  1. Dam... Not enough bad things there to scare me away. I have started clearing the decks to buy this with a few sales today. I have been using the OSMO with the x3 and as crappy as the image is i have been using it a lot just because its so convenient over calibrating the pilot fly h1+ handheld.
  2. Bought the osmo for live (or next to live) events stuff. The intagration to the phone makes it very quick to get a short clip up to the intawebs. Must admit I was not expecting much. But now I grab it before I grab my handheld gimbal a7sii combo. still a bit buggy and the handle feels like a kids toy from the $2 shop. But really looking forward to seeing were this goes. X5 raw once the bugs are ironed out and the price comes down might find its way into my kit.
  3. I often need a polariser shooting over water and I hate stacking it on top of an ND. I bought the ND throttle to avoid this and so far love it. The only downside is I have a lot of Sony native glass and not many manual ef lenses yet! i also have the xume gear and find unless you have heaps of them at different sizes to adapt all your lenses it's still a pain in the ass. Gets expensive too. Almost all my shooting is outdoors so always needing filters.
  4. I want to see a slim doc with power so I can use my iPhone as a monitor and or evf attachment. Can't see why this is so hard but if must be. The closest thing I've seen is the Manfrotto iPad thing which does not quite cut it!
  5. I hope I'm around when that day comes! it's a $1000 camera that's pushing the boundaries of what's possible. When you do that things are never perfect across the board. If they toke the canon approach we would not see this camera for at least another two years. I think we need both approaches to service many different needs.
  6. I am doing a test right now and it just lasted 30mins record limit and i hit record again straight away. Lets see how far it gets. No heating messages yet. Its sitting on my desk on my in my camera cage with the battery door open and screen popped out. It has native glass on not with built in OSS (sony 55 f1.8) Set on 4k 25fps with AF-C with no picture profile selected. 100mb 8mins in to the (38 mins in total) so far and still looking ok. The battery is slightly warm but was expecting much worse. I know its different out in the field / sun etc but so far this is more than i need. Wonder if adaptors / OSS lens heats it up? Will report back soon after it has over heated. Update: at 39 mins over heat icon flashed up. Got another 10 mins out of it after that. So 49mins in total. Popped the battery out and its warm but would not say overly hot. Ive switched in another battery and hit record so lets see how long that lasts. Update 2: With the new battery inserted i got 15mins before overheat icon appeared. It lasted to 23.30 min before shutting down. So with 2 batteries i got 38 mins on the first and 23 mins on the second with about 45 seconds in between.
  7. I bought mine for stills and as a B cam for A7sii. Have not played too much with video yet but I'm impressed by the fast focus hi frame rate stills mode. Video testing today.
  8. there's still time its not Jan 2017 yet
  9. as is the Olympus image compared to the a7sii :)
  10. I love mine. I had an lx100 as well but the rx fits in the pocket a little better. You will need a bunch of extra batteries as it chews through them especially if you using the Hfr modes. Pretty cool stills as well and the panorama mode works pretty well but in that mode it's jpeg.
  11. I have used the rx100 on the pilot fly and love that combo. So much easier to balance and I was happy with the results. I had not had time to test it so I used auto focus and was prepared to throw away the footage if it did not work as it was b-roll nice to have stuff. As it turns out it worked really well. although next time I will use manual focus as I think I got lucky!
  12. Thanks for the info. Was wondering why i could not really find adapters etc.
  13. Hi All, Just picked up and A7sii and I'm very excited to start shooting. I have come from M43 and have many lenses in that format. Im selling my GH4 but i might keep the OMD5 Mark ii for photo work as i really like shooting photos on that camera. Im going to buy a few native Sony FE lenses for everyday shooting and a few manual lenses for more specialist work. To fund the new lenses i need to see my M43 lenses. Does anyone have experience with shooting FE lens on M43? I know its probably not as fast focus wise as say using the Oly 12-40 pro lens but is it acceptable? Thanks for your help.

    z camera e1

They are still on beta firmware 0.2.1 and firmware updates are Coming almost weekly. Not sure how b&h can offer this thing for sale until it at least has a 1.0 working firmware.

    z camera e1

Half baked firmware and still lots of issues. Might end up being ok but not there yet.
  16. Actually it's the external grip that has the head phone jack. And you need that before you can even attach the battery grip.
  17. Hi All, I recently picked up and rx100iv and so far love this little beast. I want to use this camera for a shoot in a couple of days. I'm not used to the Sony settings and picture profiles yet and have not had time to test it all out. Ideally i would just shoot in Slog2 but its going to be a very sunny day and based on my limited testing so far IOS 1600 and the internal ND won't quite cut it and I'm still waiting for my MAG filter adapter thing to arrive to use additional ND filters. I will be matching the footage with a GH4 and i don't think i will use vlog and i have not had time to test that out either. So i will probably use the EOSHD GH4 settings / LUT as i really like that look. I do have some limited time to test tomorrow and plan on doing some camera matching tests. So my question is taking the above into account what would be a good place to start profile wise?
  18. It's a shame. They are on to somithing with this camera. They just don't quite have the expertise in video to pull it off. I think the em1 mark 2 will probably have 4K but by the time that comes out I think I may have moved on to Sony
  19. I've installed but have not had a chane to play yet. It does not look very flat and looks similar to the custom profile I use on the camera. And still no dial manual control whilst filming! With all its short comings I enjoy using the camera and was hoping the firmware might have pushed it further into the keep coloum.
  20. some good tips over at cheesycam on how to build a cheap vest set up. http://cheesycam.com/build-a-diy-gimbal-support-stabilizer-for-under-100/
  21. You can pick the screws up from China. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5x-Knob-Rotating-M4-17mm-Thumb-Screws-fr-15mm-Rod-Clamp-Base-plate-DSLR-Rig-/171881965607?hash=item2804f6a827%3Ag%3AEooAAOSw2VJVfqUN You will need to cut them down to fit and you will need lots little spring washers on at least one of the screws to to pack it out of the channel so that tit clears past the motor Yeah with the LX100 its pretty much no time at all once you have learned how to balance the camera. Even if you don't have it quite balanced its so light that the gimbal still works as expected although the better its balanced the more efficient battery life will be. I think the lighter weight on the handheld works really well. The LX screen is a bit of a pain and sometimes i have streamed to the iPhone to use as a screen. Its not ideal but works and he lag on the app is not to bad. I have started using it with an RX100 iv. The tilt screen on that has been very handy.
  22. I picked one of these up a few days ago. I was expecting the worst menu system ever but its not that bad. Try the Olympus menu and then you will love the sony. How do you find the built in ND? For me it does not really help if you are in slog2 on bright sunny days.
  23. I have the pilotfly h1+ and its pretty good. Like manueldomes says above there is quite a bit to learn when dialling it in. My experience with there customer support has also been A+. I have used it with a GH4 and 12-40 oly lens and that is really pushing its limits. It works but you dont have a huge range of movement without getting the odd glitch. Most of the time i have used the lx100 on it which is awesome as you have the zoom without having to rebalance the camera. I have also started using the x100 iv on it as well which is even better again as its a little lighter and you really can get a wide range of motion. You can get away with the pilotfly and a bigger bodied mirrorless but if you plan to use the gimbal a lot and need to nail the shots i would go for the ronin-m. Although heavier there seems to be less walking bob with the bigger 2 handed gimbals from what i have seen. I did build a rig for mine to use it 2 handed which worked well but kind of defeats the purpose of having a smaller gimbal that you can transport around. I upgraded mine so it has a tooless setup. I can now balance the camera very quickly after much practice. What ever you choose tooless makes things much easier. Oh and i briefly had a Moza Lite. Don't bother with that one unless you like endless support issues!
