  1. I have a couple of hand me downdown 19" LCDs that are 1440x900 tn panels that work okay but was thinking of getting a 24 or 27" monitor that is more suited for video editing/photo work and to watch movies on. So far I've been looking at dells u2415, uz2715h, and u2715h. The uz model doesn't have its color specs listed but the other 2 are suppose to be pretty good. One is a 27" qhd resolution that is 16:9 that I thought might be better for watching movies on and be big enough to compare to the 24" 16:10 hd monitor. I've now read these monitors might not be good for watching movies on though cause their finish looks grainy or brings out the grain in movies, plus watching DVDs and blurays on a qhd would have to be upscaled which could affect quality. I use vlc or powerdvd for playback, and movie studio platinum 13 for editing. Can anyone comment on these for editing and watching movies? I also have 4k videos from the gh4 to watch. Thank you for your thoughts.
  2. If you can spring an extra 10 dollars tiffens variable nd gets good reviews. I just picked on up and like it so far. This is for 58mm though, not sure what your lenses are. Either way I would just save up to get a more versatile filter rather than invest in something you might end up having limited use for. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/821124-REG/Tiffen_58VND_58mm_Variable_Neutral_Density.html
  3. I'm having a problem playing back and editing some 4k clips and realizing my computer is just too slow. I'm going to try moderate overclocking but if I had to build a new computer what would you recommend? Budget would be around 1,000. Thanks for your help.

    GH4 V-Log $99

You need to cool down. Customer service folks are doing their job and being friendly when a lot of people might not be. They don't make Panasonic's decisions. Just be happy the firmware is being released and is reasonable for people to afford. Peace
  5. I think it just dropped 50 dollars cause panasonic is having a sale on several cameras. http://shop.panasonic.com/cameras-and-camcorders/cameras?sc_mc=sem_google-search_cov_imaging_brand_category http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1057135-REG/panasonic_dmc_fz1000k_lumix_dmc_fz1000_digital_camera.html
  6. I didn't see a post on this so I'll just let people know. The Gh4 is 100 dollars off now at B&H & Andorama. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1028453-REG/panasonic_dmc_gh4kbody_lumix_dmc_gh4_mirrorless_micro.html Andorama actually has this with with a free shotgun mic, which sparse reviews have said isn't great, but b&h can match with a different mic. You end up choosing between either's reward points/giftcard or the throw in. http://www.adorama.com/IPCDMCGH4AT.html
  7. Doesn't the gh4 already had unlimited recording?
  8. I haven't heard of those brands. For variable nd I've heard heliopan being the best with hard stops, tiffen and slr magic after that, and then hoya pro (not just hoya). I went with tiffen for my Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 but that's mainly cause I'm unsure if I'm going to return the lens or not for a sigma f1.8 zoom.
  9. Yeah I was looking at a mt055xpro3/502hd bundle but no one seemed to have any opinions on them. I imagine the ace m is better though. Heavier too.

    Pilotfly H1+

Does anyone know how much noise the pilotfly h1+ and came single make or which one is more quite? Can you put a rode video mic pro on your camera when using these and use the sound?
  11. Here's a bunch of reviews em5 ii : https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=em5+ii+review Sigma f1.8 18-35mm: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sigma+18-35+f1.8+review+
  12. Could I get some recommendations for a tripod and fluid head for the gh4 with the Panasonic 12-35mm lens? I'd like to go hiking with it and have something that will last a while. Budget is around 400 for the combo. Thank you for your time.
  13. He could get a zoom h4 for 200 or h5 for 270 which it seems like alot of people do even for the gh4, then sync the audio in post. That's a lot easier than post stabilization of 4k. The video won't be as good perhaps but it will not be bad, at least from what I've seen on YouTube.
  14. What about an Olympus em5 ii with ef mount sigma f1.8 18-35mm & metabones speedbooster? That's 2,600, 2,750 with variable nd by tiffen. Actually it might be less cause that's for the xl metabones. You don't get 4k but you invested in a good ef lens for future camera bodies and a good run and gun stabilized body. Stabilization in post is a headache I'm finding especially for gh4 4k unless you have a really new and high end machine/software which will cost even more to invest in and still add time. Your light and stabilization needs with this setup would be mostly taken care of. With the gh4 your limited to tripod work, investing in more lighting and a3 axis stabilizer, which only some will support the heavier glass a metabones uses and again will put you way over budget. You're better off sticking to 1080p right now and if that's the case the em5ii will save you a lot of time at the sacrifice of some quality, I think it's mainly moire and aliasing that it's not great at from reading. If so you could get it and sell the body in a year and only be out a fifth of your total investment.
  15. I'm going to get a 42" white translucent umbrella to soften a 10,000 lux light. I have extra microphone stands, would there be an easy non expensive way to attach the two that anyone knows about? Thanks
