HUMAN. The Movie. What makes us human.
Forget for a second all the stupid things we worry about,   APS   FF   s35   UHD   FPS
DR   IBIS   ISO   DOF   RAW   LOG   LUT   THEFUCK, all those stupid things.  Human
shows (spoken) portraits of people around the world and (aerial) beautiful,
extraordinarily beautiful, views of the Earth.  Get your favourite armchair and wonderful
4K display and 90 minutes for yourself and watch it.  Or use your 7 inch tablet whilst a TV
is screaming in the next room.  Watch it.
Human is made up of 200 incredibly personal portraits. Interviews with people from
all walks of life, and that expose many aspects of what makes us human.

Human has just been released in several formats (more info on the official site).
There's a special extended version (3 volumes of about 90 minutes each)
that can be watched on youtube thanks to an arrangement with Google.  It is
available with embedded subtitles, and there are more languages than the three

“I dreamed of a film in which the power of words would resonate with the beauty of
the world. The movie relates the voices of all those, men and women, who
entrusted me with their stories. And it becomes their messenger.”
    Director Yann Arthus-Bertrand

    A MOVIE WITH THREE VOICES
    These three voices – People’s word, Earth’s testimonial et Music’s lyrism –
act together to provide a single voice to our humanities.
    THE VOICE OF PEOPLE
As an ode to humanity, HUMAN is a rare collection of stories, faces and fates.
Yann-Arthus Bertrand takes us into an immersive experience through
human destiny. Through several witnesses who succeed one another
and confide, the film director portrays a contrasted humanity.
    THE VOICE OF EARTH
Through the aerial sequences, Yann Arthus-Bertrand shares his vision of the world
and the people with the spectator, and offers a poetic and critical insight
of our planet. In HUMAN, the camera lens reveals places of an unsuspected
beauty, but also poses a careful look at the lives of men worldwide.
    THE VOICE OF MUSIC
As an universal language, music transcends our emotions,
sublimates the pictures and rhythmises the story.

I've been waiting on this little thing since announced. Finally received it today.
It works just as advertised and is even a bit sturdier than I expected.
Of the cameras I have used I would have no trouble using pretty much any DSLR with a mic and big 70-200 or even the BMPC4K with batteries, cage and FF.
The only problem I see people have in previous comments is the price of $145. But IMO, totally worth it.
Specially since I pretty much always have a different mount on my slider that I like but wouldnt want on a video head,

    Dear EOSHD community,
I am an independent french graphic designer and I regularly work in photo and video.
Over the years, I created a collection of 3D LUT files to ease the color grading of my projects.
Recently I created a pack with my 38 original LUTs.
They are profiled on high-resolution color matrix and were built to preserve skin tones as best as possible.
I had the chance to work with many different cameras and I spent a lot of time creating these looks and testing on raw footages, from 5DMKII and 7D with Magic Lantern, GH4, A7S, BMPC 4K, and stills from RED EPIC.
About HDSLR, these LUTs are calibrated on CineStyle/Cinelike profiles.
Also in my pack is included a LUT to properly « flat » a footage and get a good working basis before grading.
Website for more infos : http://luts.iwltbap.com
Instagram with short video samples : https://instagram.com/luts
At the end of this post you will find some sample images before-after.
My LUTs pack is for sale $20, but I created a discount code of -25% for EOSHD community.
So you can get it for $15 instead of $20 via : https://sellfy.com/p/Ainy/-EOSHD
My pack is regularly updated with new LUTs and all updates are free.
On my website you can download a free LUT with the famous teal-orange look.
Also, I offer for free a 4K film grain based on 35mm film scans (10sec video encoded in Apple ProRes 422 at 25fps).
Hope you will like my LUTs.

Assuming you haven't seen this.. it looks like cameramanben has done something really useful here: he's compiled a ton of research and written a JavaScript LUT calculator tool released under a GNU freesoftware license (I think this is about as free as it gets). This could be used for 1D shaper LUT's, or 3D LUT's with gamma/gamut baked together - if that's more your thing - and even custom code value ranges. I think you can upload a sample image too. I see an A7s profile as well as Rec2020 gamut, DCI-P3 gamut... it's on github.

Thanks. I went back to square one after having quite a few unsuccessful attempts and remembered and old video from me, which i really liked:
    Recipe is as follows:
    Standard with -5,-5,-5,-5
    Highlight / Shadow 0,0
Iso was Auto, but i guess it was 200-400
    Tiffen Ultra Contrast 3 Filter
FilmConvert with GH4 Profile, FJ SuperX 400 emulation was used with 30% grain
Some slight adjustment in the shadows to give it more contrast, thats it. Works out of the box on the GM1 and seems to work out of the box on the LX100.
Will put up some small demo video later.

Samsung NX1 is the correct answer.
    UHD, ISO 100, 85 mm f/1.4.
It's actually a screenshot from Premiere's fullscreen preview, so that's why it's 1920x1080 (display is using that resolution). I don't know if print screen + pasting into photoshop + exporting for web made any difference in terms or banding or anything.
I personally like it really much how this camera handles the colors. I've used GH3 and LX100 before it, and it was really difficult for me to get natural look out of those cameras. Lips were always purple.

    Good day to all,
Just wanted to warn this good community that some people on eBay UK are wise on the fact that quite a few of us are looking for second hand Canon 1DC.
We bought 15 days ago a 1DC advertised very convincingly by a "photographer" from Worcester (UK). The 1DC  "used a handful of times, primarily for 2 weddings videos in the summer, the shutter count on the camera is 7907."  Long story short, after a few emails and a payment via Paypal, we got a tracking number from parcel2go which conveniently was totally non specific (so really, the opposite of a tracking number): no starting point address, no delivery address, no mention of the nature of the parcel, nothing at all... which is exactly what we got at the end of one stressful week. We had to call eBay and Paypal then, got refunded in full TODAY. But we consider this pretty much a miracle. At the end, we have to say that we probably did not verify thoroughly the identity of our seller i.e. his digital footprint, his web site or facebook or LinkedIn nor did we check enough the reality of the transaction. Be careful.
    Thanks for the good work.

    Hello!

We cant carry our NX1s, GH4s and A7s with us all the time. For those who want a good 4k camera that you can carry all the time, thats the best solution that I have found.
The best Android phones shoot 4k with a bitrate of aprox 48Mbps. They are not bad, but they have too much compression artifacts, contrast, saturation etc.
A few days ago I found an amazing app, and I would like to share it with everyone. I have no bonds with the app developer, but im afraid he will give up his project if there is not enough support. Im pretty sure he can make things even better.
What we have now with the app is:

    - Flat picture profile (It recovers a good amount of highlights and a little bit of shadows)
    - Better noise reduction (more like film grain. The stock one is very blocky)
    - 24 fps - 30 fps
    - 200Mbps!!! Thats the best part! Much better video quality. Less macro blocking, less banding etc, so you can recover more detail, grade the videos with the less problems etc.

Frame grab from the Samsung Galaxy S6 stock camera - 4k at 50Mbps

Frame grab from the Samsung Galaxy S6 using the app at 200 Mbps

There is a lot of room for improvements, like more manual control, more control over the picture profile etc. But I do think that, at the moment, thats the best 4k camera that you can carry around all the time!

Lets support the guy, so he can make it even better!

The name of the app is CINEMA 4K, and its available for free at the play store! Make sure to update your phone to 5.1.1!!!

    Hi Chaps.
I decided to take my FORBES70 camera out to play last weekend.  I'm happy with the results but wanted to ask for some honest critique.
I'd love to hear opinions on the image quality - resolution, perceived dynamic range / highlight/shadow rolloff, colour, and general 'look' of the images.
Please bear in mind that the current maximum res is full hd, but in terms of full hd res, how is the image looking?

I'd also love to hear some views on the large format aesthetic the camera exhibits.  Maybe in comparison with the recent trailers for Hateful Eight and The Revenant.  Is the added expense over say a full frame camera and fast lenses justifiable?  is the current resolution cap of full hd a real issue?
curious for your thoughts! - ps.  larger file available for download (and detailed info about the system) on the vimeo page
