  1. You will be able to see blacks as whites, so nothing will be ever dark again but light:)

@jonpais, Jon, do you also own the 15mm 1.7? Would love to see that in the mix. I think your testing shows off lenses exellently. Thanks again for that. One suggestion, maybe keep the ratio of expanation and showing an even 50 to 50 to have a perfect balance of the two. @cantsin looks like a fun lens definately. What´s up with the sound at 7.50 with the DJane holding the cellphone, is she recording off the amp?
  3. Hallo, can you test your FD lens on an FD camera as well, to see if lens is faulty? Regular FD adapters are within some limits of precision but will work well without the problems, which occured during your testing. I would recommend a cheaper Focal Reducer, if you want to widen the field of view of your lens and if you want to get 1 more step of light gathering, making a f2.8 into a F2 regarding light gathering. I am using one. Optically it works very well with my 28mm 2.8 and fifty 1.4, also had a 100 2.8 on it once with great effect. My sample has a bit wobbly connection to the m43 mount. But for the price and results I am very happy with it. My focal reducer looks like this, though this model has different manufactors or distributors: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Focal-Reducer-Speed-Booster-Adapter-Canon-FD-mount-lens-to-Micro-4-3-GF6-M43-EP5/182034241663?epid=885072661&hash=item2a6216187f:g:0SwAAOSwQItUE~np You might want to repost this under the main or in the lens section, so you thread gets more attention.
  4. There is a shooting and editing style using 1 to 4 second segments of slow motion. It gives an effect of animated stills. It is often used by DSLM/R shooters, to present their vision.expression. Due to short length of the shot in combination with slomo and with only one animate subject in the frame, this largely popular shooting style has a strong reminiscence to cinemagraphs. A lot of times that are walking backs of heads. Wedding videos often combine characteristics of stills photography and videography. The cinemagraph is the most consequent approach of moving photographs and fits the popular shooting style of videographers around the world. In the video below we see the actress like posing for a photgraph, sometimes it could almost have been a cinemagraph as well. I typed GH5 in youtube search, this shooting style goes along with test videos for a new camera.

@jonpais, Jon, are the three shots above shot wide open, or at what aperture were they shot? Getting confused, you also have the 16mm Veydra or the 12mm? cheers

Hey Kidz, that´s rec709. I download the very compressed 2K 130mb file of off youtube. I think it´s rec709 from the start due to Jons Leeming Lut and due to youtube. If not, then for sure the grade is 709. So it´s 709:)

Hey Jon, that lens gives a perspective and interesting look. I had to give it a try and downloaded the 2k stream and did a grade. It´s a very modern look. I would rent it thanks to your review. Thank you! A good mix of talking and show footage.
  9. there is no jack of all trades. Either good low light and 4k60p it would be a GH5 or best in class low light with A7SII, 30p in 4K. Neither of these two cameras are cheap, ranging from 1800 to 2500 USD approx. Don´t overlook that GH5 is about 2 stops better in lowlight than your 7D and has 1.5 times the resolution already in its HD mode.
  10. If 2x anamorph, then Luk filmed in the known Lumix 4 to 3 mode with 3328 x 2496px, the same like the GH4 and G7 4to3 video modes. Luks screegrab would then be 50% downsized in each width and height. The 2x anamorph image was then 6656 x 2496 pixels large and original captured image was 3328x2496 px, giving us a 4to3 ratio, the same as on the GH4 and G7 4to3 mode for anamorphic shooting. If we keep the sensor heigth with a pixel count of 2496 and expand width for 16 to 9 ratio, it would give us a sensor with about 4438 x 2496 pixels. So it could be a sensor with 4438 x 2496 pixels in 16:9 ratio, my bet in S35 size.
  11. Lumix GH5s, told you guys:) Both Screengrabs have a resolution of 3328 x 1248 pixels. Let´s assume Luk didnt crop them in order to confuse us:), I´d say, it´s a 2K+ sensor, 1.78 aspect ration (16:9). Luk had a 1.5 anamorph on the cam. 3328pixels width : 1.5 anamorph = 2218.666.. px width. Pixel width of 2218,66.. devided by aspect ratio 16:9 gives us... 1248 pixels height, just like the screengrab:) So, it could really possibly be a 16:9 sensor with a resolution of 2218 by 1248 pixels, codec and stuff would be the same as the GH5. Its like a BMC for low light and super low rolling shutter. Mount seems to be very strong, as Luks video didnt show any lens support for that 5 pound beast of a lens. No IBIS my guess with that extra strong mount. Price I´d say 2599 dollars, for 2218x1248 16:9 sensor, super low light camera like the A7S. Sensor size S35, like EVA1 with 24.60mm x 12.97mm.

Good review and impressions of place and people. Some really nice people you filmed. I think you told us before that people are more relaxed about cameras if approached nicely in your neighborhood. I´d do it where I live, I´d be in trouble. But if I go to the more tourist areas, it will be just fine and well received. A 16mm Veydra T2, okay, I see..:) Would love to see more of that bad sister, but in the beautiful verité style you did the Fuji BW video with. Though it is not so easy to film that cinematically just like that all the time. Not even Phil Bloom did that, but shot video rather photgraphically from tripods, though beautifully done of course.
  13. So you have been using the 422 mostly and being satisfied with it?

Johnny (it better) b goode, @jonpais Your 16mill review I mean. Downloading it in beasty 2K resolution to see your review despite my slow(-you guys love the- ish -suffix:) internet connection. By the way, anonimito, be you good too, cat!:) How is manual focussing. Guess it´s in your review. Okay, no need to conversate then:)
  15. I once asked, if Richard Gale was still doing the A6000 mods, which Andrew was giving information about. Sometimes some cameras click better than others, let´s put it this way. Well, IBIS and UI are advantages to the Lumix offerings, not the other way around:)
  16. Yeah, there are a lot of awesome older threads on this forum, which sparkle an enthusiasm towards filmmaking that is totally motiviating to create and to film. What do you mean with your question, you mean a dolly in/out with digital zoom out/in?:)
  17. Like the buch of newer DSLMs the LS300 is another very capable camera without shortfilms on the web, besides its launch effort. Well, found this instead. It has the guts of what I consider inspiring filmmaking, rough around the edges but using the medium, even if not perfectly but with effective and well executed filmmaking tools. I think lotta talent shown in this quirky effort, despite its imperfections being visible.
  18. that´s a rough assumption about someones state of mind. u guys are familiar with eachother? he seems to be very sane to me.
  19. Andy, you better get your tush back here and inspire our spirits with your passion and knowledge! @andy lee Awesome post always need awesome contributors like you!
  20. How do the 10bit 444 after upgrade and 422 without upgrade compare quality wise? How do the 10bit 444 after upgrade and 422 without upgrade compare quality wise?
  21. Would love to see a shortfilm done with this camera, which is crafted and created with the same love and energy as the best GH1, GH2 and 5DII films were done. Not many impressive shortfilm efforts on the web, which were done with a Lumix G7 or A6300/6500 and the likes. Have seen one nice LS300 piece in a basement, dark sewers kind of enviroment shot in JLog, which looked fine. That´s it. Are there more around? Would have been cool to have EVA1 codec specs in a follow up for 4000 USD.
  22. Ah, legendary thread, though pretty recent. Happy to have found it again. These are the inspirational threads I always love Andrews forum for. I don´t know, if I make sense to others, if I say this thread has the classic EOSHD flavor and promise and joy. @IronFilm, would you like to post your Sony F3 film again. These creative small films are really what inspires me to shoot. Not many shortfilms in the shooting section unfortunately. And, discussion there is absent, even more unfortunate.
  23. Hey Jon, always thought it was a A7RII I think video shows a nice example of muted color. It´s from Richard Gale himself. I remember when it was posted here the first time. So it´s an A7s then. Some people know how to treat that camera indeed:)
  24. @Laurier, I like the grade and colors. But when it comes to less muted palettes Sonys 8bit cameras have not so pleasing colors. But good job on your video.
