Yeah, I’m surprised the rope, on the far left corner, has any detail considering the amount of sky in the shot.
Is the plugin part of the inspector, or do you drop and drag it onto the clip?
Hahaha! Yes, please do! I know Red is public enemy number one around here but as a cinema camera, I suspect the Epic will have way better silkyshuddercodeshuttermojo than the P4K. It will be interesting to see a fair comparison from someone other than a YouTube influencer.

BTW, I had to update the Plugin to get the Raven sample to work but after that it worked perfectly and the Raw settings are available.
(That Raven has some serious DR, too bad about the price. The Scarlet is definitely more within my comfort zone.)

 

Ive had both and compared them side by side. The Viltrox is sharper on all apertures accept for wide open, has an adjustable back focus (no tools required) and its like a third of the price.
The only Metabones I would ever buy is the dedicated BMPCC version (which I currently own), used. Otherwise I would go Viltrox (I sold my Metabones XL).

Yes, this is interesting. It doesn’t matter to me if the Komodo is in my price range for the basic fact that it will lower the used prices on their older cameras. And basically every camera they ever made still produces a relevant image. 
But if the Komodo, is around $3000... my next camera could be a Red. I assume it will be closer to $6000, though. 

RED supplies sample files from several of their cameras. You made me curious since I haven't used the plug-in for a couple of years. So I'm downloading a Raven sample as we speak

Yes there is. I think I show it briefly in my video on the R1MX.
Yes its free and works as a plugin, no need for a camera, downloaded samples works just fine.
And it works in FCPX which is my preferred NLE ever since ditching Premiere some years ago.
Resolve is great and I use it a ton. But FCPX is just so smooth for the stuff I do. If FC got Braw support or that Z6 finally started spitting out PoresRaw then things would obviously change. But as of today, Redcode is by far the smoothest raw codec within my workflow.
This is why I hope for an affordable alternative from RED. A fully kittet Scarlet is sub €5000 and the old R1MX is less than €3000 (but huge).
If the Komodo helps push it down to €2000 I would be all over it, despite the lawsuits and what not.

"Affordable" for RED means +$5K... BMD is imo the only ones truly bringing affordable RAW cameras to the market.
Mattias brings up a good point though, if RED code is indeed lighter on your NLE.. you might be saving big bucks on a computer system upgrade.

I was going to ask you about this... I never knew there was a Raw Tab for Redcode in FCPX... AWESOME!
Can anyone use it if they have some sample footage, or do you need to own a Red camera to access it?
I wish I could convert my .mlv files to Redcode instead of .cdng. 

Don't know why anyone would think the P6K captures vidoish footage. That's just crazy. It's a cinema camera for crying out loud.

RED doesn't have affordable cameras on the market that shoot RAW either.

Magic Lantern unlocked RAW on Canon DSLR's 10 years ago.  So if MagicLantern Code could unlock RAW for Canon, then how mighty is that RedCode you keep talking about?
RedCode is RED's way of marketing their CODE to justify their HUGE price mark ups and the win over PEOPLE like you. RED and RedCode was just smoke and mirrors and wasn't proprietary code that should have every been patented.  
As the big bad You Tube influencer you didn't do your homework on this subject.

EDIT: on second thought, don't answer. You probably didn't even read my post and most likely won't read your own.
For me workflow is the most important thing. Quality wise I'm all set with most recent cameras. But RED is so far the only camera I've used with a Raw codec that was editable in FCPX. And it had a good quality to size ratio as well as flowing like butter in 4.5K raw on an ooold computer.
So if this new thing is their first truly affordable camera. Or it pushes for example a used Scarlett down to my level.. then I'm in.

Exactly. Say what you will about the company and their pricing or whatever, but the sensors they use with their workflow and, most importantly, REDCODE, makes their image really, really shine. The Komodo is very exciting especially because of the battery and CFast choices and potential Atomos partnership. Automatically makes getting the whole system up and running a much more affordable endeavor.
If the Komodo can deliver in sensor size, frame rates, and ISO like Gemini, Red is going to have a pretty big hit on their hands.

Thats the first video Ive ever seen from the P6K and I must say... it looked extremely videoish. Surely there are some really cinematic footage out there that would better illustrate the point you where trying to make.

So now you think you're a snob and bring up global shutter? I know global shutter and it has issues or everyone would use global shutter.  
 
Again for the 100th time.  My link and post was only about cadence and motion.  Feel free to add actual comments to debate that if you like, I welcome that.  But don't insult us and make backyard comments about the footage looking videoish.  On anther post you'll praise the S1 for it's cinematic look. 
And stop the b.s. comments that you're making.  You said: "I have said more than once that I'm convinced that the P6K can capture cinematic footage." This is such a backhanded compliment that it's mind boggling.  What's the deal. I thought you were a straight up down the line guy?  Stop with the videoish and I'n certain the 6K can be cinematic. 
You're turning into a negative influencer. Look at the comment below your original one after my video. One of your sheep chimed in the same way.  
Again - cadence motion is better on the P6K then the P4K and that was what my link and comment were about.

Please note:
I have NEVER said that the P6K shoots footage that looks videoish and can't produce cinematic footage. All Im saying is that after reading your post about "proof" that the P6K is "more cinematic than the P4K" I was very disappointed after pressing play on that video.
But like I said there are most likely much better examples of cinematic footage out there.
