docmoore got a reaction from TheRenaissanceMan in Zeiss 135mm F/2 APO - the best?
I have the ZF.2 version of the Zeiss 135 F2 Apo and the 55 and 85 Otus lenses also ZF.2.
Previously owned just about every ZF.2 lens 21mm and above.
The 135 is so good that I cannot imagine it being redone as an Otus lens. It has a superbly balanced manual focus
rack and while not at the level of the Otus lenses it is very easy to manually focus with the lens. It balances well on
medium sized cameras ... not so well on the A7s size camera without a cage. Fairly heavy but not frontwardly balanced.
Bokeh is wonderful ... great Zeiss 3D rendering ... wonderful micro contrast. It is a fairly contrasty lens with Zeiss colors
and very white whites buy not overly cool in color.
Here is a bit outside on the C100 Mk II :

All of these lenses are expensive but you only need to buy them once ... not every two years like most cameras seem to be turning over. ZF.2 is almost the
ideal mount as it can mate to most cameras.....Nikon, Sony, Canon, any M43 mount.

Mind you, the pocket was/is a great little camera. I still feel the footage looks great. I just hated working with it... And if you hate working with something... well... you probably won't.

My concern about the Reduser Forum is that everyone there engages in a shy form of Orwellian double speak ... as they know that being

My Red One had major mojo ... color and grading very organic ... the Epic replacement was too sterile and clinical for me.

For anyone who is a 1-2 man crew and does their own audio I highly recommend the H6. I've been using the H4n for 4 years now and it finally fell and broke. I decided to get the H6 since it had such good reviews. The preamps absolutely destroy the H4n's. Not only is the audio quality 2x better, the menu system is much easier and has colored screen with a small boot up time. Just thought I'd throw this recommendation out there if anyone is wanting to improve on sound recording (with an H4n).

So I had this camera in my BH cart for weeks ... then opted for a C100 Mk II ... mainly due to the size and concerns about Slog colors. After struggling with the A7s
I was not excited about wrestling with Sony color space. Although the 4:4:4 RGB output is truly the selling point.

So I drag my CD Odyssey 7Q+ along to get a paltry 4:2:2 Prores HQ out of the C100 Mk II ... not that smaller than the F3. But I get dual pix AF and a color science that
    I can easily work with....
Still ... a sale of this magnitude makes you want to but it even if it is a bad decision.

    And I just moved from 4K with A7s/CD Odyssey 7Q+ to a C100 Mk II ....
    Today.
Looked at the FS7 and could not get the little plastic thing to focus the LCD ... too many little into the menu things.
Do not want a 20K C300 Mk II but was pleasantly surprised by the well thought out format of the C100 Mk II.
So my A7s Woodencamera Cage and mount and the CD Odyssey 7Q+ will be on the market.
I have owned Sony EX1R Red One Red Epic a huge number of MF Digital Cameras and have extensive experience
in color correction but I will not continue to play the find the correct LUT for each damn clip and try to match them all.
Ideally an ARRI Amira would work ... but I will try to duplicate a simple color balanced film look from this camera.
Oh its fan is imperceptible in use but it does not overheat.
And a simple ATMOS Ninja Star will give me Prores.
The AF is delightful and it weighs not much more than the A7s and cage.
Easier to balance and I can start recording without setting off a seismic perturbation that takes 10 seconds to still in video.
Now when they give me 4K or 4.6K at this level for a moderate price I will be there.
Played with the Canon EOS Cinema lenses .... seem as well made as the Zeiss CP.2s
    Overall a big day ...

Doug Jensen has a series of training videos for the FS7 and a number of well done videos using the camera...
he has gone F3 F800 F55 FS7 and now shoots mainly with the F55 but uses the FS7. His setup videos help
nail color and exposure for pro shooters. Worth the price if you go FS7 ... and you have the option for RAW out of
that camera in the future with the CD Odyssey 7Q+.
Thunderbolt 2 Drive .... would caution against Lacie as they have had terrible failure rates.
The G Tech uses Enterprise class drives in its best RAID configurations ... highly recommended and at not
    a huge premium in price.

It's unfortunate that so many of the replies here come from a spec sheet formed opinion.  I personally couldn't afford to invest in this camera, however if i were an artist/film maker who values the benefits of true monochrome, or one who's art practice is purely in b+w this is definitely the cheapest option.  It's sad that so many seem to compare this to the bmpcc and the currently not released bmmcc.  It's also sad that it seems ISO's are more important than image quality to strong mouthed eoshd-ers.  Rag the hell out of a b+w sensor and i imagine the grain is rather pleasing - as it is when you rag monochrome film.  it;s only colour noise that looks nasty.  film grain looks lush
