@Kisaha I think this is the healthiest way to count your losses, whilst looking at the future in a more positive way.
The truth is, there are plenty of NX camera's and glass still in circulation, albeit less than in 2014-2016 and I personally haven't seen a lot of mentions that these products are even close to nearing the end of their build life.
The magnesium build, the OS, the proccesor chip, the sensors, the glass and machinary in the lens systems (which I believe were outsourced and rebranded by a big lens maker) were built pretty robustly. Like I said before, Samsung was definitely trying to put a stake in the ground.
I've owned other Samsung products that were considered mid-range, and as functional as they were they didn't have premium builds by a long shot. Samsung reserves this for their top-tier offerings, say like the recent Galaxy line of smartphones. World class.
    @Juxx989
"I think directly or indirectly the other companies(canon, sony, etc)  made it clear to big reviewers that they would not appreciate coverage of Samsung NX1 and maybe they would forget to send you the next product for review or forget to invite you to the next swanky New York sony event.."
I would venture to say this is most likely a real thing. Even in the cases where the reviewer claims impartiality, you have to remember these companies are sending them free gear in exchange for a favorable outcome. They're not doing it because they like giving away free product to seemingly cool people.
And even if a company does not explicitly imply favor, the reviewer knows that if they give a product a poor enough review, or praise a competitor's brand too much, this could pontentially hurt their chances of receiving more gear from said company in the future. For a lot of top tubers, this is the very backbone of their channel, hence income. When your livelihood is on the line, of course you're going to lie a little. I think most of us would.
The key is not seeming extreme or too obvious with it. And you'll notice that channels that do don't last very long. A "favored" view here, a couple dings on secondary less important features here. This gives the illusion of being impartial and the manufactures chalk it up to the price of doing business, which is still going to be less costly than hiring an advertising agency to drive a full scale marketing campaign.
These manufacturers, including Samsung, are only concerned about brand perception as it relates to sales, not as it relates to trying to give you a quality product because they personally care about you or your own business. No one should be naive about this, and yet consumers wrap up their indentities into these products, and really blind themselves.
The only time this formula is broken is when a CEO or other top executive takes a personal interest or pet liking to a product and wants to share that with the world, which is what many suspect the NX line and more specifically the NX1/500 to have been of the previous CEO, which demographically speaking was more intimate and familiar with "older" tech and reportedly loved photography.
The RED camera was one of these pet projects by the then CEO of Oakley, a popular sunglass/surf/skate brand in the 80's/90's, who again was very fond of videography and wanted to and had the resources to shake up things in the then celluloid dominated film industry. But these are largely outliers. As impactful as they can be, they tend to be very rare as business objectives are not the driving catalyst.

    @Matthew Hartman Yes I know...
It was strange how much value Samsung brought to the table for such a low price and it was ignored..
That bald dude from Camera Labs completely ignored it... Philip Bloom had one still of it and never looked at it again until he was bored 2 years later and did a auto focus test.
I think directly or indirectly the other companies(canon, sony, etc)  made it clear to big reviewers that they would not appreciate coverage of Samsung NX1 and maybe they would forget to send you the next product for review or forget to invite you to the next swanky New York sony event..
I see it like the Tucker cars of last century... They made a Superior car in the 40's they were the fist to have windshield wipers, seat belts, etc standard but all the other companies Ford, GM, conspired to take them down.
Sony defiantly kicked into high gear when they saw the threat... they released like 4 bodies back to back... I think Samsung forced their hand thats why all their cameras have overheat issues because they weren't quite ready yet.
I think we should create some kind of  a bounty for incentive to get us some raw video...
Ive said it before NX-1 can take 28mp RAW photos @ 15fps = 420mb of information a second
If you could some how tell the camera to only record 8mp RAW still(every 4k frame is 8mp) @24 fps = 192mb of information per second
You know the hardware could do it!
EOSHD was pretty much the epicenter of the NX1 buzz/cult... I was just about to drop $900 bucks on a Canon 70D and then Andy dropped the Lisbon video... Doh!
Today only like 6 of us on average post on here weekly. The dream is dead.
    Or is it?

The hack has the killall button and it is usefull, because using it the other parts of the hack (except bitrates) are not using any prosessing resurces. And after using killall you can't open menu before the battery has been out of the camera ( shut camera and after that battery out for few seconds.)
However the Killall function doesn't remain on many days. You have to do it again after day or two. But you start to make it  habbit to check, with double clicking the little lcd light button, that if the killall function is still on or not. Not a big deal.

Juxx989 reacted to Kevin Kwok in Should I buy a Samsung NX1 now May 2017???
Dropped by to say thanks to Andrew Reid and everyone on this sub-forum for generously sharing their knowledge ... and add that I think the NX1 is still very relevant in today's market.

Here's my story, I was looking for a small and light B Cam for a Red Dragon and decided to spend the last month really getting to know the NX1 because I like how close the out-of-camera images look to the Red.  I advocate for not heavily grading DSLR images and trying to get as close to what I can in-camera ... playing to the DSLR's strengths and avoiding its weaknesses, like codec and bit rates.  I shot this with the NX1 and a DJI Mavic as a test, all images are ungraded, straight out of camera and through Premiere's and Youtube's compression ...
    EQUIPMENT USED
. Samsung NX1 with Canon EF 35mm and Samsung NX 16-50mm PZ.
    . Beholder DS1
    . DJI Mavic
    NX1 SETTINGS
    . Vasile hack 180Mbps
    . Master Black Level +10
    . Gamma DR
    . Custom Profile R0.90/G0.92/B1.10, Sharpness-10, Contrast-5
    . Smartrange on
    . DIS on
PS. I had trouble with focusing but have figured out how to assign peaking to the speed dial now, haha, should help.
PPS. the DIS does work well but occasionally does some funky things so I learned that it's important to review the footage carefully.

He he basically said what we all know... NX1 isn't best at anything but very good at everything (but  lowlight).  Seems if he was forced to pick one for all his video+ photo needs. NX is it.

Well hello there EOSHD forum readers,
I've just posted my short film, Axiomatic, to Vimeo.
Shot with an older version of the 5D3 Raw hack without the audio component - remember when we had to reload the Raw modules each time after restarting the camera? Ah well...it still worked flawlessly and I cannot thank all the ML developers enough for what they unlocked. 5D3 raw is simply amazing.
Spanish, French and English subtitles are available for whomever needs them and viewer discretion may be advised as there is brief nudity, violence and coarse language. However I tried to make everything as tasteful as possible.
Hopefully you can take some time out of your busy day to view it and please feel free to share it with any of your friends or contacts that might enjoy some dark Canadian cinema.

The Samsung NX1 is at this moment in time the best value for money 4K Super 35mm camera with the best ergonomics and autofocus.
I still end up using my NX1 more than my Sony A6500 and Fuji X-T20, which pale into insignificance vs what Samsung did nearly 3 years ago.
Now the NX-L speed booster has developed further since my last article and I've been shooting a lot more with it.

Juxx989 reacted to Kisaha in Interesting article (NX lenses mentioning)
It is an interesting article about mirrorless cameras, and a confirmation of my view that one of the major strengths of the NX system were the -not so many, but most quite good- lenses.
"Sony — NEX is history. But so, it appears, is the A5xxx. Really? The crop sensor Sony line is now a series of three cameras each of which is a "stick more sensor tech in it" version of the former? I fail to see how this is a useful strategy. Things that were wrong with the A6000 are still wrong with the A6500 (and A6300 in between). And when all is said and done these cameras seem a lot more GameBoy than anything else on the market. Don't get me wrong, I like them, but...
Note to Sony executives: You're making the same mistake Nikon made with DX, and  Canon made with EF-S and is making with EF-M. Samsung made lenses for their NEX-clone that clearly bettered what you put out. You can put all the tech you want at the sensor, but it's the optics out front that are hurting your image quality, not the sensor. What I'd give for Samsung's 16mm f/2.4, 20mm f/2.8, 30mm f/2, 45mm f/1.8, 60mm f/2.8, and 85mm f/1.4 in a Sony E-mount.  And no, your Sony 16mm, 20mm, 30mm don't even come close."

unfortunately, even someone mentioning the NX system is news for us! It would be interesting if anyone could make a similar evaluation for the NX system in the end of 2017, almost 2018. I see the system being used from some of us until 2020 at least.

this is a trap/troll topic from a well known DPR troll which has been banned multiple times there. He is on my ignore list, so I wouldn't like him to reply straight to me.
my reply goes to Mr Romero.
    1. NX1
    2. Sony a6300/6500 AND latest Fuji (apparently the same sensor)
    3. 4. NX1, plus  -bonus-NX1 is at the top 3 of the least rolling shutter in 1080p. Also NX1 has No crop in high speed options, and Andrew did recently a comparison, giving 7/10 to the NX1 and 5/10 to the Sony.
    5. 6. 7. 8. NX all the way! Can't even stress those differences enough, and I add the better consumption management and with bigger capacity batteries. Ah, full touch screen control with the best menu system/UI/wi if-Bluetooth-NFC in industry (Panasonic is catching up in remote control though)
    9. That is subjective. I have used professionally the NX1 with Ronin gimbals (and AF) with great success. I am planning to buy a Crane soon, split between the V2 or 2.
    10. NX1, plus headphone out.
    11. NX1 has 28mgpxls BSI sensor, and the 12-24 and 10mm fish eye are 2 of my favorite 3 lenses. Sony doesn't have a native fish eye. I haven't used the UWZ. Sony is a great photo camera, but all the rest of the issues (ergonomics mainly, try to use a bigger lens on that one) and this and that would make that a tie, at least.
