Nah, just make sure the colour is no good and you'll be fine...  works for Sony!

You only have to use Resolve for color grading, then edit down and transcode the footage out to ProRes HQ.  Then FCPX or PP.
It's not the issue most make it out to be.
Resolve has killer color grading set up that blow FCPX and PP away.   But for editing Resolve is not fast enough for me.
    And I love FCPX.

    Whoah...hang on there you two.
You are doing forums wrong if you agree to agree.
Splitting hairs, clinging on to a semantic rock and repelling all boarders...that is what it is all about.
Now, lets get this back on course and start trading petty insults.

Yeah, I was careful not to add the "but you probably wouldn't want to" so that I could retain the technical win

My experience with ML raw is limited, but Braw is much easier to work with and you can put it straight into the NLE and go. It also has half baked luts, so you have a near perfect SOC file with all the luxuries that come with raw.
Ive also found its less noisy and often more forgiving that ML raw, but like I said my experience with ML is limited and it’s entirely possible I’m doing it wrong.

At the end of the day, in terms of image improvements, we have seen CCD vs CMOS chips, and the supporting microchips and image processing that goes with it that has given us a blackmagic pocket 4k and the soon to come out, zcam 2 full frame camera that can do raw 4k - which is quite amazing.  We've seen low light kings with canon and sony as well.  And we have seen skintone kings with blackmagic and Arri.
So we kind of have reached the peak of what it is possible, for now, in terms of low-light, size, and capability.
What remains, of course, is a beautiful image.  A beautiful colorful rich image..  Well for people like me that still think there is magic shooting on celluloid.  How celluloid  reacts to light  and overexposure, and motion, and tungsten lighting, and all color.  For me I don't think one camera does that yet.  And I would love to see camera makers continue to move this way forward.
There's still room to be done, and there's still hope for a way to capture data that's better than CMOS.
But for now, I don't really see many cameras making that much progress now.  I don't believe in the 4k vs 8k resolution wars. I'm pretty happy with what we have for video
But for still photography, I really don't see too much more progress that can happen to be justified to the average semi-pro and consumer photographer that makes it worth it, as an investment in glass, and having to carry a camera around, vs just using an iphone.  Especially to those to upgrade their existing cameras as Kisha said.
Is the next nikon z7 or z6 going to be that much better than the z6 for stills?  Sure the dream is the ultimate hybrid stills/video camera - and maybe someone will get there so it does 4k raw and pro res and also beautiful raw still images - but yea, where was I going?  I don't remember.  This post of mine was pointless.
Mattius wins again!  I need to allow people to win arguments and move on with my life.  there is more to life than arguing or debating on a message board.    LEICA RULES! CANON DROOLS!

Lately I've been missing Aperture- not for the image processing results but for the workflow and interface. For me its more intuitive and faster than Lightroom. I started looking for Lightroom alternatives and so far I haven't found anything better, but more importantly anything close to what I liked about Aperture. I haven't test-driven everything, though.
Hope there's an alternative or someone makes one leaning towards Aperture design- Lightroom is clunky and slow.

Another quick and dirty demo just so you know that I'm not sat on my arse not getting on with it.
This is brought to you via the medium of a family pack of Golden Wonder crisps and a microwave to illustrate fast snap between points and also continuous refocus as the king of low cost potato snacks approaches and retreats.
It is using an Olympus 17mm f1.8 lens wide open.
There is no ramping set but as with the 3C app this will be an adjustable parameter.
NB. I was not preparing to put the Leica and those pickles in the microwave.

No they don't compare. They are way more suitable for 97% of the situations that the average pro photographer encounters.

    Sony A7S II:

Canon 1D C same shoot, same day, same light, same girl:

Sony A7S II (The Death Cam):

Canon 1D C, 10 seconds later SHE LIVES!

    Sony ZombieCam Mark II:

    Canon 1D C ?

Funnily enough these 1D C JPEGs direct from the card looked much better on one of my Macs compared to the other, so monitor profiles and display settings matter as well.
Although it's not just the camera...
I also agree with the point @Mattias Burling is making about colour in RAWs.
Minimum effort counts for a lot. Who wants to go manually correcting 1000's of RAW files?
    What a fucking ball ache!
Default colour in RAW matters just as much. No matter what software you use, you want to open it and do a few simple changes or preset moods and have it singing.
    Same with video and LOG.
Sony A7 III got a bit better for colour, but I still don't use it much.
The other thing that matters is white balance, and even the lens. Lenses can have different colour biases.
Pro Color exists for a reason I didn't create it on a whim. It solves a real issue with Sony's video processing and I should do the same for their RAW stills as well!
Be honest with yourself... have you used Venice CS? Or are you parroting a second hand experience of it versus Canon? Again same thing with the Nikons... You've got to use them on a subject, then decide.

I do not see red or arri implementing good autofocus. So not sure why blackmagic should. Its a cinema camera, and ibis or autofocus are not on my havetoo shortlist.

The pocket 4k is on place 1 for sure on my list.

What I also don't like is the idea that it's ok for advertisers to bombard us everywhere we go, but we're not allowed to photograph it. So, they can fill our mind-space with their products to make money- but we would not be legally allowed to record it ourselves. That's like a one way street.

It is the same protocol as the Ursa and BMD have already released the documents so there is nothing stopping someone working on products for it now in time to be ready for launch.
It is Bluetooth LE so is much easier to talk to directly from cheap single board computers if someone wants to make a hardware controller.
So you can expect anything from phone apps, basic start/stop triggers to full blown hand grips full of buttons mapped to all controls.
