Will panasonix fix the focus magnifier glass while recording? And also include the possibility to decrease the sharpness more? Or are there any olpf filters coming?

I have a dongle, and find it pretty simple, just plug and play. But I think you cannot buy any dongles anymore(new that is).

I have a ryzen 1700x, gtx 1080 and 16gb ddr4 ram with some ssd disks. I edit mostly on davinci resolve. Does the m1 outperform my build. Never had any problems with prores or braw. But now these new dslrs all shoot h265, and I own a s5(havent edited any s5 footage yet? And should I replace my ryzen build with the mac mini m1 for video editing? Thanks

The blue flares dont do it for me, neither does the 1.3 stretch. I have been waiting for years for a new anamorphic player, but it just doesnt seem to happen. I had a kowa bell and howell and slr magic anamorphot. But I guess the next step up is huge pricewise to 10k for 1 atlas orion lens. Which is a lot of money + they are huge(but I guess all cinema anamorphics are)

Great topic! For me its an neverending ongoing process. The usage of natural light by lubezki, unnatural light usage by Darius Khondji. Found it also interesting that they filmed "call me by your name" with a single lens, not that the movie looked that spectacular, but it was a great film(due to the performances). Lately I was massively inspired by the visual style of the safdie brothers. The use of long tele lenses for basicly everything. But it isnt really that easy shooting that way where I live where spaces are quite small and tight (and dont have the funds for decent anamorphics, which offc would help)

Yeah for the clar 350 I would rather get the amaran 200, but the clar 500 is a lot cheaper then the 600d or the nanlite 500.

What about the clar 500? I dont seem to be able to find any review for it.

Gvm doesnt seem to have bowens s lights. I want something powerfull where I can place a lot of multipliers on. Spotlight, fresnel, softbox, striplight. And godox is missing the effects on their lights that nanlite and aputure are offering.

I have no use for a reflector, but will use the light dome or fresnell or the aputure spotlight. Too bad these lights arent available, so there could be a comparison video. Gaffer and gear is great, but I guess he wont upload before 2021. And I honestly dont get companies that release stuff in the beginning of the year when everybody needs to buy stuff for tax writeoff. So has anybody any insights what the best lights are price/quality. As going by specs, it might not be the best idea.

I think the panasonic s5 is the best price/quality hybrid atm.

But there are only a handfull watchable netflix original films. Only "the irishman" and "the devil all the time" come to mind. So if we become reliable to only netflix original content we might be in trouble. Hbo for instance isnt even available over here in Belgium. Most netflix content looks like easy consumable content for netflix and chill and you forget what you watched after a day.

Gotta say, I hope they all got fined for not wearing any masks. Pretty weird sight for 2020.

What impact did closing the video rental shops have on movies? 20 years ago I would rent about 5 movies a week. Suddenly all video rental businesses closed up shop because TV line companies were offering renting out movies over digital TV boxes. (Since then only rented about 5 movies in 20 years, it really took out the experience for me)

Def could live without all those movies, but the shit netflix is producing is even worse. I def see value in the fact that cinema plays movies at a certain time. There is no pauze, everybody needs to be quiet, so the movie has your full attention. While at home there are thousand distractions (please pauze I need to go to the bathroom or I need a snack, oh I forgot to start the dishwasser, smartphones, kids, friends/wife/kids start talking when bored, or commenting and the list continues)

So finally received the sigma mc 21, so I took the s5 out of the box. I set up shutter angle, everything in V-log. mov c4K 25fps to C1, mov C4K 50fps to C2. - About V-log: do you guys all shoot in V-log, are do you create a custom profile with contrast and noise reduction down? Looks like I get quite a bit of grain in V-log (coming from blackmagic film log) - I left stabilization on default with IS boost on a fn button to toggle between those if needed. On screen it isnt that clear to me what mode is on the body sign is default I guess and the same symbol without "body" is the IS boost I guess. - But I noticed you can only access the high speed stuff on the S&Q dial. I see the options are very limited mp4 1080p 8bit. But does quality go down the higher the framerate? What is the max setting you would use? Looks like 150fps is the fastest full frame option. So I guess I stick with that. - Did not test any of the AF functions that much yet, but what settings work best? - I often shoot manual lenses, but double tapping the screen is a bit annoying for getting the magnifier glass for checking focus, is there a other option where it turns on with a fn button or while focussing? I might have missed it, but he did not state what codec these video files were right? If it was prores or RAW or any other decent codec it doesnt really matter, I can edit fluently 4K with playback on all my hardware. But what about H265 422 files is the ryzen still faster?
