  1. What are the advantages to a GX800 or GX85 other than price difference? 60mbps is low for h264 UHD. I don´t know why I find this cubic form factor appealing, just like the blackmagic micro cinema and micro studio cameras.
  2. @Laurier I think, that GH5 could well be the champ of DSLMs. For 1500 -1700 it is a heck of a deal. Video below was shot in REC709 mode and regular 8bit HD, 800 ISO with F-stop at 2.8 for light gathering and F4 for dof.

@kidzrevil Hey, we want motion Anyway, you´re getting some nice ooc results with these lenses.
  4. "The Middle Path" A ***** **** Short", I count five starts followed by four stars. Making a five letter and four letter term? "A Lumix GH5S Short" then? GH5S, what could that be?:)

At least person didn´t express the appreciation adequately.
  6. Hallo, question is, if BM Assist offers 444. Odyssey 7 or 7+ might offer that. Not sure about the BM. cheers

You are anonim and stepping out of the shadow. I don´t believe your assumption about color. You mean the exact opposite. You are indeed impressed. The structure of your last three posts does not lie.
  8. Thank you very much, Jon! It´s the same basement as my Lumix G6 concept short. I think G6 held up pretty nicely for web delivery.
  9. Here is a trailer for my shortfilm I shot end of summer. It´s shot with the GH5 in 8bit 100mbps with natural profile. So should be similar to what a G85 can deliver if using its UHD mode. It´s a pity that not many people are sharing their shortfilm efforts on the web or not shooting any. I remember the GH4 launch and along with all the slomo, flowers, walking backs of heads, there was a variety of interesting and inspiring fictional shortfilms, pieces of fictional filmmaking. Little sidenote, my G6 video I posted above was kind of a concept quickshot for the shortfilm this trailer is from. I must say I am still very fond of the G6. But color rendition of the newer bunch of Lumix cams is impressive, when graded. So even more a pity, that the newer Lumix cams don´t seem to inspire to shoot shorts as much as they are used to film documentaries, webcontent, fashion ads, imagefilms, and stuff like that. Some wedding films with the GH5 are super impressive. Would love to see that in the fiction shortfilm area.

The polaroid in this ad looks so much better than the ad itself. That´s the highly suggestive power of exellent colorwork. Polaroids can indeed provide some exellent color. I have a few large format ones, really looking awesome. Great find and compliment. Thank you!
  11. I feel you Jon. What I did, was starting to listen to Scorcese, Linklater and the likes, Edward Murch, Tony Zhous essays and so on. DSLRGuide is a super cool kid, who is one of the current Youtube kids providing really awesome content on a regular basis. I think he is one of the best and fantastic in his own right. https://www.youtube.com/user/DSLRguide/videos

Thanks you! This coming from you is very exiting! Thanks a lot, my friend! I am very exited about the GH5. Not mine though. I only rented it. Also, these Canon FDs are something I cannot praise about enough. The 100mm is even more amazing in its visual splendor. But the 28 on S35 booster is amazing too. I shot at 8bit only, 100mbps HD, natural profile with contrast at 0, color-2. Even though I put sharpness all the way down to -5 it is still too sharp for my eyes. I think some kidzrevils lensing and filter skills are needed for this camera. Deezid of this forum has stated that only the 6K mode allows your to turn sharpening off completely. I assume V Log should come very close to it.

Soligor 21mm, sounds interesting. A lens retailer told me the 28 f2 is supposed to be nice too, one of the good f2.0 lenses in that focal length. I have been a bit disappointed by my sample of Olympus Zuiko so my search for the nice bargain price 28 f2 is still goin strong. I think I will settle for the Canon FD version some time.

Okay, three lenses in the mix and a rented GH5 in 8bit 100mbps natural profile. FD 28 and 100, both stellar lenses, and a fun slr magic 12mm. all lenses shot at f4 and 800iso. Trailer is for my shortfilm I shot end of august. Trailer is for the soundguy, so he gets a feel before rough cut is finished.. I really like the cam and the FDs on a focalreducer. I think with a 28 and a 100 on a focal reducer you are set. Might put up a PW. It will be boxcar.
  15. @Justin Bacle Hey Justin, what lens is on that pretty outfit? cheers
  16. Okay, my finding. Already REC709, 8bit HD mode is astonishing. GH5 is a beast. I´ve been saying that a few times now. So, here is my quick trailer of the short I shot. Shot in 8bit glory. Editing a film is a total different beast though. So I hope the mood of my trailer will transfer well into the final shortfilm. It´s low bitrate uplaod, grade is still a bit rough on the edges.. Still hope it can give an impression about my findings with this camera. I might put a PW to this. It will be boxcar then.
  17. Hey Vesku, thank you for your reply. I just sent you a PM, so I don´t bloat this thread and keep my message slim and elegant:) Btw, I think the 400Mbps talk, which you started, has met plenty of interest! It was an interesting thread until it started repeating itself without evaluating the findings of advantages ALL I has to offer. But let me not start this all over again!:) cheers
  18. Oh wow, I always get dizzy, when discussions heat up. Dear Jon, I understand your point of view regarding some forum posts, which can come across as repetetive to some and with contradictions within their own argumentation. We should take the challenge and still be able to understand eachothers different communicational behaviours and needs. Dear Vesku, I think your posts about the GH5 are starting to repeat its points. I enjoyed reading the first, second and third time but then I would start to miss some additional knowledge instead of the same and sometimes subjective information over and over again. For instance, I have shown a screenshot that there are obvious advantages of ALL I. Still, the disucussion about it has been keeping on going on over a few pages. One click on the thumbnail would have helped ending the doubts. ALL I shows much less IPB pixel clusters than IPB, to repeat my point on that issue this one time.:) As for showing footage, indeed, there are not many if hardly any shorts on the web, which were shot with a G7, G85 nor GX85. Three of the most discussed DSLMs on this forum and so very few real shortfilms on the net. Super cool! You guys have done so much awesome and motivating and inspiring stuff over the years! So you are avoiding to give us penny pinchers promises on GH5 HD RAW mode or full VLOG curve. Is that a sign you are giving, which we can misinterpret?
  19. Luke, I rather watch your science fiction shortfilm instead. Unless you are really talking about a very few more weeks. Full VLOG curve instead of L for the GH5? HD RAW mode- should be piece of cake if DJI Osmo did it? Awesome BTS video on your science fiction film as well! Thanks a lot!
  20. Maybe sell the A6300 as long as they sell. Then get a Panasonic G85 as your A all purpose cam for a great mix of convinience, usuability and nice quality. Colors are nice, codec is great, image is nice. Then with the left money start to save up for a 5D3 as you ultimate color sensation and serious 2K RAW cinema camera. I´d sell the Sony and get a used Lumix 85 plus a little profit. Do you have Sony footage you would like to show? I don´t mean that as a proof. I am just interested since I am always exited to see what people can do with these 8bit DSLMs. Kidzevil, member of this forum, has provided some awesome examples with the A6500. Though to me I think his results with the G85 are even nicer and more consistent regarding color quality. And easier to achieve.

You have the Soligor 35-70 2.8-3.5 in your arsenal? If so, would you give it a run on your beautiful Canon RAW beauty? What are your lenses not many seem to want? I read the Canon 28mm F2.0 is a real stinker to be sold for around 50 dollars! You wanna sell that one? Kidz, how can color rendering sound like anything?:) Just, teasin. You should give it a try. But please don´t give up that beautiful Panni. Not sayin Panny due to some amount of weirdness going along with that. If that is a good reason to see you shoot more with the Fuji, yeah, wanna see that too. But don´t pay a fortune for these lense you have been praising so much for the last couple posts. I think the Veydras are expensive enough. Though a super bargain, of course

But still Jon, your Fuji has some real mojo. Okay, I´ll stop bugging you now. Good night, too much of long night grading sessions for me.
  23. Not much in the fiction shortfilms going on on the web with these cameras. Period. :/ Thanks for your contributions. Yeah, I´ve watched it a couple months ago. Really nice. But, sorry to say so, it´s a doc, not a fiction short:)

@jonpais,well Jon, I agree, you got an awesome camera at your hands with the GH5. But I must say, the awesomest footage I´ve seen from you and pretty awesome in its own right is that one bw vignette of streetlife you shot withy our Fuji and the Zhinxx???:) crane. Awesome feel for the subjet(s) and action and place and point in time. And, awesome black and white look. Would love to see some vignettes of streetlife with the Laowa and your GH5. Maybe also give it one of the pretty nice Lumix BW modes a try.
  25. I think this thread will get really exiting, once some forum members got their hands on the camera. Looking forward to see some footage then. I imagine @Zak Forsman might get his hands on an EVA some time soon. That will be an exiting opinion from a director and writer and producer of independent cinema films.
