time... being a wedding videographer, YMMV.

Ivanhurba got a reaction from Pavel Mašek in I need A7s3 !!
I have an actual photo of a Sony engineer testing the A7SIII E.F in beta mode.
Here's a Sony engineer running away from the scene after testing the 4k60p. The battery was short lived and went brightly nuclear shortly after, that's why they call it Elephant's Foot.
Jokes apart (although Chernobyl is no joke), I love, love, love my RX10II but I rather complement it with a GH5 than a small battery, 30 mins limited, tilty screen and who knows what limitations more, one SD card a7siii.

Ivanhurba got a reaction from Antonis in The next Blackmagic Pocket or Micro Camera?
I know it's cinema, but they should cover event people too. And a BMPCC with 60p and a tilty swively screen would be awesome.

Ivanhurba reacted to Bioskop.Inc in Tons of problems with new Macbook Pro
It really looks like Apple haven't just dropped the ball, they've lost it completely.
I was looking forward to the MBP as a replacement for my old iMac, but am now thinking that going over to the darkside (pc) will be a better idea & buying a full copy of Resolve. I'm still holding out for an iMac update, but am starting to really hate the way Apple are operating/treating their customers - it's like they are slowly turning the knife that they've already stuck into you!
If Microsoft can admit that their loathing of Linux was a mistake, why do Apple continue to think that crippling their products is a good business plan?

Ivanhurba reacted to Andrew Reid in O/T Berlin
Thanks for posting. I am safe. My thoughts are with the victims of this atrocity and the similar one in Nice, France earlier this year.
Was at the same Christmas market just a few days ago and it's near my girlfriend's place. I just hope that all of my friends here in Berlin are ok.
The market where it happened is right in the middle of the busiest shopping area of Berlin, in the west side of the city.
The Christmas market would have been packed at this time of year with families and friends after work.
There's a children's merry-go-round there, crafts stores and food, pancakes and mulled wine, German bratwurst, it's a very good natured place full of nice people and my heart goes out to the people killed and injured tonight.

Ivanhurba reacted to Zak Forsman in A "frugal" films thread perhaps?
My production company produced this microbudget feature, shot on the GH4. Only have the :30 teaser available right now. But the feature will be released next year.

I subscribe to your post. Anybody can shot with a RED and make a bad movie so I'd like to see examples of the opposite too.
three minutes of pure cinematic, narrative, acting, conflict gold. I love this film. At least they finished, it's in youtube and has more than half a million views in this iteration. It's humbling. Horrible, fun and humbling.

Ivanhurba reacted to Xavier Plagaro Mussard in Out now: FCP X 10.3
Programs must be used in english. It's a limit that helps everyone!

Ivanhurba reacted to Axel in Out now: FCP X 10.3
Not fixed then. I noticed a few months ago that I couldn't map the 'Magic Keyboard' (german version) to FCP X shortcuts (left bracket, right bracket etc. become Umlaute- äöüß). Wrote to Apple, but there is no solution other than buying a traditional keyboard or use FCP X in english.
The translation to german is flawed. In FCP 7, they didn't translate the important stuff like Browser, Viewer, Canvas, Playhead and Timeline. No one knows what the german word for browser would be anyway. In 10.3, it became worse. Originally, they had translated roles ('Rollen' in german) to Funktionen (functions). Because a term of analog film, reel, translates to Rolle as well. Now they call it Funktion in some places, Rolle in others. Very confusing, particularly for newbies.

Ivanhurba reacted to John Brawley in Dont forget Olympus (em1ii)
It's a major major improvement in video, not just because of the 4K. It's the reduce aliasing too.
The HDMI out is 8 bit 422 however, the image is just a huge leap forward.
Frankly what I've enjoyed most is using it as a stills camera. It handles so beautifully and the AF is insanely fast.
The stills have plenty of punch and are also a noticeable jump in terms of res.
I say that as a fan of the EM1 Mark 1. The Mark 2 is a giant leap forward just in stills mode. Same can be said for the video. I honestly think Olympus have hit one out of the park here. Even if I didn't have my relationship with Olympus I would be buying this camera.
And yes, I'm planning to shoot some video to try and see what we can do with this camera, hopefully in the next few weeks. Let me know if you have any ideas ;-)

Ivanhurba got a reaction from webrunner5 in Dont forget Olympus (em1ii)
10-bit is definitely awesome specially with a real Log, but I'd rather have 60p raw for photo and phase instead of DFD and JPEG until otherwise corrected . My problem with the RX100V is that it makes the Olympus not so insane but you have to buy several cameras if you want to do different stuff. Selfie Vlogging RX100, photo-video a6500, dual card oh-no-crap-the-SD-failed-in-the-ceremony system a99II. I guess people will still complain about the small sensor and bigger DOF but all what Oly is offering in one single camera in contrast with all the money you have to spend with Sony makes Olympus look revolutionary!
I should shut up, I'm pumping up myself
