For me the last Zacuto Shootout showed that no more shootouts needs to be made. Its still 100% current and adding the c300ii, fs7, ursa mini etc would not ad anything valuable to the test.
The result would still be, given a good DP and enough lights, they can all look good.
Thats why I a while back tested and imo sort of proofed the opposite. If you take a couple of cinema cameras and a couple of cheap once but pay zero attention to lights and grading. It will again look pretty much the same.

Its nice and small. Very well built. The image is nice if just a bit brittle and the 100Mbps feels limiting.
The screen is nice, EVF is ok, price is great.
So far it feels like a solid c-cam/still cam.
I hate that you often need to double tap record to get it to start (might be a setting, haven't had time to check).
4K Frame

Here is my first dirty test, just used vintage glas. No real grading just quick fiddle with curves, LUTs and some presets.

I agree, but both Brawley and Kholi have tested the SLR Magic and said that they find it better than the Tiffen that pretty much won Dougdales test.
I bought my Genus based on his testing but if I was to redo it today I would go SLR Magic.

Much better than the gh4. Its imo 12 usable stops given that the Blackmagic has 13 (which I use as my personal bench mark).
So in my experience it has the same DR as the c100 and D16. Atleast a stop more than the a7s. And again more than the gh4.
I have a g7 so I can do a comparing shot.

200 ..and 50d film ...give the image...subject..actor...actress..friend...family member..an unexplainable feel..like etched in immortality...

200asa film kicks the ass of any iso 20 000 camcorder when it comes to DR.

It is a bit sad that my Facebook feed is full of groups for cameras like the NX1 and A7s and are now saying with concrete authority that the C300 II only has 12.5 stops of DR, completely ignoring any tests that show otherwise, just to try and make themselves feel better about their cheaper cameras (I own both, great cameras, but i'm not gonna try and convince myself that they are now somehow better because of this C300 II review!).
Why are so few people able to use logic and balance when it comes to tech? If the next 10 reviews also point to 12.5 stops, then there is cause for concern.. But until then, just add this review to the various other reviews to make any decision.

I can test HD 35mbit 422 vs HD 20mbit 420.
Thats the closest I can get in mbps. Unless I go 4k 200mbps from the xc10 vs my smartphone.

This might not be much of a test but at least its the same settings and same distance.

Please link to the 4K 4:2:2 +200mbps shooting camcorder with good stabilization, good audio, non dslr form factor, built in NDs, etc that's even better but still cheaper, so I can buy it.

Ive been asked quite a bit about what the 4K 305Mbps 4:2:2 C-Log looks like ungraded.
Here are a few "Before and After Shots". I've spent maybe 10 seconds per clip on grading so its more to show the ungraded.
But most of all its to also give a link to two random 4K and one HD Slowmo clips that you can download.
