  1. Pretty sure filmic will let you record 2 cameras at the same time. You can switch between 4 though.
  2. I don't mind them. Like all our gear, there are different tools for different scenarios. I have used them to monitor an audio recorder wirelessly, used them to pass backup audio to the camera, even used them as a wireless headphone monitoring solution. I only use them as a "main source" over very short distances, but they are so tiny they are handy to have in your kit.
  3. I thought you could only switch them live. Are you sure you can do this in post? That would be impressive.
  4. Looks like a leaked video. Checkout the “forced mobile” mode at about 2.55.
  5. So with no built-in ND filter (and still no filter thread) worse aperture, same bad battery life and same 4k recording limit (I doubt if overheating has improved) and of course no mic jack. Not to mention the price. How is this an improvement for video shooters?
  6. Thanks. I really like the camera but get very pissed off everytime I shoot video with it. Just knowing what it could have been. I doubut Sony will ever add the PP.

    NAB 2018

Wow I will be picking one of theses up I had the photo version and really liked the lens. Just was not great for video. Caleb Pyke mentions them at around 4:15 in this video.
  8. Maybe this is why the left picture profiles off the a9. Saving them for the a9ii. cant stand the look of the BMD, but for that price I’m buying one. I think it’s time for my video camera to just be a video camera. Im kind of sick of stuffing around with Sony alphas for video. And sick of waiting for a7siii. Just wish the pocket had internal nd filter. Cause I’m also sick of carrying around nd filters!
  9. The only thing that makes me think that maybe the a7siii might have somthing good up it’s sleve, is the length of time it’s taking to hit the market. We were expecting it at last NAB in response to the gh5. Hopefully, the longer it takes the better it will be. The fs5 strategy is a bit weird. It would be interesting to know if any hardware has changed at all. Maybe this is Sony’s way of getting out of firmware updates. Just release a new model. It’s seems to work with the consumer line so maybe the pro line are following suit. Im still waiting for PP on the a9. Dont think it’s going to happen. I wish Sony were more open with there users. Like the a9. If you never plan to put PP on the camera, just come out and say it.

    NAB 2018

I have seen the fs700 quite cheap around Australia lately. Might be time to pick one up and pair with the new ninja. Wonder what high frame rates it will support?
  11. I would use 5 inch or even a no screen recorder. Shoot through evf and have a small foot print recorder rather that big, bulky, thing with 2 big batteries that get it the way. Depends on what you are shooting I guess.
  12. Here is some test footage of some dude running. There is no bob up and down. Does it have post stablization added as well? its so smooth. I can’t believe it’s real. Top one must be bullshit. This is more like it.
  13. If it really is that far away it’s got to be good right?
  14. Some of the physical differences. a7riii/a9 has better evf a7riii/a9 has a better screen. A7iii 920 000 dots / a7riii has 1440 000 dots This is probably the reason battery lasts longer on A7III a7iii has a plastic back plate on the camera and not magnesium like a7riii/a9. This may have an effect on heat. Lesser memory in the the a7iii and maybe different cpu but this is not confirmed. apprantly a7iii is rated for 200k actuations and 500k on a7riii. But I have not found a reliable source of info on that. They could be using an older shutter and maybe this is why there is no pixel shift feature. I did not see any claims one ibis either?
  15. SonySPAMrumors are often of the mark. Like when a7siii was ranked highest in there stupid ranking system last year. Then we got the riii instead. Pretty sure I have enough cookies to open a bakery after I visit that site!
  16. I’ve been hoping for this for years. It’s one of the reasons I never went for the fs5. Would be an awesome setup. im thinking more along the lines of a refresh rather than a big update on the fs5. There is some shitty parts on the fs5 and maybe they update the mount like on the fs7. I’m thinking that if they do something like the a9s it would be priced similar to the fs5 to protect the pro video line. They might go 10 bit in the a7siii but I can’t see it having better features than the fs5 unless the price is raised. Im sick of waiting for it and hope that it lives up to the hype.
  17. I have no evidence to back this up. I’m expecting a few new models. A7sii and maybe a9s. We must also be due for a new fs5.
  18. Looks like Sigma are also offering a conversion service to convert your current lenses in a different mount to emount. Not sure on pricing of the conversions.
  19. AHHHH! I bought the a9 2 weeks ago. The a7iii does better video! I did get the a9 new for cheaper than an a7riii though so can't complain too much. This just killed the resale value of the a7rii. And the price was already falling. I have see the a7rii price drop down to 1500 usd used in Australia.
  20. Playing with the new FCP tools. Jpg came out a little bit darker than I am seeing in FCP. I'm loving the new Hue/Sat tools in FCP 10.4.
  21. Just picked one up for a great price. Wanted it for sports photography mainly. But happy to use it for video and see how it holds up. Should be fine for the crappie YouTube stuff I do. Still desperately waiting for th a7siii though.
  22. i have been holding back buying the riii. (Still own rii). A9 would be great for me (With PP) as it would be very capable stills and video. Kind of 2 bodies in one. A7siii will need to have 4k60 and great slow mo for me. Hopefully a bump in slow mo frame rate. sony don’t have a great track record of adding features in firmware updates on the consumer side. But the a9 is supposed to be a “pro” camera. Think we will know more once A7sIII is released. It’s killing me though, I have had the money to put down on a new camera for 6 months.
  23. Thought this might be useful for Sony users. For ages I have been trying to find away to import and view XAVC files on my iPad Pro. (12.9 gen 2). Ipad always cried about USB power and would not work. I have tried complicated methods and failed, but here’s one that works for me. Maybe the latest iOS update has bought support as well. 1. Set USB Connection to MTP 2. Set USB power supply to OFF. He does not make it clear in the video, but the pinnacle studio app is apparently required as it supports XAVC. Once imported I can view the files in the iPad photos app and also edit them in LumaFusion. I have tried this on the iPhone 8 as well and it works without the pinnacle app or LumaFusion. I dont need to carry the old 15inch MBP to view XAVC anymore! although they do take forever to import. Wonder in the USB 3 on the a7riii would be quicker?
  24. I really enjoy Harv’s Channel. Some good tips delivered well. Many of his audio tips have made life easier. I’m looking forward to the pro colour update. Now just need A7sIII to use it on.
  25. It would make it bigger and more expensive, but I assume you could use the xlr capsule adaptor that’s available for the h6
