  1. Just picked one up for a great price. Wanted it for sports photography mainly. But happy to use it for video and see how it holds up. Should be fine for the crappie YouTube stuff I do. Still desperately waiting for th a7siii though.
  2. i have been holding back buying the riii. (Still own rii). A9 would be great for me (With PP) as it would be very capable stills and video. Kind of 2 bodies in one. A7siii will need to have 4k60 and great slow mo for me. Hopefully a bump in slow mo frame rate. sony don’t have a great track record of adding features in firmware updates on the consumer side. But the a9 is supposed to be a “pro” camera. Think we will know more once A7sIII is released. It’s killing me though, I have had the money to put down on a new camera for 6 months.
  3. Thought this might be useful for Sony users. For ages I have been trying to find away to import and view XAVC files on my iPad Pro. (12.9 gen 2). Ipad always cried about USB power and would not work. I have tried complicated methods and failed, but here’s one that works for me. Maybe the latest iOS update has bought support as well. 1. Set USB Connection to MTP 2. Set USB power supply to OFF. He does not make it clear in the video, but the pinnacle studio app is apparently required as it supports XAVC. Once imported I can view the files in the iPad photos app and also edit them in LumaFusion. I have tried this on the iPhone 8 as well and it works without the pinnacle app or LumaFusion. I dont need to carry the old 15inch MBP to view XAVC anymore! although they do take forever to import. Wonder in the USB 3 on the a7riii would be quicker?
  4. I really enjoy Harv’s Channel. Some good tips delivered well. Many of his audio tips have made life easier. I’m looking forward to the pro colour update. Now just need A7sIII to use it on.
  5. It would make it bigger and more expensive, but I assume you could use the xlr capsule adaptor that’s available for the h6
  6. From memory they recommend 1/250 shutter when using steadyxp. The claim that gives the best results. That would rule it out for many here.
  7. Moza have awful support. I bought the moza lite a couple of years ago and it was a total disaster. If the DJI one works I will probably buy it.
  8. Looks good. It’s about time the entered the space. Wonder if the will integrate the crystal sky monitor with it.
  9. I shoot with the a9 for photos and quickly shot some video at night out side of the camera shop I hired it from. I was impressed with the image. It’s such a shame that the best image they have is a stills camera that has crippled video features. I hope the give this thing PP after they release a7siii. Second hand in Australia I have seen the a9 for cheaper than the a7riii.
  10. Go Fuji. This is something Sony would not ever do with the a7 series. Cant even get the my menu update.
  11. I have really enjoyed the manual clutch thing on the Olympus lenses when I was shooting m43. The lenses feel solid and well built. I miss them. Wish some other manufactures would implement that feature on their lenses.
  12. If Sony only had 64 couolrs would 58 of them be different shades of green/yellow?
  13. Wow. Price in Australia is $4900 (just under 3800 usd)
  14. I cant help but think that an a9r might be on the way once the a7riii is selling well.
  15. So close to pulling the trigger on gh5 now. Some good stuff there but not enough to pick this over the gh5 for video. A7siii when?

@jonpais Do you have a theory as to why these are not more popular? I have not seen too many negatives. I have picked up a 25 and 50 at auction for super cheap. I checked the serials before bidding to see if they are from the stolen ones and they're not so it was the bargain of the century. I'm super impressed with the build quality.
  17. There has been a little panic selling here. I picked up a 6 months old A7rii for $2100 AU (about 1650 USD). Came with the receipt and he paid $3800. Asked him why so cheap. He said he did not want to get stuck with it when the new model comes out. I said, thank you very much.
  18. My camera store has these in stock now, so I thought I would have a play. The first thing you notice is the diameter of the grip. I don't have huge hands but they are not small either, and I found it almost too wide to hold. I like the feel of the old one much better. Its rated at a bigger payload so I suppose it's going to be bigger. Honestly, i think its too big for one hand gimbal work, which in my mind defeats the purpose of the one-handed gimbals. Will be sticking with the old crane for now.
  19. Interesting. I’m not sold on the focus wheel. Might be alright on the gh5 as you can see the screen flipped out to the side. The screen on my a7sii is not that great for manual focus. Miss a few shots when I use it without external monitor. And putting an external monitor on a single hand gimbal is not that appealing to me. Keen to see if it works though.
  20. So you finally got hold of an a7rii (sort of). Do you think you will keep the rx1 for a while? im keen to see what the next one offers. I don’t think Sony has found a way to deal with the heat that 4K generates yet. So not expecting huge video features in the next model. But some would be nice. Does the original a7s shoot in s35? I want a b-cam but hate the ergonomics of the a6xx series of cameras.
  21. I am selling my a7sii in Australia. Have it listed for 2750. The best offer I have had so far is 2400. @noone if you are located in Sydney you should buy this guys kit - https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/manly/other-cameras/sony-a7rii-a6500-photography-and-filmmaker-kit/1162466030 insane value. You could sell most of the stuff and get a camera for free. I tried to buy it but he won’t post.
  22. I put an a6300 up for sale in my area. Paid $1649 Austrlian dollars and getting offers under half that. It’s still has a great image and thinking I might keep it.
  23. The new model of Sony normally is always more expensive starting list price than the last model. So if the a7sii listed at $3000 i would expect the new model to be more. They also try and protect the pricing on the old model as well. I have found that prices drop just before a new release then return to normal once the new product is announced. At least that’s what seems to happen in Australia. Hope I’m wrong and its priced like the old model. But gut feeling is its going to hurt the wallet big time.
  24. @markr041 Whats the work flow like to change between different frame rates on the camera and Inferno. Do you have to dive into menus on both or can use set shortcuts?
