That is of course meant by the notion of authorities, that the scammed either decide to use legal procedure and involve police and
authorities of the legal system or to find another way of dealing with the matter and the doer of the scam, who and how many and
under what photographic appearance he/she/they might be.

So, its up to the scammed victims to decide within the legal boundries and/or  their will and successful
ability to negotiate with the scamming person(s).
It is NOT up to anybody else on this forum to initiate  web2.0 contacts of the person believed to have the alias of EbarhimS.

And this is not only about the scam victims nor the scammer.
This is Andrew´s forum, not anybodys communicational infrastructure to planning out a web2.0 campaign.

I´m with you on that big time, dhessel!
@andy lee, if you feel to drop a line on this, maybe you can find the time to do so.
I have been promoting the idea of leaving it to authorities before. I do not feel like screaming it through
the vast number of posts. It is not a pleasure I want to learn to find.
Anyway, leaving it to the authorities is the legally right procedure in this regards matter, involving
the account ES, the scam victims, the forum posters and not least of all Andrew!
Andrew suggested that as well to leave it to authorities!

Hey, Bought my AF100 a few mounts ago.
Just finished rigging it. And just got a used Atomos Samurai (not the blade version).
The AF100 is a tricky camera. It is easy to use, but you have to master the settings to get the best image out of it. I cannon recommend enough the AF100 book.
The package I got was AF100 + Panasonic 7-14/4 + Panasonic 14-140/4-5.6 + 2 batteries and a dead cheap SD Card (which is now stuck in the SD slot) for 1300€
The best thing about this camera is that it is ready to shoot run & gun. No need for external power, recorders or rig for handheld stuff.

You are so very right, man! You guys, hold your actions on behalf of Andrew! His platform is not the place to organize collective acts as suggested on this page of the thread.
It is Andrew´s place, not anybody elses forum to plan out activities against internet criminals!
Andrew is working hard on filming, he cannot chim in at the moment, so let´s respect that and behave in consequence of that like guests in his house,
not like operators of large scale web2.0 operations.
If people wish to do so, they should use their own communication channels.
@andy lee Do you follow my logic above?

Though I´d leave that to the authorities as well!!!

The AF100 with an external recorder was the a-camera on The Raid: Redemption, an absolutely kick ass movie I don't recall a single person critiquing for its visuals.
Learn your way around it and you'll be fine.

This is a very good point, it is a shame that Andrew has not been able to be more involved in this from the beginning. I personally have no intention participating in what is coming, it is not something that is in my nature or that I necessarily agree with, this is sound advice for anyone thinking about going along with Ed's plan.

Not to put a downer on all this, but shouldn't you guys move off/away from this forum?
This is Andrew's forum/blog, after all & he might not take too kindly to all of this.
Remember that you might be dragging his name down with yours & this scammer.
Have any of you checked to see what he thinks or what steps he is taking? Might be worth doing, before you rush headlong down this route.
Just saying, because in the past he was quite quick to ban people for a lot less that what this kid has done & what you are doing.

PannySVHS reacted to tweak in Cameras With 4:3 Anamorphic Mode?
Yes that is one of the effects of Anamorphic, how it renders the OOF areas is a little different to a regular lens and also the distortion adds to this effect.

It stretches the whole image horizontally (in this case 2x), it's supposed to be the same across the image, but due to the nature of an adapter lens I think sometimes it's not 100% uniform across the image (can be a little more at the sides if you shoot super wide like this maybe).

This grading was pretty bad, I didn't really know what I was doing (still don't really).

The 4:3 mode on GH4 actually gives you more sensor height than in the 16:9 mode, it's pretty cool, 1:1 mode gives you even more height again.

Do you need 4K? Do you need slow motion (beyond 1080 60fps that is)?

No? If so, then get a Sony PMW-F3. Goes for next to nothing secondhand. I own one, will be shooting a feature film this year with it (hopefully with two at once if we can squeeze buying a 2nd F3 into the budget).

Get these lenses (all in Nikon F mount of course):
    Tokina 11-20mm f2.8
    Tokina 28-70mm f2.8
    Tokina 80-200mm f2.8
    Nikon 50mm f1.8D
(could swap out for the Sigma 18-35mm f.18 & Sigma 50-100mm f1.8 pair, but would cost quite a lot more, but either choice is reasonable)

You might think you've got plenty left in your $8K budget... but with tripod/recorder/media/accessories/audio/lighting/etc... that will very quickly disappear!

If you do "need" 4K or slow motion, then get a secondhand Sony FS700 instead.

Third camera I'll mention to consider, is the BMD Micro Cinema Camera, is a wonderful little beast (like a BMPCC v2.0!).

Don´t know, might be a tiny bit of wishful thinking involved, nah, GX80 looked great. At 3.50 ungraded it looked the best to me, maybe because of WB or different different light.
At the beginning you underexposed the GX80 a lot. To protect the highlights? How many stops did you push it in post? Seems like the lower mids and the darks are affected by strong macroblocks and lack of shades in the darkest parts. Great informative test, even more if you have a chance to give a few background infos about the technicalities of your test. Great vid and work. Thank you.
Oh, maybe you should put this vid up in a separate thread, so it gets the attention and discussion the topic is worth of!
Maybe in the GX80 thread as well.
    Cheers

Guys. A few deep breaths might be helpful. Believe me, I am as angry as anyone here and I want to be compensated. Ebrahim has committed himself to do something about that in the coming day, and providing evidence of it. We shall see about that quickly enough.
Regardless, there is the issue of proportionality one how one should respond, certainly if you're not directly affected. Who decides what the 'punishment' should be and who should deliver it? I think @dhessel made some similar remarks. I feel this community (and it's administrators) can decide how to deal with the situation here. Whether that means a ban or keeping this thread on the site can be debated.
Reaching out to a large pool of strangers (Ebrahim's contacts) and dragging them into this mess might be a bit much at this point, though. But that's just my 2 cents ... (or actually $275...blegh).

    Hey Fuzzy,
what kinda system did you set up? Isn´t the GX7 pretty thick for a consumer 8bit codec already? Asking, because Panny G6 most definately is a pleasing experience to me in that regard. Or is it Resolve seeming to do wonders?
    cheers

    Hey Liam,
alway loving cheap solutions. So much enjoyment out of the fact to get great results with such cute consumer tech, if one knows what he does.
Just felt like responding, sorry, this scamming post is really not an amusing matter, but lowfi tech talk really is. Cheers!
    Oh Dude,
happy to see you in the pleasure zone of EOSHD again!:)
What you crazy, first selling that G7- so no more 8bit challtenges anymore, now getting rid off the BMMCC.
XC10, wow, cool! I think I gonna rent one and grading the heck out of it!
Good to feel this gear related exitement in this post!
I will be shooting a short with lighting team and one camera assistent in a theater either end of August of September.
September would be better, cuz director wants to change the script and hasnt done any casting yet. Crazy film people:)

Indeed, one of the brightest posts over here as same as this last one from Lee Kelly. Scammer's fault to begin with, anyway. He also had the chance to not enroll himself in more nonsense and he was very sloppy against himself. Reason why I think this community should have been more alert to make the right choices. It hasn't helped him at all. Neither lack of mercy on his confession. Innocents? Where are they??

I hope i am wrong again, however anyone thinking they are getting their money back is tripping. This is way deeper than we think.
No 19yr old would bother with all this creation of accounts and characters etc. Why invent some grandfather who is the guru of cinema blah blah blah why not just claim yourself as the all knowing? Oh wow kid, your 'grandfather' knows camera, where does that get YOU in life? Nowhere. What is to gain from fabricating a person that is not yourself, they get all the kudos and youre just the kid.
As others have said, get your iphone or similar and post a video of yourself (and the grandfather for shits and giggles) and explain the whole thing that way. As it stands for now, its not hard to invent a FB or IG account with photos and 'friends' etc in fact that is the simplest thing in the world to do! My dog has an IG account.
Collecting money from WU under the name ES is a little trickier however, there is no reason that this isnt as popular as 'John Smith' in Egypt. Hell, if this is deeper than we think, the REAL ES may be a completely unknown victim of ID theft and not even remotely associated with this forum, cameras, or anything. ID theft is a huge problem around the world and seemily easy for plenty of people from developing nations to specialise in.
Ed obviously feels he did wrong but I dont think you did wrong at all. If you did this to me (or my dog) and I was innocent, my friends and family who ACTUALLY know me would know within seconds that this was not true. I wouldnt even bother defending the charges.
I think you missed the point. Well done.

I agree, it doesn't look good for him at all but what gives you the right to be judge, jury and executioner? I get what you are saying about moving fast before he can react but you also run the risk of crucifying an innocent victim too.
Really this should have all been handled by Andrew, the victims, ES and what ever 3rd party enforcement required. It is too bad that Andrew was not arround to step in earlier.

PannySVHS reacted to BrooklynDan in NO!!! Digital Bolex has stopped making cameras!
The difference between the Bolex H16 and the D-Bolex is that the original one utilized a form-follows-function philosophy, while the Digital Bolex was the opposite. The Bolex looked that way for a reason, and I believe that it is one of the most elegant cameras ever made. Everything on it has a purpose, and they were a joy to use. I spent many hours with one in my hand back in school, and I never stopped getting a kick out of loading Ektachrome in broad daylight, and winding up that crank.
The Digital Bolex was just weird. I loved the image that came out of it. It certainly looked the shit. But how do you handle it? That tear-drop shape has no logic to it, you had to get an external viewfinder just to put it to your eye the way Bolexes were meant to be used, and didn't anybody learn from the FS100 that having a built-in monitor on top of the camera is pointless? And a built-in hard drive? What happen if it fails? You don't want to know how many memory cards I have to toss away at work. Outside of professional media like Codex drives or Sony SxS cards, it's a very touch-and-go situation. The off-the-shelf SSDs are not reliable enough in my opinion, which is why Convergent Design builds their own, and why I want to smash these Atomos recorders on the floor along with they're Samsung SSDs which were built for laptops, not cameras.
I think that there is room in the market for a retro-style 16mm digital camera. But it will need a much more functional design, and a lower price tag. Something like a Super 8 camera crossed with a Handycam.
That said, I wished that they would have gotten to release a super 35mm camera. Maybe one inspired by the Eclair Cameflex, another timeless camera design. A Digital Cameflex if you will. Complete with Kinoptik-styled prime lenses and a Franscope anamorphic adapter. Now that's a camera I would pay the going rate for.
    C'est la vie.

Although I haven't done this myself, I believe @Andrew Reid mentioned it in his preliminary review of the GX80. This is what he said:
"But there’s more… the camera’s new processor can record 4K to the SD card internally at 100Mbit/s AS WELL AS outputting the full 4K 422 feed to an external recorder for high bitrate ProRes at the same time. "
    So yes it does.
It looks as though you're getting some really good colors with Davinci indeed... the greens are fantastic! Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience (or time) with it to say what a GX80 signal would produce... my impression is that you're 16 and 960 refer to a luma range... I thought it would appear at 0-255 on the GX80, but I'm not sure.
I've seen this myself, but why would 8-bit Log files exist? All them have saturation and contrast increases after applying a LUT... videographers use them all the time for serious projects. Is it "o.k." with 8-bit Log, but not with non-log? I still find there's quite a bit of color in a sat = -5 GX80 file, sometimes I'd say it looks closer to what I saw.

Well, guys, I think, what me, Ed, mercer, Zach, Ebrahim and a lot of us have in common here on Eoshd is the enjoyment of community, encouragement.
Even if I might learn some wrong stuff once in a while regarding the technicalities of codec, exposure, resolution vs sharpness, etc., as long as it can
engage us to do filming, it´s an achievement in itself already. Most of us seem to succeed in that regard.
There are plenty of well shot pieces in the screening area of this forum. Would be cool, if the forums "usability feng shui" would lurk us more

The big thing i also learned is yes...dont trust always what people tell you. You have to really trust your own eyes.
Cml... cinematography mailing list and cinematography.com and american cinematographer have real dps telling you what they do.
Colorist forums like liftgammagain also the same.
Dslr forums and dvxuser and reduser dont have as many working professionals. So take what they say with a grain of salt.
You can trust certain peoples opinions and sometimes not.
Like a dp i really respected lead me down a rabbits hole.
So trust your gut and always do your own tests!! My own tests are many times flawed.
So of course as most of you know...never trust what my likes or taste are either.  I am a weirdo.
