  1. Wow, now my lens related parts of comment disappeared by commenting on something else. Guess, this is an edit now. So, again:

@kidzrevil Awesome shots and magnificient colors. Really standing out. Makes me want to chase some natural light more!

Findings about the Fujinon 12.5mm c-mount super16 lens. Awesome! No crop on GX85 in UHD mode plus electronic IBIS. Put focal length on the smallest number, think it was 6mm, to avoid wobbliing vignette.

Great image, colors. Really usuable at F2. My new favorite lens on the GX85. I guess I will keep the GX. Perfect combo. Crop (compared to 135 photofilm) in 4K plus electronic IBIS  should be around 2.4, making it an equivalent of 15mm on m43 full sensor.

Hell look that this forum alone...  Hell I think Canon even has some new phone patents... get ready for the inevitable. ... Then why the hell not?

Glenn, you sound like webrunner, already :) Heck, I might start to apply that kinda liguistics. Heck yeah, that would be a tons of fun. :)

Form factor is such a weird thing. The body i prefer the most with a pancake is from the GF1. Somehow it feels so much cooler and fun in the hand than my GX85. Don´t know why. So, if they put out a smartphone in that formfactor, heck, that would be cool. Or wouldnt it.

  3. wow, thinking about these very few of the most recent remarks in this thread, i must say,  I really would appreciate it, if they will be deleted, @Andrew Reid! These kind of attacks are not acceptable, in my opinion.

Maybe not old but there have been two generations since the G7, so it is a little long in the tooth. The G6 is another great example of old tech that still holds up today, thanks for mentioning it. I’ve never used one but I always liked the rounded design of the camera, it looks like it would fit well in the hand?

Hey Glenn, G7 even fits better. Just the buttons are worse regarding size and clicking. Colors are great to grade. And it works well at iso 1600 in lowlight, better than G6 at 800.

  5. bmcc 2.5k mft mount version will fall even more once bmpcc2 is out. best starter cam for testing out blackmagic color science. put some vmount battery to it and some molltone for shading the monitor and you are set:) I imagine a bmccameras 2.5k with cage and ssd can be found on ebay soon for less than 500usd.

That’s cool. He’s got lots more good work on his channel.

Indeed. I think it´s one of the best casual "girl walking but not talking but groovin on IBIS"- videos on youtube. I don´t see harsh light but intense and for real and dynamic, strong, natural light, which is speaking for this special achieved look. Maybe my monitor is much more forgiving than yours. One never knows.

  7. I tried my G7 this weekend, which I bought a year ago and have never used ever since due to my purchase of the GX85 a few weeks later. Guess what, that form factor is hard to beat when it comes to DSLMs. Didnt miss the IBIS, as the G7 must have a much faster sensor readout than the older G6. I was able to do some steady walks with it. I think it is the prettiest of the Lumix cams, just the buttons are a step backwards from the G6. Color mojo after grading. Love it. My recommendation! Woulndt call it an old camera just yet though. Sensor and pipeline are pretty sweet.

  8. @jonpais, I must say, I like the look. Great enviromental portrait photo style. Nice slide like colors, not best though with great mojo. Colors sing. Love the suburban setting  and the framing and capturing of architecture, materials and texture. And love it how it is not hidden by shallow dof. In my opinion great footage. Lovely.

Other than the 2 you've described... I doubt it. What you could possibly do is... take another system's teleconverter that's both able to adapt C-mount and adapt to M4/3?

E.g. the Sigma APO TC 1.4x DG in EF mount. EF-mount can be adapted to M43 and is able to adapt C-mount itself. Atleast... that's my theory... :grimace: (might be too much protruding parts to adapt the shallow C-mount adapter though).

Hey, thank you. I read about cmount lenses being modified to mounts like Nikon F in a rather dedicated effort.:) Cmount wouldnt adapt well to EF, because of its much shorter flange distance, afaik.

Why not get the fujinon 1.4x c-mount extender?

Hallo, is there one? Could you post a linke please? That would really be cool. I only found their native Fuji Xmount extenders for their Xpro and XT DSLM cameras. cheers

If you are using the GH5, if you engage the EXT TEL option it will crop the sensor and leave about what you need for a 1" C-Mount Lens and it will save you about a stop of light over using a 1.4x optical extender.  If the EXT TEL crop is not enough, you can also engage the IBIS / sensor image stabilization and it will crop even more.

I have an Olympus 1.4x MTF extender and it is designed to go inside of the lens it attaches to so it will not work with a C-Mount lens.  There is an advantage to using full gate 6k recording when scanning the full sensor readout so in that case having an optical extender that allows you to cover the whole MTF sensor may have resolution benefits, but many C-Mount lens are not designed to resolve 6k, let alone 4k, so you may find using the extender hurts resolution more that if you just record 4k cropped without it.

Hey, I dont have a GH5, so no additional 1.4 crop possible with my cams, only 2.4 via Extele or 2x with Digizoom with my Lumix cams. Extension by factor 1.4 would be perfect giving me the desired S16 for my S16 lens. So search still going on.:) cheers

I saw one test using the Computar doubler with this lens/camera and it looked like hot garbage, but maybe that's the doubler's fault.

I would like to find a nice doubler for cmount as well. Afai read, cmount doublers give bad results and might not even avoid vignetting.

Is it  true that the 1.4 and  2x extenders for mft or FT only work for one or two lenses? Would love a 1.4 extender for mft to mft and then put a cmount adapter on top of it.

So, Matt, did you find a way to mount your 12.5 Fuji properly?

Fujinon 12.5mm 1.4 on the bmpcc, shot wide open. I still need an adapter that will allow me to focus past 2ft, but I wanted to at least get a rough idea of the sharpness of this lens at f/1.4. I'm pleased so far.

@mercermaybe you could chim in, you´ve been an advocat for that lens, so I´ve bought one too a couple months ago. But still would need to know what would be the best cmount adapter for it?

  12. Hey, so what´s the deal with the crop as mentioned before, 4K in 2.4 crop compared to 36x24 FF? If full APSC sensor and good codec, this would be very interesting, another IF battery life and heat work in favor.

No 25 or 30p then? Kinda exited to see more canon colors with good 4KtoHD resolution:)

The IS on that lens is nothing short of amazing. And it’s sharp as a tack wide open.

You guys are suckers! Making people want to buy stuff:)

  13. Such awesome thread and posts. Shows how much of a great community this often is. Discussing with eachother instead of one against another. Some awesome inspiration I had been getting from post like these.

I searched the Eoshd treasure chests for gems like these. This is a great archive. Found some more musicvideso from Oliver Daniel. That kid has been putting out stuff for years now. Just like Mattias doing his awesome camera and lens video essays.

    6. The gh2 sundance winner and Andy Lee got me sold on panasonic, even though I don't think that Andy Lee's movie was finished :D

In case you didn't know, he was the bad guy in james bond, tomorrow never dies. I guess that makes me one of the few people in the forum that already directed a hollywood actor, haha.
Will post a short clip if anyone is interested. (sorry for writing so much)

Hey, cool write up! Thanks. You must have been a follower for a while now, poiniting out Andy Lees movie with a Panny cam :) He made a lot of people buy these little cameras. I got a G6 and GX85 myself and not using an additional G7, because I am happy with the HD from the G6 and the 4K and stabilization from the GX85. That´s an awesome story, the most famous GX85 in the world! :) Yeah, please post some footage. cheers, Marty

@mercer Hey Glenn, so is it about Minolta lenses or just the 35mm hitting the glass of the focal reducer with its rear element?
